I've joined several threatening games as level 1 and done better than the rest of the team. Level 1 characters doesn't = new player, especially not with the promotion system. You realistically have no way of knowing, beyond a banner [which not everyone even knows about] if the player is experienced or new.

Totally agreed.  We did actually let a level1 assassin join us in a Threatening match yesterday.  I was considering a kick vote, but seeing his banner I figured he had to have a reasonable amount of experience already, and he did plead his case over the mic and we let him stay.  He actually did a good job of not dying, didn't get much for kills in that regard, but it shows a level 1 through the promotion process—with experience, skill, decent weapons and armor—can make it through a Threatening match.  (and lol, I have seen a group of higher levels still wipe...  yeah I know...)

It would simply be easier to judge this being able to see player level, or at least their load out.

Back in my ME3 MP days, a lot of us experienced players skipped Bronze, and leveled up starting in Silver.  So long as the experience is there, and decent wepaons/perks, it usually worked out.  In truth, one day we had a level 1 (promoted) Kroguard (Krogan Vanguard) who took first place no problem, and I also experienced that with other characters.  Total e-peen when that happens.  :)

Haha.  Yesterday I brought in my level 8 Necromancer into Threatening and immediately received two kick votes.  The third never came so the game launched and when all was said and done I was at the top of the scoreboard by a decent margin.  This was against level 14+ characters.  The point is that unless you can see a person's gear, it is impossible to judge their quality.  While there are minimum level requirements for certain skills (Virulent Bomb requires level 6, or 7 with Death Siphon) the important one(s) can be obtained by level 8 or so.  For reference, even the game suggests levels 8-16 for Threatening.  While there are certainly inexperienced/bad players, the only way they will get better is by earning gold and practicing; Threatening is the best place for that.

I once got to top with a level 1 character in threatening... but as you may have guessed we didn't even make it through the 3rd stage.

How did you do that?  Yes I've got to top with level 1 characters too but I never made it through to the boss fight.  If the best player in the team is just shooting stuff and do nothing else how do the team win?

Yesterday, 4 of us were level 8-12 and we completed threatening without any issues.

My level 12 assassin has two daggers both 200 damage ish a piece..

For some reason we got every single match Vints so we did not have to worry about spin to win or portal jumper.  We were also organised through origin chat room and mics.

It is not hard to do so please take your whine elsewhere.

...wut? I've cleared Threatening many times as a level 1, sometimes reaching the top of the scoreboard. I've cleared Perilous as a level 1 quite a few times as well, though I only do that with friends for obvious reasons.

Do you have any idea how pointless Routine is once you learn game mechanics and get some gear?

Why are you still doing Threatening with a level 18? It's much more efficient XP wise to go Perilous past level 14.

Also, with proper gear and group, 4 level 1 characters can clear Threatening without much trouble. So when I read you don't want to see players below level 10...

I do threatening most of the time.

Why? Because RNG makes me, I don't have a good Unique yet and I'm not going to hold a team back by joining with a level 23 white.

I'd sooner crush a few Threatening Games than be a burden.
