Just get the bull a 1h + shield and get the passives. You're then good to go!

Well. Given the frustration you seem to have, then yes -- if you are not into min/maxing, get him as a 1h+ shield for at least Dragons.

You can have four level 11-12 mages, decked out in T2 fire resistance gear, using a T2 Magister's Staff with T2 obsidian as the base, all packing energy barrage, and kill the dragon in under 5 minutes... on Nightmare, without controlling anyone other than your own mage, and no specializations unlocked.
The Fereldan Frostback's most dangerous move is the vortex, which is nullified by not running away, and his breath attacks, which is nullified by fire resistance gear.

Done it at level 10 on Nightmare. I normally do it at level 11 on Nightmare. Tier 1 gear, pre-skyhold/mage/templar quest/Nospecialization. It's not too bad. My quickest kill was 10 minutes, my longest 25 minutes. My best potion-count was 2 used, my worst was 9. I am still looking at ways to get more optimal early-game setup to take it down sub-5 minutes. I hear people say they can; I have yet to see it.

really telling me what difficulty you're at really doesn't impress me (it actually pisses me off). I'm not playing this for "hey I BEAT IT AT NIGHTMARE WHY CANT;' you" comments . It only makes people feel like they are stupid for not doing it at a difficulty level (and also inferior), I'm playing this for "fun" and the I play it at the difficulty level that is challenging , but not toe thpoint where i'm going to end up throwing my controller through the tv and gigve upon the game altogether (one of the reasons I stopped playing final Fantasy IV way back when because you coudn't get past one area, if you were leveled high enough)

Of course I'm angry. I could beat dragons on the most difficult setting in DAO and DA2 yet DAI and I'm like "what the frack am I doing wrong", and at times in the game when you should.
