Personalised, driven, power mad, vengeful; he was a villain with teeth, not some mindless force or some vaguely explained enemy.
Dragon Age could use more of the sort of Irenicus. Amazing stuff.

You know what would be a much more relevant place to discuss this? The thread I made in off-topic specifically for discussing the question of Bioware's best antagonist, linked in my signature.
If I were omniscient I would have sensed your link prior to you mentioning it...
Didn't mean that to come across as so sarcastic, sorry. If I were omniscient I would have sensed your link prior to you mentioning it...
He was okay. I didn't think he was anything special. The Illusive Man is far more interesting.
Sun Li > Irenicus, in my personal opinion. Loved that twist from Jade Empire.
I think Sarevok should get a honorable mention for refusing to die.
As for Irenicus, wasn't his plan almost identical to Corphyfish? Try to obtain godhood, fail, return as monster, PC has whatever they need to try again (Anchor/Soul of Bhaal) tries to take it. The only notable difference is that Irenicus succeeds in taking the PCs soul while Corhpytit flails around with the anchor for a little bit before giving up.
I hated Irenicus...never liked his motivations, felt he was basically a mindless force with specific ambitions, and his backstory bored me.
Honestly...Corypheus I thought was better, because he basically would have succeded if it weren't for dumb luck.
Kai Leng would wipe the floor with all of them for sheer awesomeness.
Schmooples... you know he is going to be the big bad.
Kai Leng would wipe the floor with all of them for sheer awesomeness.

People actually *like* Kai Leng? ![]()
I think Irenicus is their best villain, but even so he's not amazing. The underlying truth is that Bioware's villains have always just been adequate. They never felt like too much of a threat. They never inspired me to hate them. They were plausible enough not to be distracting from the story and sufficiently bad to motivate countering. That's all I need from a villain really.
Yeah no.
Different people have different tastes.
Stop trying to make your taste the "right" one.
It is hard to convey sarcasm on the internet, but you know what, I'm just gonna leave it!
I dont know, Corypheus has the voice....
David Warner would've been great for voicing Corypheus. David Sterne did a fine job, IMO, really good in fact, but Warner had that edge, that way he could switch from coldly calculating to furious with rage, that would've made Corypheus perfect.
This is one of those thing were people's opinions will greatly differ, Irenicus was a great villain and so evil that killing him the first time wasn't enough to stop him and after the second part that they had to show that yes he really was deader than dead. Sun Li was another great villain and had the best final line I've seen uttered by a villain in any series.
^ Yup
Revan.

"It seems I was a better teacher than I thought." *smile*
