The key is DPS. The hinterland one flies away on occasions so that makes her a bit longer to kill, it gets easier for the other ones. You need to figure out a way to do a massive amount of damage in a short time. OR using an Knight Enchanter. I had a dual wield rogue, I remember bringing nearly all of them to 1/3-1/2 health in the first 10 seconds of the battle, using mark of the rift and mark of death combined with thousand cuts. After that it's walk in the park. keep your mage out with fade step, keep your tank on guard and shield, rotate shield pop with mages. It's very easy once you get it.

don't have mark of death (just the rift one)
and using that does bupkiss to the dragon (brought it down 10%)
don't have anyone with thousand cuts (cole isn't specced out because I dont use him and don't plan to)

my tank is 2h not sword and shield

None of my mage have fade anything (only ice and spirt and ice and electricity)

okay my character has 50% fire resistance (still dies by fire)
one mage is 21% fire resistance

so it looks like i have no specialization

Go to the war table and do the mission "specialization for the inquisitor" (or something like that).

It should be there, Western part of Ferelden, on or close to the mountains if I am not mistaken.
If it is not there, then you already have the specialization trainers waiting for you at the courtyard.

My advice is to go for the Tempest. I know some players are biased towards the Assassin, but the Tempest offers the easiest and cheapest damage output and it is pretty low maintenance.
You can even take that Dragon down in a matter of seconds with an optimal Tempest.

I found the Hinterlands dragon easier than that Crestwood one. I can't do him :(

I was lvl 12 when I killed HInterlands one.

Hardmode.

Archer Assassin Quizzy

Dorian

Solas

And S&S Bull.

BTW, how do I get my characters to stay where I want them to be? Especially after I my guys get sucked into the dragon during one of her attacks.

Taction mode doesn't work for me (the characters never do what I want them to do).

I was fighting their AI way more than I was fighting enemies. Turn AI off for ranged characters. They still will auto attack while you are in tac cam, also set in tactics for all characters including melee ones "defend (name of that character)" instead of "follow" as is set by default.

They will hold position pretty much all the time this way.

If you aren't keen in using only tac cam, just the part of setting tactics to defend themselves, instead of following will help.

okay so can't use TAC camera (it doesn't work for me.  i gave up using it around level 10 since the characters didn't follow my command using it)

what abilities do I put in the slots for Cassandra. I re-specced he (how do I determine the default/first use ability for them?)

edit: found the three idiots. went for tempest. There was nothing on the map or journal to indicate specialization from these nutwipes

why are you being rude? its not a factor at all. either answer my questions or just leave.

its not like the game is being helpful in this, so that is why I am here

How do you know when you buy shcematics from the merchant that they are tier 3 schematics? i don't see a way to examine them to see what the the tier level is.

Alright. That is going to help you. Being level 18 and having no Specialization and no Tier 3 Equipment isn't actually being level 18.

I have some videos to show what a Tempest can do to poor Dragons.
These videos are not mine, I just happen to come across them on Youtube/Bioware Social Network. Also, the second and the third videos use an infamous glitch that I do not encourage to be used (they break the fun of the game), but they can add to the Tempest's arsenal if that is what it takes to kill Dragons (until they get fixed, if they ever get).
The first video is the most amazing of all and no glitch whatsoever, believe it or not.
