Except the Qunary of course. I think Tevinter because constant war makes for a lot of your PIB being send to the army. Also you have scores of veterans with actual experience in war. What do you all think?
Who has the most powerful military in Thedas?

I think Orlais as a whole, Tevinter is small and somewhat divided but they would prolly have the most experienced if united, then Ferelden. my opinion though. Although you could make a case for the Inquisition now as they're building up and getting influence. they do have the army of Orlais joined with them after all and they recruit their own people.

If you want to get technical, the Darkspawn. Quantity is a quality all its own.
And repopulating using the other side's forces.

It does not help that without a archedemon they kill each other like crazy.

Tevinter = Qunari > orlais------> nevarra
------> Ferelden
Tevinter: I would say from the lore I have read, they are a military powerhouse, However they rely heavily on Mages and Indentured Servants for their Military. They are also Equal in power to the Qunari. (Think of them as the US, and the Qunari as the Soviets. That is the power they have.)
orlais: is a powerhouse, although the Civil war has depleted it's forces greatly. At the height of their power they were equal or better than Tevinter, however now they are in recovery. (ie Post WW1 Great Britain)
nevarra: They are the fierce warrior people of the North, ie Dragon Hunters. They are a small nation with excellent warriors. (The Scots, Prussia)
Ferelden: They are a classic medieval serfdom, in times of need they can cause the mightiest empires to backdown. They are strongest with Heroes. As a military they are actually really weak, but their do have mighty heroes. (Classical medieval Europe)

I'd argue that Orzammar has a pretty strong Military. Yeah I know that there is the bickering between the Noble Houses, but they got some things going for them.
1. They are constantly fighting the Darkspawn.
2, They got warriors who are already dead. So what do they have to lose?
3. I do believe there are still some Golems active not many maybe but enough to make an impact I'd bet.
4. Their Berzerker mindset.

Oh...opps, totally forgot.
Tevinter = Qunari > orlais------> Orzammar = nevarra ------------------------------------> Ferelden
Orzammar: Kingdom of the Dwarves, use to be equal in size and power to Old Tevinter, now they have one city left. Still that one city state can hold off the Darkspawn. While maintaining trade with the outside world.

Qunari easily, they fought all of thedas to a standstill with absolutely no knowledge or intel on the lands they were invading. And Thedas is still yet to match them on a technological standpoint. The Qunari have their Gaatlok and Saa Quamek and have been building up their forces since the last war only dealing with small skirmishes with Tevinter. They have also established a massive spy network and have been gathering intel.
Following the Qunari, Most probably Orlais followed closely by Nevarra and Tevinter

Read the very first sentence of the OP.
Anyway, probably Orlais, with Tevinter as a close second.

Orlais has repeatedly been stated as the most powerful human nation. Though back in the days of pre-DAO launch, Anderfels was said to have the largest army (since they all have to fight the Darkspawn).

That was then, 200 years ago, when they had a massive Armada, and a massive fighting force. These days they are in perpetual stalemate with Tevinter.

Nevarra and Ferelden are of going toe to toe with Orlais
Tevinter has held on for a long time
the Inquisition has a power base almost as powerful as any of these
the Anderfells also are reported to be quite the fierce inhabitants and a plethora of wardens

a stalemate largely due to not being bothered enough to actually try and crush them according to Fenris

Tevinter only has a strong army because they fight the Qunari, so if we exclude the Qunari, then we should exclude the Tevinter. Bear in mind the reason the Qun are at war is magic use in Teventir. When they decide to come to thedas it will be war.

Personally i would say the tevinter and Orlais are a bit equally met when it would come to war at this point.
In my opinion it goes like this.
1-Tevinter/Orlais(in my opinion equally matched and playing through da:i we learn the orlesian have had battlemages in their armies.)
2-Nevarra(becoming a strong force to stand up to the big empires but not enough force to completely hold off orlais or tevinter.)
3-Rivian(they have the backing of the Qunari army and that mean they have the Qunari Armada at their beck and call.)
4-Free Marches(Assuming they ally but that seems to only happen in an invasion)
5-Antiva(if someone else doesn't buy the pirates off. and crows off)
6-Ferelden(Wonderful Guerrilla fighters and incredibly spirit. but they do not have the force to make a long term campaign.)
7-Anderfell(Assuming the Warden's wouldn't support them.)
but i would have to say which ever nation allies with Nevarra is going to be a force/empire to reckon with.

That's both sides really, the Vints and Qun use that war as an excuse to send the more violent citizens after a proper enemy. (read 1984). In an actual for a win war between the Tevinter and the Qunari, Most of the North would be laid waste, and neither side would win. Unless Tevinter could convince Orlais and Nevarra to play on their side. Which is not guaranteed.

Yes rivain does. they have openly converted to the Qun and the Qunari protect their own like the Arishok protected those elves from kirkwall.

In a banter between dorian and bull, dorian talks about the war with the qunari and bull comes back by saying... "wait, tevinter actually considers it a war? We've basically been screwing around to kill time."
So basically i dont think tevinter is as strong as everyone is making them out to be....
Military wise, outside of qunari i believe it goes....
1. Orlais
2. Nevara, united free marches, tevinter
3. Ferelden
4. Anderfels
5. Antiva, Rivain
