Like an Omni Tool
They claim it will roll out next year. I'm not holding my breath.... Seems way too advanced and I don't think they even have a prototype just a fancy video..
Is this like a real life Omni Tool?

Omni-tools are way more mysterious.

The concept is a step in the right direction but its a long ways from being comparable to the omnitool.

But what about the Omni Blade? I need one to deal with pesky co-workers.

I'd llike them to show us an actual working prototype of this. So far nothing. Just a promotional video

One step ahead, but still pretty far from omni-tools.

Well it can't shoot fireballs or materialize a cutting edge...
...but the graphical display is much better.

Won't be much good in cold weather with your arrn covered up.
I can also see someone has it while working and it gets caught on a piece of equipment then it gets damaged or something worse.

Well I'm still a tiny bit skeptical till we see a prototype. These guys were originally on kickstarter but got booted off that for some reason.

Absolutely. Notice it is the CONCEPT that I give credit towards, not the actual product that may or may not even exist in any practical shape or form. The fact that there are people out there showing an interest in bringing us this type of technology is the first step to us actually obtaining it. It takes a few virtual boys before we reach oculus.
The best thing about this concept, imo, is that it isn't unfeasible. We may both have skepticism in the validity of this particular group making it but the product itself is not outside our reach. It's essentially a wrist-mounted projector with a projection keyboard. Both are technologies that already exist today. That isn't to say the project is a simple one or anything of the sort, merely that it isn't a stretch of the imagination to see this type of technology being created relatively soon in our lifetime, if the interest for such a product is there. IMO it is the public interest in such a product that will determine when we will receive it. I have no doubt that something comparative to an omni-tool CAN be created but until public interest and demand reach a certain peak for it we're unlikely to see it anytime soon.
People are rather content in what we already have which could pose a hurdle for such innovation.

But an Omnitool would be boring. It's monochrome in nature.... No colour..... Boring

You can give me your omnitool if you think its boring. I'd be cool with it. Lol.
In a more serious note, I don't believe they are monochrome in the actual lore. There are omnitool video games afterall. Its possible that its appearance in the game is due to technical limitations - similar to why Tali's drone in ME3 is suddenly the standard default drone rather than her specialized purple.

There are several in-game examples of characters using omnitool video displays to communicate, which shows them in full color.

I was referring more to its universal orange glow, but yeah, that too.

Ah but you see that was really the point. I do indeed believe it can be customized in the lore. I was saying that the reason the omnitool is not customizable in the actual game is probably due to technical limitations and not necessarily for lore-specific reasons. Consider the first Mass Effect, for example. You couldn't paint your armor but is there any reason to think that theres actually something stopping you from doing that in the lore? Clearly not, since in the later games you CAN color it. They just didn't implement it as a gameplay feature in the first game for practical reasons.
I believe the omnitools of lore are far more customizable then what they are in the actual gameplay. Look at the melee attacks all having special tweaks. No lore-reason for why this couldn't be made possible before ME3 but it just wasn't something they included until the last game (though they did come up with a lore reason for its sudden appearance). Failure to implement something such as omnitool customization doesn't mean they're necessarily monochrome. Which is why I'd wager that a 'real' omnitool, outside just that we see in gameplay, is customizable.
I believe the reason they are generally orange isn't due to a lore-specific reason but merely a gameplay limitation.

Innovation has to come from somewhere. Could you not just call someone instead of emailing? Getting too content with current technology can cause stagnation of future achievements.

I admit I can be a bit slow to pick up certain technologies (still not interested in touch screens) but I'm not a luddite. I just don't like change lol. But, I mean, the phone was inches from the lazy git.
I know, I know, it's a demonstration, I'm just being difficult.

Yes they will have them by 2015 or 2016. Your Galaxy S5 was out of date when it was made.

I disagree.
I think the item as in the video looks way too advanced.
Things to consider.............
What kind of battery and current / voltage is being supplied?
How long will this battery actually last with normal usage?
The video was terrible in that his finger didn't cast a shadow when he used the device, and other things.
I don't think this device would let you multitouch..

I liked this concept... Wonder how it would be implemented... I think you need the device nearby for it to work, Like a connection between the device and the bracelet., who knows?
IMO, it will be best than using it and carrying it around.
