Would you be annoyed if Bioware inserted a main plot mission through DLC?

The reason I ask is this:

When I see Val Royeaux, I see a mission that got cut down to 10% of its intended size. Also, the art book indicates they had much bigger plans for this place. I don't know the reason for the cut but it may have been time and resources rather than "It doesn't work within the story".

But if they added that cut content in a DLC, basically inserting a complete main plot mission, would you complain about a part of the main game having been cut in order to make DLC of it?

I think DAI is big enough to be immune to that accusation, and I would really love to see Val Royeaux in all its glory at some time. And I would pay for that. What do you think?

Which book? The art one? or the book about the start of the civil war

I hope they make a main plot expansion. Taking place after the defeat of Corypheus.

If you're asking if I'd complain that they possibly cut Val Royeaux from, say, midgame and hypothetically add it in later as a mission happening before Wicked Hearts, no, I wouldn't complain. I'd be upset that I've beat the game already without that content, but I'd start a new game to play through it.

Not really, if it gave us an opportunity to get more insights from our Inquisitor's background.

If we're talking a lengthy expansion that continues the story (and continues companion stories), then **** yes please!

Why would you need a main plot mission just to make Val Royeaux bigger?

Considering the game already readily incorporates decisions that were made during DLC (Corypheus I'm looking at you) I don't really see how this would change anything.  I would rather DLC expand the game in meaningful ways than just have a bunch of weapon packs or a new area full of fetch quests.

I'd prefer they made all DLC post-game related. I'm not looking to do multiple runs of the game (although this is the first game in 20 years to make me sort of want to). Plus, I'd like to take my level 21 Inquisitor and do some other things, if possible.

Seem to remember there was a free DLC for Origins where you could return to Ostagar? Was sort of annoying I had already beaten game. I think I just ended up loading up an old save or something to see it.

Considering how underdeveloped the second half is, and how little Coryfish is in it, I'd like them to pull a Witcher 2, and add some main story content to the second half, even if it required you to play it before the ending.

I dont care as long as i get to experience more meaningful story with my inquisitor , btw nothing in game indicates that the Val Royeux story was cut.

Some stuff got cut , I also wonder if there were supposed to be more elven content in the Exalted Plain.

Remember that short teaser with Sera walking through the field , finding a dead elf?

Also we're told the elves are busy messing with Celene and Gaspard forces .

But we never see them , only one small Dalish clan.

There's really nothing about Briala

Spoiler

BUT I would say I'd prefer having DLC happening after the main campaign , I'm done with DAI main story  ...and I'd rather have something wrapped up the story of the Inquisitor and co , and not have now 3 heroes busy doing whatever in Thedas , just so we can read their names in future games.

Probably not going to happen anyway , DAI is a huge game , so lower chance of a post campaign DLC being popular ...

It always depends what and how. The problem I see with inserting stuff into the main game is: the main game is HUGE. And when the DLC is out, probably many people have already finished the game at least once. Now start a new char to see the extra mission, somewhere in the middel down the road? Will this mission affect the main plot? If not why care, if so how can the story work without this part?

So...any kind of mission/story-DLC should be AFTER the game. A traditional addon of big size. Awakening-style. With anything else I feel it might be more problems than fun. And I also didn't like it how they made it in DA2 ... that was done really strangely and not very immersive, at least to me

But enlarging the things doable in Val Royeaux in general? More areas, a couple of side-quests? Why not...it was the biggest dissapointment for me as far as locations go. Far too small, and the colours/graphics somehow reminded me of Knight of the Old Republic. Can't say why...

To start with, I don't have the artbook, so I can't look at what you're talking about and try to get a feel about how much it got pared down. But it feels complete to me. It might not be everything they had planned for it, but it is self-contained and there aren't any loose threads in the game itself that indicate they planned for it to be any larger than it is now.

I definitely wouldn't mind a post-epilogue DLC that explores what happened to the Empire as a result of your choices at Halamshiral. Putting story DLC there is likely most of the reason they left the game still open after the end of the story.

I also wouldn't mind if the DLC content was opened up to you after Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts and you can choose when to play it, like Legacy, MotA, Warden's Keep, and Stone Prisoner.

If the DLC offered was essentially "We made this one quest bigger. If you've already finished it, too bad, you have to start a new game", then I'd be angry. For about twenty minutes, then I'd probably buy it anyway because more story.

As many reviews and fellow gamers have pointed out, the weakest aspect of DA:I is Coryfish. He's underdeveloped, and despite being the bad guy, his screen time makes him seem more like a cameo role. Unless an Extended Cut is made (which I doubt would happen), there's not much you can do, because any future DLC has to be able to be played before and after his defeat.

So I have a few ideas on what could be done. You could take advantage of time travel that was introduced, and see Coryfish before he started the Breach. Even going as far back as seeing him before he became a darkspawn and how he got to the Golden City. The story could focus on a certain person trying to erase him from existence, and you get caught up in the event.

Another idea is to create a General for Coryfish besides the second in command we see in the game. At the end of the game currently, Coryfish's army is still running around. The General guy could be the one running his army, and still attacks you even after you defeated Coryfish. Thus, we'd have someone to attack Skyhold, and allow us to get that epic fight that we never got. And for those playing the DLC before the beating the main game, we get special cutscenes of Coryfish and his second in command, and thus allow more development with them.

I think It's unlikely to be strictly end game content, because that would limit the audience to the people who've finished the game - and this is rather a large game, so rates of people finishing probably won't be high.

Odds are it'll be a side story of the sort that can fit anywhere.

Also, Return to Ostagar wasn't free DLC.

While I wouldn't be upset if they took some of the content they were required to cut and make it into a DLC, I don't think it'd be good to make it required as part of the main story.
Having it unlock and possibly relock at a certain time? Sure. I'm down for that.
I'd like to see content that people can play post endgame though. That way people aren't required to replay the whole game just to hit the one DLC. Instead they can just continue with the character they've made.
That being said, Big ass spider in Adamant..... I wanna fight that thing!

Sweet baby Jesus!!!!  DAI desperately needs quality DLC that expands seriously on the short and very weak story and annoyingly shallow characters.

The world is so big (and beautiful, yes) but its filled with meaningless quests that add nothing to the story or characters. This void needs to be filled with proper content that is immersive in a true RPG style, not an offline MMO style.

Well - as for "Main Plot" - I think I'd like to make sure that it's "Post-Corypheus".  Maybe even tying into possibilities of what of what DA:4 will be about - or, just dealing with the aftermath of Corypheus' expansion.

He had an army - he had spread across Ferelden, Orlais and Maker knows where else... that leaves room for Magisters that had joined his cause to perhaps take advantage of the power-vacuum and attempt to achieve some efforts somewhere.

But also - if they just added:  "Moar plotz" I'd be ecstatic.  Unlike what seems like a large portion of the playerbase - I don't need to it be about "Inquisitor, Corypheus, Venatori - BreachVielDemons... " all the time.  I loved several of the side 'plots' going on that you can solve - and I'd happily welcome many many more.

There are three possibilities as I see it.

1) A post game expansion, expanding on the story after the main plot

2) A DA2 style module that can be completed at any point, with a self contained narrative

3) A plot mission only available at a point during the main plot, or an expansion of an area, like Val Royeaux.

I wouldn't really mind any of these.  The first one interests me because I want to find out more about Solas.  The third interests me because I really think the main game could be improved with larger playable areas or some better development for Corypheus in a new mission.
