And I have a few questions before the game finishes installing. What is the strongest class in the game? What is the weakest? Lastly, do the different races all have different starting points in the story, or is it the same regardless of the race I choose?
Just got the game,

Strongest is Mage -> Knight Enchanter spec. Well, it's the hardest to kill, anyway.
All starting points are the same.

Each race (except Human) has a few bonuses. It says when you are choosing the race.
Has for class, mage is arguably the best one, but IMO, the best class is the one you feel more confortable with. For me, long range classes are better so Rogue/Archer or Mage are no brainer.

Opinions seem to be divided, when it comes to classes. Some say that Knight Enchanter is the most powerful, other that Tempest or Assassin are. Some even mention the Reaver.
I played neither of those classes so far, so it's hard to tell for now.

One of the strongest NPCs in my game is Cassandra. She is usually the only character besides my KE still standing after a tough fight.

All races start at the same point story-wise.
I'd say no class is best, they're designed to work together rather than compete for dps or whatever, hence no pvp multi.

Knight Enchanters are, individually, the most powerful. Weakest? I have no idea. And you start at the same point regardless of species.

Blackwall is better, because Champion makes you invincible.

Not related, but as a general tip: don't try to finish everything in the first area or you will get somewhat jaded and possibly overlevel. Go somewhere else and come back later. You don't have to fear getting locked out like Lothering in DAO.

Hmm, thanks for the tip. I tend to explore everywhere in the first level when a game opens up for me. Thanks for the tip. It should help me enjoy the game more. ![]()
Thanks to everyone else for the answers. Saved me from trying every race because I tend to try out different beginnings in games to see which one I find the most interesting. Saved me the hassle of making two characters.
Decided to just go with a dual wielding rogue. Just fits what I enjoy doing in these games more than any other class. I like how strong they made Stealth so far.

DW Elf here. Killing bears with daggers since 9:35 Dragon.

Dwarf archer here. One of the reasons why I choose that combination outside of my love for both the race and the class is because it gave me the best vantage of my surroundings. By playing ranged with more armor than a mage, I stand a distance and watch the battle. This has given me the chance to really learn the fights and learn my surroundings without a butt in my face. Also, a well timed Long Shot can easily nail a dragon while she's in the air.
It's also great fun too. The Assassin spec will give you Cloak of Shadows as well as the nice passives and Mark of Death. The stealthing comes in handy for disrupting rifts. Just make sure the others have aggro first. ![]()

Most areas have broad range of enemy levels - plus dragons (Hinterlands 4-12) so this is definitely a must.
And that avatar of yours is a lot better angry jellyfish than Blasto.

Without giving too much away, be very very careful when you hit the camp in the NE part of the Hinterlands. There is a path to the NW that leads out of the camp you do not want to take until about level 10-11 that will lead into an open area.
Also, be careful around Redcliffe Farms for a similar reason.
