Would you be annoyed if Bioware inserted a main plot mission through DLC?

The question must be asked: Will it be free? If so, then no, I'll not be annoyed.

I'd only be annoyed if it was set mid-way between the current story, and not a continuation for after the main story that'll help bridge the gap between the end of this game, and the next.

If it's set mid-way between this game, then I'll definitely try it, I'm not going to push it aside because its not what I want. Who knows, it could end up being amazing.

But if its set after the main story, then shut up and take my money.

Hi again Leldra,

Most table top starter boxed sets for many games are around 100 dollars.

So if BioWare is able to make the story better in a fully functional game with a DLC and ask 30 bucks for it, I wouldnt mind.

In the present state DAI really is a 70 bucks early access

I would. Like I just said in another post, this is the first game where I actually felt like they cut out the good story stuff for DLC and left behind an empty shell of a story.

Val Royeaux, although frustratingly small wasn't on my list of things I felt were bizarrely cut. It just felt like a little shopping center that never updated it's shops.

There are three possibilities as I see it.

1) A post game expansion, expanding on the story after the main plot

2) A DA2 style module that can be completed at any point, with a self contained narrative

3) A plot mission only available at a point during the main plot, or an expansion of an area, like Val Royeaux.

I wouldn't really mind any of these.  The first one interests me because I want to find out more about Solas.  The third interests me because I really think the main game could be improved with larger playable areas or some better development for Corypheus in a new mission.

Of these, I'd prefer #2.

I'd rather they continued the story rather than insert earlier interactions. That said, there's no reason such DLC couldn't elucidate events which occurred earlier.

I would not. I hope they add more story related content through DLC. I also hope they add more War Room items to spend power on.

Hmm... as Javik in Mass Effect 3? Or Shale in DA:O? Or Legacy for DA:II? ;)

Yes, I would be annoyed. The game is way too short in some quests... mostly fetch & grab.

Based on what they've said about their intentions with patches going forward, I was under the impression that we'd be getting cut content in a free DLC/content patch, with other extra content beyond what was originally intended to be included as paid DLC.

I wouldn't like it if they did it as option 1) with how the game ended, two of my main party members are no longer available to me.

It's not like I'm not going to be replaying this for awhile, trying out different permutations of background and choices, so no I wouldn't be angry at all. Actually, I couldn't be angry in any case. Large amounts of cut content make me sad.

But if they added that cut content in a DLC, basically inserting a complete main plot mission, would you complain about a part of the main game having been cut in order to make DLC of it?

It isn't as simple as 'would I complain'...I would be happy as the game really needs more substantial content. However, I would certainly complain that it is not a good way to do things.

The reason I ask is this:

When I see Val Royeaux, I see a mission that got cut down to 10% of its intended size. Also, the art book indicates they had much bigger plans for this place. I don't know the reason for the cut but it may have been time and resources rather than "It doesn't work within the story".

But if they added that cut content in a DLC, basically inserting a complete main plot mission, would you complain about a part of the main game having been cut in order to make DLC of it?

I think DAI is big enough to be immune to that accusation, and I would really love to see Val Royeaux in all its glory at some time. And I would pay for that. What do you think?

No.  And I'd rather see Tevinter than Orlais.   All those people in masks outside in the daytime annoyed the hell out of me.

Honestly, I can hardly wait for this game to get some story-based DLC. I don't really have a preference for whether it's based after the main plot, during the main plot, or even if it's just a substantial sidequest since as long as it appeals to me I will likely hand over the money.

Really? I didn't know they were planning that. How unexpected.

I really don't care, as long as:

1) My characters are available to me (no Awakening style "all new companions". IMO, a lot of the companions are not fleshed out as it is.)
2) DLC is heavily plot and character driven

Yeah, they said that they had to cut quite a lot during development crunch and hoped to get at least some of that back going forward.  They didn't actually say it was going to be through patches or free content rather than paid DLC, but that was the impression.

Oghren came back in Awakening! It was so good to see a familiar face, to know that our trusty dwarf buddy's got our back... oh, wait, he forgot that we were friends and actually hates me now. Ok, cool.

But yeah, I agree with both your points.

Creating a DLC that continues where the current Main Story ended is something I can understand but adding more Main Story for something where a good amount of players have already passed the point is never a good ideal in my book.

Keep additions to Main Story as continuations to current ending is always a better option in my opinion.

As long as they do it early enough in the DLC cycle that I'm likely to play again, I'm fine with it.

I'm fine with it. Bring it on, especially if it is Solas related. ;)

The beauty of DLC is that no matter what it is (main game, post game, characters) it is optional.

You have a complete game already, if you want to polish it off and make it bigger that is awesome! I would pay for that, if someone else thinks well enough is fine, they do not have to buy it. We all win.

Though I'll say I do think it seemed like Bioware was planning a DLC after the ending, because pretty much every companion said they'd hang out for a while with the Inquisition and weren't in a super hurry to get home.

The Divine problem could be solved by Cass taking a break (or whatever, Bioware can think of a reason.). As for Vivienne, well, they could use the same excuse as for Cassandra, but is anyone going to be super broken up if Vivienne isn't a companion? I liked her, but she wasn't an LI, or super well liked, so I think most people would get over it.

Et voila! DLC add on after the ending with all our companions!

I hope they make a main plot expansion. Taking place after the defeat of Corypheus.

If you're asking if I'd complain that they possibly cut Val Royeaux from, say, midgame and hypothetically add it in later as a mission happening before Wicked Hearts, no, I wouldn't complain. I'd be upset that I've beat the game already without that content, but I'd start a new game to play through it.

Agreed, I hope for an expansion too. DA2 didn't get one because, well...did it really deserve one lol? But Inquisition deserves one IMO, and I LOVED Awakening :)
