Why did any of you guys do the dark ritual?

You do know that it's been confirmed in-game that the Blight existed long before Cory and his crew invaded the Golden City right? 'The Maker's punishment' has gone from being 'possibly literal' to 'completely metaphorical'
Really? When was that said? I am genuinely curious, I must have glossed over or missed that in game.

Because I trust Morrigan
Because I think saddling her with a child is the best punishment/reward you could ever inflict on anyone
Because I didn't think Alistair should have to die
Because the cutscene of Morrigan jumping Alistair was HILARIOUS

Also I think the story in DAI is better if Kieran is hanging around. With godsoul and all.

My character was in love with Morrigan, trusted her, and her plan would ensure their survival.

It was never said. He just sees implications. There's nothing definite on the Taint.

Ah I see. Thanks for clearing that up, dear. I thought I really did miss an important piece of lore while skipping some lines in cut scenes.

Am I still 'yellow' and cowardly if I did it because I just thought that Alistair needed to get laid just once in case he didn't make it back from the battle alive? I was playing the ultimate wingman and now I'm being called selfish? For shame, OP. For shame.
He'd never admit it, but you know he likes how she looks.

My Warden loved(and still loves) Morrigan.
Also, I'm a big believer in the philosophy "Don't die for your cause; make sure the other guy dies for his."
Saving the world is a cause worth dying for, but if the world can be saved without you dying, then there's no sense in throwing your life away. My warden chose to save the world that day and still be around to affect it the next.
He chose life over death, and really, that's the bravest thing one can do.

Seriously, its such a cowardly, chicken ****, yellow thing to do. You think saving the world isn't a cause worth dying for? If you shagged Morrigan just to save your own arse at the risk of spawning some demon abomination into the world then you are a disgrace to The Wardens, Kirkwall, and the Inquisition.
I have beaten Dragon Age Inquisition twice and I will never import a save that involves having completed the dark ritual. The only thing worse than a villain like Corypheus is a coward.
Hey! Don't you badmouth my Morrigan and our baby! The baby is fruit of our love and not abomination.
Choose your weapon Sir, we will meet at dawn in the park. Only a duel will cleanse this insult.

It would be hard for my femWarden to perform the ritual,. So no she didn't perform it with Morrigan. She had Alistair or Loghain do it with Morrigan

I like how having a child changed Morrigan. It gave her character a new layer and I'm quite happy that I imported the world state in which I made Alistair perform the ritual with her, and not the one where my warden sacrificed herself.

Also, on a strictly meta reason, I've always felt that doing the dark ritual had way more potential for plot than the ultimate sacrifice. The sacrifice is a fine ending but that's what it is; an ending. There's no real place to go from there; that plotline is simply wrapped up. If you're looking for closure, there you go.
The dark ritual was the one that said "something is going to come of this", and so far, I'm satisfied with the result.

I love that scene. "Uh, honey. You don't need my permission to sleep with Loghain..."
"But, the dark ritual-"
"If that's what you want to call it." /slow, awkward wink.
HAHA.
Really, though, in order to be a "Hero" I have to take on the burden of trying to never kill anyone or let anyone be killed, no matter the consequences, but its not acceptable to try to save my own life?

Huh. I had thought your topic, OP, would be about the fact that Flemeth, and then Solas, swallowed Urthemiel's soul. Was quite disappointed that it's just a troll post.

Alistair was my best friend and there was no way I was breaking Zevran's heart after what he went through.
Why is this so hard to understand? My Warden is human (well, elven), not some sort of robotic person made of stone.

My Daylen Amell did it because he was Morrigan's little puppy. Plus a god baby would be pretty awesome. Either that or let his bro Alistair do the deed-which he didn't need to. I also thought that the Old Gods must be suffering too, so I saw it from that perspective just as much.

I don't consider having a desire to not be dead a cowardly thing, personally. Just a sensible thing.

Excuse me but I have been banned by 4chan, I don't need your advice on how to troll.
Actually, I think the first half of this statement would imply that you do.

I wanted to roleplay a character that wasn't a hero, but more of an average guy - much like myself. I also reasoned if there was a way to evade death I could continue doing good deeds (my warden was always eager to help people), so there was no reason to die a heroic death if it could be cheated in such a simple manner.
I also romanced Morrigan so it took little convincing from her side, though my warden did feel like he had been used so he went after Morrigan. Turns out, it all worked out in the end (DA:I) - so I'm satisfied with it.
