I feel like there is not much point to promoting a character. I think doing this is killing two birds with one stone. Little more incentive to promote your characters and mages don't get left high and dry for 70 hours without a decent staff. Because unless you are really lucky staffs and cloth are the rarest item classes in the game.

The item could be a ring, belt, weapon, armor, or amulet. But it is guaranteed to be a high level rare or unique geared towards the class you promoted. So even if you are extremely lucky and don't get duplicates of the same type of item you will still need to promote that character 5-7 times before being loaded up on high level rare / unique gear.

I don't feel like this happening is very likely though because I feel like Bioware (probably more along the lines of EA) would be more willing to add chests that you can buy with Platinum that have a higher chance of giving you a rare / unique because greed.

Well you would still be able to buy it with gold just like the chests now. But there is that option to buy it with platinum. But with the way I am talking about doing it there is no money to be made.

Edit: Also if we did have rare chests nobody would buy the regular chest anymore even if they cost more. I think the whole rare chest idea is a lazy patch fix to a bigger problem in my opinion.

They need to do something, I'm up to 204 challenge rating and earned just over 150k gold, always buy large chests. Yet still all my best weapons are Common rarity item lvl 20, only have one item lvl23 and its common too. Not a single useful unique item in all my time played besides accesories.

whatthedeuce23, I used a white quality sword and dagger until about 300k gold spent. I think for 150k and have not even 1 level 20+ blue is somewhat unlucky but not inconceivable. Anyway just wanted to let u know that you getting the short end of the RNG stick is BS, but such BS is exactly what the current loot system allows for. I've made probably 2 dozen posts just on the loot system because it is so bad, and imo, its so universally hated that they are going to lose a lot of players until they fix the loot system or at the very least introduce a new chest for high level rares and uniques as a stopgap measure.

Even if such a chest only has 20-30% greater odds of a high level rare or unique as existing chests in terms of gold spent, have the disadvantage of not containing potions or commons, and cost 5k gold each, it would make everyone enjoy the game much more because at least they can get decent blues, i.e. level 18+, and not have to review all the useless junk they got while salvaging them for  materials they no longer need after ~200k gold.
