BTW, how do I get my characters to stay where I want them to be? Especially after I my guys get sucked into the dragon during one of her attacks.

Taction mode doesn't work for me (the characters never do what I want them to do).

They won't stay where you want for long. Thus Dragon fights are better when ended sooner. The longer they last, the more your companions get beaten and waste potions. You can get several Tier 3 schematics and Tier 3 materials in Emprise du Lion and Hissing Wastes.
Since you are an Archer, you might want to advance in the main quest till you get the Longbow of the Griffon, the best anti-dragon weapon in the game. I was able to beat all Dragons with disdain using that weapon on Sera, on Nightmare.

I only found one dragon there (after you open the section up on the war table) and I've been ot nearly every area in Emprise? Where are the other 2?

They are on the other towers.

It's found during the main quest "What Pride Had Wrought."

Also, you need to keep your characters (even your ranged ones) somewhat close to the dragon, because the move where he flaps his wings will kill your characters if they're too far away.  Tell them to "Hold Position" to keep them in a certain place.

In terms of tanking, your Warrior should ideally have Turn the Bolt and Turn the Blade, which reduce the damage they take by a significant amount. Fire Resistance is also important for this fight.

Finally, there is an inquisition perk (under Forces) that increases the amount of healing potions you can carry by 4.

How to fight any dragons in DA:I?

You just explore...wait for one to suddenly appear while you least expect...and then in end...RUN!

I know you're trying to help, but your short answers are doing nothing to help me. What other towers? I've been all over Emprise and found only the one dragon (near the "stadium" looking structure.

Okay, haven't even gotten to that quest yet. I've only been doing side quests to complete each area (so dragons are the only things pretty much left). I pretty much did all of hinterlands before getting to skyhold (only have that dumb dragon area and one landmark to find)

In the mean time, can someone help me spec out my party to go against these dragons?  (screen caps of your characters helps much)

Serioulsy, I've never had this much trouble with Dragon Age (the dragons in the first game are a peach compared to these monsters) and there is no "guide" as to how to spec your characters properly

I am sorry, I'm not home with the game and I cannot do it from memory (unlike some folks here, I'm sure.) There ARE some good dragon strategy posts here, though. In the meantime, I'm a little confused by your high level and not having run into Tier 3 Schematics. How many areas of the game have you been to? Are you trying to clear all the side quests before you finish the main story? Have you attended the ball in Orlais yet?

You really should take note of what specifically is killing you. Based on your comments, it sounds like death by wing flap. When the dragon flaps her wings and you see a hurricane type of animation around her, you need to run in and hug the dragon, not run away.

When the dragon flies, just keep an eye on her and be ready to run away when you see a fireball coming. As soon as she lands, have your tank run straight into the dragon, to stop her from casting fireballs.

On normal difficulty, at your level, your tank should be able to easily handle the dragon. I recommend Blackwall, focus his build around the defensive abilities found in Weapon & Shield, Vanguard and Champion trees. Don't worry much about active abilities, all he needs for starters is Shield Wall and Taunts, then Shield Bash and/or Payback Strike. Blackwell should be pretty much unstoppable by that dragon.

Another tip is setting tactics and behavior for your party. Set Barrier as a preferred on a mage (you might also want a preferred cold spell for better damage against the dragon), and set him to defend your tank. On your tank, set him to defend himself. Disable all fire abilities in tactics.

Other than that, just be careful with positioning, have your ranged companions stand away from the tank, to the side of the dragon. If you have a melee guy (dagger rogue), you're probably gonna have to control him or just let him die by tail whip and kicks.

Lmao I has a 2handed tank in fully spec'ed tank gear minus a sheild. I know he must be a Troll? Like the one on the Storm Coast

If you had done the hinterlands, the hunting lodge furtherest part of northern map, has great tank armour. But your level 18 and you haven't invested in war cry, unbowed, or sheild wall, and armour related abilites?

The tank you don't even have to control, they won't even need a barrier at level 11. They wont die unless you let them stand in fire or start flanking ass first. The range or dps will die if you don't move them, in control of your barrier mage. During the adds phase at 1/2 health this hinterland dragon gets a little annoying if your mark of the rift is on cool down.

Here's a sample spec I'd recommend for Blackwall. Of course, it's subject to changes based on play style and preferences.

The build focuses on increasing your defense. You'd Taunt as an opener, use War Cry to build guard and increase defense, Shield Wall TO avoid damage and build guard, and Shield Bash to help drop enemy guard.

I used up all my potions, I can't get past 70% left of health on him/her.  How can I move my characters all at once?

I hold my mages at the outer edges of the area, but they get drawn into the dragon when she does her "suck" in attack. And when I try to move them out, my other characters start moving around.

I use hold, but they don't listen.

This is why you're dying. The dragon vortex works like a hurricane. The eye of a hurricane is the safest part. So when the dragon sucks you in, run towards the center of the hurricane. The more you try to escape the more damage you take.

Your missing Unbowed from your selected trees which gives, instant armour guard if you set the Ai  to use it. Alongside a Warcry taunt, will have a full guard instantly.

Who uses sheild wall anyway unless your an Ai or are fighting a troll or 2hander?

There are three Arena-like structures on the eastern side of the map and each one of those has a Dragon. They are at levels 19, 21 and 23 while the Hinterlands dragon is level 12. So it is a good idea to fight the lower level dragons before facing the ones at Emprise du Lion.

Your other characters (Blackwall and Cassandra) can´t be weak because they level up with your companions. Take out Iron Bull, he is a 2 handed Warrior (unless you have builded him otherwise, and you haven´t) with Reaver specialization so he is a DPS whose strategy consist on suffering as much damage as possible to boost himself and perform devastating attacks, not a Tank. Blackwall is the best tank of the game and has the best specialization for that purpose (Champion) and since he uses the same equipmen as Iron Bull (except race gated equipment like Vitaars) you should use him instead of Bull, equip Blackwall with your best armors (and take them from Bull if he has them, as I say, Bull´s purpose is not to have a high defense) and use Blackwall with all the Guard skills and Taunt to Tank the dragon.

Since the dragon´s most deadly attack is a wind attack that doesn´t hit those who are in the mele range, you should have at least another mele attacker, use either Bull or Cole (better Cole, Assassain is the best and most devastating DPS specialization of the game) and the other 2 should be 1 support mage for Barriers (I normally use Solas for that purpose) and you. If you are the support mage, I recomend you to use Vivienne as the other mage because with her Knight Enchanter (KE) specialization she can join the mele fight and make more damage while not being affected by the dragon´s most devastating attacks (the wind attack he performs with the wings, and to a lesser extend, his fire breath which is very easy to evade if you are in a mele range), if well builded, with the proper KE skills and with good equipment, she can even single handedly take out the dragon herself thanks to the KE specialization. If you are not a mage, then I assume you are a Rogue with bow and arrows, so buy one of those amulets who resets your skill try and create a 2 dagger Rogue with Assassain specialization if possible, and Tempest if not.

I had far, far more trouble with Hinterlands dragon, than with Crestwood one. Her fireballs are just brutal.

kill the trash that arives(freeze) and keep cas on the draggon

when she flys of to the rock tactics off run under it and stay there(tactics on and hold)

Different people = different builds. We could argue all day about what to add or take away, but that's not the point.

To get to Unbowed you'd have to invest 2 points. IMO only worth it if you have the points to spare, i.e. at a higher level.

Shield Wall is incredibly useful, especially if you are controlling the tank and timing its usage well, it basically makes you immune AND builds guard. It works great against casters, archers, groups of melee, s&s enemies, bosses, you name it. Granted, it's probably overkill for normal mode, but I still would not play a tank without it.

Hope this wasn't mentioned before...

You can negate a lot of fire dmg, and get great fire resistance items (use exploit to dupre for party) from the fire rooms in the temple in oasis... you'll need some shards too.  Each room gives you more natural fire resistance.

BTW, save some shards for the last ice room amulet BTW.
