So... I know this is not an issue many will consider of consequence, but I just can't abide the colour scheme the rank & file inquisition soldiers have ended up with. The combination of green and orange just looks so clownish rather than being the new authority.

I've got the DAI art book (which I heartily recommend to anyone as a good Christmas present, there's loads of awesome things inside) and I'm pretty sure it actually mentions that the Inquisition's signature colours were supposed to be charcoal and crimson, largely because the Seekers had black and the Chantry had red. There's even concept pictures of the rank & file with these much more utilitarian colours and it looks substantially better.

So how did we end up with such garish colours in the finished product?

There a great many issues to be sure.  With modifications to modeling, even textures can get fouled, some of it may be in how frostbite treats surfaces. I don't know how the system reports or deals with item errors, but in many games an offset color is a clue that the texture is not complete or being reproduced correctly.
