What are the major differences between Normal and Nightmare?  I just started playing Nightmare for the Trophy, and was curious.

Thanks.

Though I haven't taken that particular dive yet, if it's the same as the difference between nightmare and normal mode in DA:O...

You WILL need to take full advantage of every resource. You must keep your gear up to date. You must understand all skills involved from each character. During tougher fights, you may even have to micromanage every action cycle. to the point where a skill is used, you pause, give the next set of orders, then unpause.

And that's what kept me glued to the series for so long. I'm excited to embark upon that challenge once I've explored a lot of the content on normal mode.

I played up to Skyhold (mostly clearing the 3 Fereldan zones but not doing too much in the Oasis) and started over on Nightmare.  It's actually easier than Normal was because I know how to play now, haha.

None of this is required, except pause. I've completed the game twice now on nightmare as 2h reaver and dw assassin, didn't use tactical camera even once on 2nd playthrough as it's not needed + it's atrocious to use.

I run with 2 mages, both with Dispel. Tac cam has 1 use.

Pause my game so I can line up both of their Dispel casts with nodes from the rifts, then unpause and continue stabbing things. :D

I took me a while, but I finally did this.

Not sure what game you are talking about here. You most certainly don`t have to pause much during combat in nightmare. Mainly just herding the stupid AI companions out of AoE zones or make they take a swig from some other potion besides healing.

NM requires cheese, or ridiculous amounts of pausing with the dumb AI behavior and the useless tactical cam.

I built a party that breezed through the game on NM, sometimes never chugging a single potion, even on the hardest fights.

(it's much harder before your specialization, but once you get them... it's a breeze)

I had:

Viv, KE (unkillable, ridiculous amounts of DPS on most fights)

Cass (S/B, fully defensive with taunts and guard-buliding)

Myself, DD Tempest rogue (with Hidden Blades proc on the dagger... you got basicallyTime Stop and ability cooldown, it's pretty stupid tbh)

One unimportant companion who i generally let die because the AI is so stupid

The only problems I had were when they decided to stand in the fire or when the lightning dragons had the overlapping AOEs (3 melees, 2 gotta move out etc.).

I basically right-clicked and face-tanked my way through Nightmare.

No strats. No tactics. Just face tank and right click.

(which might be for the best since the tactical part of the game isn't really working anyway)

For me, major difference is only enemies with more damage and more health. At low level you may need to pay more attention to gear and such but tis.. simply meh

At lower levels, it was brutal; however, as you gain more abilities (on character and for the Inquisition) and unlock specializations, you will do just fine. I rolled a mage and enjoying it a ton.

When I started my Nightmare playthrough was the first time I ever died in a tutorial mission.

I have to say, Nightmare mode is rather fun.  After brainlessly throwing my party at enemies and letting them hack away in Normal mode, it's nice to be forced to use some actual tactics.
