Just don't support Vivienne by doing that War Table quest.

How does one even get the option? I suppose you need a lot ot approval? Me and Vivi do not see eye to eye on, well, anything, so I never had any  option to have conversation with her about Divine....

What do I have to do to NEVER make Vivienne the Divine ever again!?

Don't get me wrong. I don't have anything against her character. But that *bleep* ruined EVERYTHING. MORE rebellions, forcing the Templars back under her heel, mages leashed once more. I mean come the hell on. I'd support literally anyone else over her. LITERALLY anyone. EVEN SERA!

There are some good aspects to her becoming Divine... Selfish, but good. You don't have to say goodbye to Cassandra if you romanced her, You don't have to worry about Leliana reverting to effing scary and carrying out a purge. If your warden romanced her, she can go back to Ferelden to meet him/her after whatever it is the warden is doing. Whoever is running the chantry, it will probably end badly, so at leaast it's not someone you like whose head ends up on a pike. See? It's actually the good ending. ;)

I just told her I'll think about it and the quest came up on my War Table. And been avoiding it since I was adamant on remaining neutral about the whole matter.

I'd refrorm Tevinter, then give it all to them but then, I think mages have as much right to rule as anyon, at least Viv is a mage, but Lilieanna is a better devine.

1. Sera would be the best Divine. What all organised religions need are more profanities, better use of bow's and arrows and copious use of the "***** lick" to indicate devotion.

2. Re-read point one until it seems legitimate, consume alcohol as necessary.

Vivienne is not necessarily a terrible Divine but as mentioned by Cass, stability is needed desperately both Leli and Vivienne are not bringing stability. Cass is the "noble/good" choice in my opinion.

You can't waffle between Cassandra and Leliana. Vivienne will swoop in otherwise.

ohhhhhhh

Cassandra doesn't have any more stability than either of the other two.

Leliana apparently *can* be a peaceful choice, but you have to have softened her attitude

Allying with mages and having Briala rule gets you Leliana apparently. I got Leliana without supporting her.

Don't do the war table operation called "Support Viviene". That's the only way she becomes Divine, from what I understand.

That's not it!

I've had the same issue as OP. I've got Vivienne as a Divine.

Yesterday I finished my first PT and among all the questions and issues, that one was the biggest 'WTF?!!'.

I had max approve with Cassandra, talked to her a lot and supported her ideas about reforming the Seekers. I told her she could be a good Divone, but she needs to decide what's good for herself. Her reply was like she'd do anything to make things right. I was hoping to get her as a Divine. I NEVER had a 'choice wheel' for her (support-not support).

Leliana volunteered at some point, but I disliked her 'love&peace for all strategy', it'd never work like that. There was a 'choice wheel' and I said 'no'.

Then I talked to Viv just to check for updates in her dialogue. I've never had a good aproval with her, in fact- we barely even talked, I never did her quest.  She seemed to approve Cassandra's candidacy (which I agreed with).   'Support Vivienne' became avaliable on the table (which I had ignored). Part of me wonders whether not talking to her at all might have changed things, but I'm not willing to replay that part yet. Probably I will one day. If that does not work - I'd have to replay the whole game, and with no obvious clues about how it happened I'm risking to get the same issue again.

Or...it could be an epilogue bug. Just a wrong frame. Cass is the Divine in my personal canon anyway.

i got Leli as my divine though i did not do both "support vivi" and "support cass" on my war table. i though that is how they choose? not sure why there is no "support leli" on my war table though. but i wanted my this official playthrough to have leli as divine.

I just found this thread while looking for something else, and although it's a month old I thought I'd reply so that anyone else who goes looking for the answer to this problem will find it.

What it boils down to is that in conversations from the very earliest hours of the game, and choices we make throughout, we give 'points' to one of the 3 choices for Divine (and we also decide whether Leliana is hardened or softened similarly early). If our choices and conversations are 'muddled', then Viv puts her oar in. Some choices give points to only one of the 3, some give them to 2 (with more to one than the other).

Tell everyone - especially Leliana, Dorian, Vivienne, Cassandra - that mages should be free: points to Leliana. Give varied answers depending on who you speak to: points to Vivienne.

Full alliance with mages: points to Leliana. Full alliance with templars: points to Cassandra (and Vivienne, we think). Conscript the mages: points to Vivienne (and Cassandra, we think).

Ruler of Orlais: Gaspard is points for Cassandra, Briala is points for Leliana, Celene is points for Vivienne. We're not sure on the reunited Celene/Briala, points certainly go to Vivienne, but if Briala is made nobility then points may go to Leliana as well.

And so on, and so forth. Please see this thread for much more in the way of details on how the choice of the divine works - at least, as much as we've been able to figure out: http://forum.bioware...rst-post-12314/

No. On my first run I never even spoke to Vivienne about becoming Divine. She did anyway.
