I prefer humans to dogs. I never managed to get into this whole have a pet in IG sort of thing. I mean, yes, the animated cutscenes with dog were cute, but I just couldn't get attached to the thing. I wouldn't trade any companions.
That's why Origins had a mod that adds a 5th slot for your dog.

All the time, effort and money spent on these characters could have been put to better use with expanding the back stories, cut scenes and interactions of the existing characters.
Sera. Very annoying and a hypocrite.
I like the companions quite a bit as characters, even when I don't like them as people (see: Vivienne). Also, it seems, I'm the only one on the planet who finds Sera's juvenile anarchy hilarious. But ... for a chance at a Mabari I would quickly drop a character for game play reasons.
When my inquisitor was a mage on my first play through, then Dorian would be shown the door.
This play through as an archer, it would be Varric.

Cole. That kid just makes me think of a sulky fanboy from the Destiny forums. Vivienne would be a close second, with her snobby vibe.

Cole, Blackwall, and Sera would all hit the road for sure. Cassandra, Solas, and to a lesser extent Dorian were the only characters I enjoyed.

Which companions would you have traded for a Mabari?
I guess the companion your a clone to, as he/she never really gets used. I have played a S&S champion and a dagger assasin, which means Blackwall and Cole.
I still used Blackwall in all the Warden missions though. Made him 2 handed, then realised that making him 2hande was just weakening him for no good reasons so respect to focus on the Battlemast tree.
That's an odd question, but if I absolutely had to choose a companion to get rid of, it'd be Sera. It's not that I didn't like her, I thought she was great, I just didn't use her very much.
Iron Bull is first choice for Mabari.
Sera second.
I would trade all my companions for Morrigan though! 
Vivienne. I would happily strangle her with her stupid throat ribbons for a Mabari. The entire game I just wanted to plant my foot on her well-dressed butt and shove her off the balcony.
