That said, after that and Adamant Fortress, there should've been an option to make him perform the Joining. Even if that is kind of a stupid idea considering what you just learned about Corphyeus' power over Grey Wardens.

If you take the Wardens on as allies rather than exiling them, you can render a verdict that Blackwall will join the Grey Wardens after Cory has been defeated.  Since I had head-canoned that he'd already effectively been conscripted by Blackwall #1, I felt like that was the best option.

I really liked the character; sure he's stuffed up, done terrible things.  But he struggles to redeem himself; he works to become a better person, and he's prepared to die to do it.  He could have continued the lie, and simply recruited Mornay, but he fessed up, risking the rejection of the only institution which could protect him.

Blackwall is always in my party! He is a beast and my dragon killing twin! lol I don't leave home without him!  ;)

Vivienne is not welcome in any of my plays....can't stand her one bit!

Sera took some time getting use to, she means well....just immature mostly! Having her w/Blackwall in a party can be really funny!

I like pairing him with Cassandra when I need the power, and he's a nice guy, but he's a bit dull to be honest.

Whatever you do, DON'T pair him with Vivienne in your team. He's polite and differential to her to the point where he will take her bs (unlike Sera and Dorian that stick up for themselves...), and I'm sitting there wanting to punch her in her face even more than usual for talking to him like that.

On the other hand, Bull acts differential to her as well and she loves HIM to bits.

Why does noone like Blackwall?

btw, Sera is overrated

I love him.

blackwall is a strong and powerful warrior..he could be a good leader of the army because he make not much words and act instead.

after cullen is blackwall the perfect choose to get the rank of a commander.

blackwall looks like that he could follow the dark side sometimes...then he looks like a villain...he is a shady character .. thats what i love.

into a other world to a other time he could be the perfect enemy .

I like taking Blackwall along. He has great banter with The Iron Bull and Sera, and is a great tank. My party is usually either Blackwall/Bull/Sera with my mage!Lavellan, or Cassandra/Bull/Varric with my mage!Lavella, and I have tons of fun with both combos. I agree that he's underrated, though that's perhaps precisely why I find myself liking him. Him, Bull and Sera is such a party of misfits, it's great.

Given how I play only mages, and Blackwall can get downright unkillable he is always in my party. As for the character himself, I found him boring and sometimes a little bit grating before the reveal, but i started to warm up to him after the revelation, since I understood why he was like that, and Sera (even though I have a kind of burning hatred for her reserved only for Vivienne and Liara), and a few other companions to a lesser extent, really bring out his funny side in party banter.  His crime itself kinda passed right by me since I was pretty "meh" about it, I only wish we could tell him to get over his Grey Warden fanboy-ism.

I always bring blackwall in my party because well I usally play as a mage, so i need two warriors which of course if Blackwall and Iron Bull.

He's really good when I bring him for dragon hunting and can handle himself well in a battle.

Too overkill for a tank roll, without the perks of Cassandra as 2 hander. Personality-wise he's grown on me, although 90% of the time he is still pretty boring.

As for Sera, I hoped for a character similar to Kasumi Goto (my favorite ME character), what I got was a selfish and childish elf that doesn't make sense. At least the possible Andruil angle is interesting enough to keep her.

I'm now post-game and I'm forced to use him as my tank because Cassandra became the Divine... so far very little party banter between him, Dorian and Vivienne, and I don't think I can do companion quests anymore after I completed the main questline.

I too found Blackwall boring until I bothered to get to know him. I won't give spoilers, but if you delve into his story, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

actually no. There are hardly any "evil" decisions in this game so please don't even try that one. He decides since he disagrees with you you're a self serving thug because we all know Blackwall is the beacon of righteousness.

I have never in any of my playthroughs had Blackwall react badly to me or gotten the "antagonistic" dialogue.

As far as I know of you can only get that if you drop him to the very bottom of the Approval triggers, and that pretty much requires you picking every "Evil" or "Cruel" dialogue and RP option that comes up in the first two acts.  Blackwall's Approval awards are based on helping others, selfless deeds, and placing the good of the helpless above all, particularly over the Game.  He shares this in common with Sera.  You don't even have to bring him along on hardly any of the Grey Warden artifact quests.  I think just finishing them and then bringing them back to him in conversation afterwards results in "Great Approval".  I think I most recently cut him out of all but one of those recover points, and I still got major brownie points with him.

I think it's pretty obvious your hate-on for Blackwall comes from the fact your Inkie is just a terrible person!  :-P

I've gotten him being very short with me at the beginning, when he's first recruited. I then realised that this was due to my disbanding the Templars (which nets you a greatly disapproves) which I did at level 4 so I could get Cole ridiculously early (I'm doing a constant Cole party so I can get all his dialogue). He warms up really quickly afterwards though.

As for his personality. I romanced him on my first playthrough (flirted with everyone and then accidently was stuck with him when I wanted Solas) and I found that he perhaps wasn't the most interesting of characters. He's not bad, just a bit "meh" for me, even after the reveal. Still, he's someone who did some bad crap and spent a good number of years atoning for it. The fact that he's a pretty bad ass tank also helps.

No it doesn't. Recruiting the templars via conscription isn't evil. And neither is siding with Briala for that matter.

Do do tell me what evil actions you take that are evil in game. Something you don't agree with =/= evil.

But do try to tell me about my character. Because you know that's a proper argument. And you not getting certain dialogue means the only way to get it is by playing an evil character. Because there's only two types of character in Inquisition good and evil right? Yeah that's how it must work because Blackwall is "good" and therefore anyone he dislikes MUST be evil because that's how some people really thinks it works.  Protip: That's not how it works.
