Seems like his summaries are point then.

Not that I have a problem with the 10/10 GOTY fans, just if it hits that target you're either easily satisfied / have rather low expectations. Alternatively you're ignoring the flaws of the game. Likewise, I cannot abide those who trash the game, it's a good game at the end of the day.

Right so, if we like the game, we're either idiots who will consume anything that's put in front of us, chumps who have never even heard the word "standards", or morons who stick our fingers in our ears and yell "LALALALLALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU" as loud as we can.

Gotcha.

I'm trying to see how this would even work. Runners? It's not like I can pull out my Thedaslink IPad, or other smart phone, and communicate my desires. So the side quests and stuff aren't immersive enough, so let's break the immersion more by summoning my Advisors out to the field to send them on missions?

Send ravens back to base with a message...You only need to be at the table for story missions. For little things like reading a report or sending someone to collect metal for example, this would work much better.

It would not break immersion anywhere near as much as, whilst out exploring, fast-traveling back to base, doing it there, fast traveling back to where you were!

Yea, nice hyperbole... seriously, why people get all defensive when their critical thinking skills are put into question? ;)

Joking aside: DAI is a flawed game, that's not opinion, that's objective fact... that doesn't mean it can't be GOTY material. It certainly is one of the best RPGs that came out this year.

I have almost 90 hours into the game and I cannot recall a single NPC from a side quest.

Wait, there was that guy who was studying Dragons in the desert.  I remember that was a guy who existed and did things.

Thank you for pointing out again that we're all idiots for liking this game, Mr. I've-Worked-25-Years-in-Gaming-and-So-I-Know-Better-Than-You-You-Plebians.

What would we do without you?

I feel the same way.  The only way I was able to finish my last play through was to download a trainer so I could be the Inquisitor and not a miner or gardener, and so I could skip a lot of the boring side quests.

See, here is the flaw with your whole premise (besides your totally egoistic view on your own opinion being worth so much more because you've played games for a few decades - as though no one who has played as many games can have differing opinions)....

Every game (at least every big, modern game, and certainly every RPG ever made) is a flawed game. 10/10 in gaming simply doesn't mean "Perfect." If it did, the score would never occur in this day and age. (Not that gaming scores mean ****.) Big games simply can't be flawless. You name a game, and I can name it's flaws. Same with people, actually. But if it's GOTY material and an enjoyable game, I'm personally not focused on it's flaws, same as if someone is a person worth liking, I'm not focused on their flaws. I might even find said flaws endearing at times. This does not make me a simpleton. It does not mean I cannot critically think or am easily amused. It simply means I have a different temperament. And that less flaws often doesn't equal more fun, to me. In games or in people.

Also, as to individual flaws, we will have trouble agreeing as a community on what is "flawed" about games. Some flaws are more factual (crashes, bugs) and others are more opinion (quest design, story preferences), but I think all games are likely flawed in some way - to some people or to everyone. A quest design I love might seem repetitive or dull to another, due to including things like notes or natural exploration.

I couldn't agree more with TotalBiscuit. He hit the nail straight on the head.

The game had a lot of potential to be very good, because the main quest and writing are pretty good, but they bloated up the game with so much boring busywork filler. Who enjoys picking flowers and collecting other banalties for hours on end or doing mundane fetch and fedex quests or having to constantly kill respawns that fall from the sky or doing other underdeveloped and boring tasks in these huge but empty and lifeless areas?

I am surprised that he didn't say much about the combat though, which is also really (really, really) bad IMO.

Well... I actually enjoy it. Most of it. During the week I've had a lot of fun just running around exploring Crestwood and Emprise du Lion for hours at end, and the side missions in those areas actually felt like something an Inquisitor would stop to do: seal underwater rifts, killing a powerful demon (or Choice spirit, my bad) taking over keeps, freeing villagers from red templars... granted, there were a few fetch quests on the way but most side quests felt interesting, IMHO.

I can't complain that there's too much content. I just like running around, then finding a random-ass cave in the middle of nowhere, and look! There's some interesting stuff in here! There's even elven wallpaintings! But I get that it's not for everybody, not everybody gets excited over random caves in the middle of nowhere the way I do, lol. It would have been great if the Inquisition had worked a bit like ME's war assets. I mean, even if I enjoyed many of the side missions and the exploring it would have been better if the outcome of those missions actually had made a difference in the end.

yeah, that's pretty cool thing... but the problem is there's nothing to it, there are just caves with elven paintings but... that's just it. where's the damn story? where is the awesome quest? instead... bring 10 flowers.

The same people who played DAO and DA2 because those are the same things you did in the other games.

Ah yes, the "famous" person who has opinions we should somehow value more than our own. We have dismissed this claim.

Not always, sometimes you'll find something interesting that actually makes the exploration worthwhile. Oh, what's this further into the cave? A Veilfire brazier? That must mean one of the elven runes is nearby... ah, there it is! Master frost rune, come into my arms! Or when I killed a random spider and found the recipe for healing grenades on it. Stuff like that actually makes exploration worthwhile and rewarding.

But the requisition quests at the camp? Pick 10 of these, then 5 of these? I pick them up but never turn them in. They're just a quick way to grab some extra power, but run around do some actual interesting side quests and you'll never lack for power again.

Sadly, that says very little. Being the best by default is a very dubious honor.

Ok, I am going to end this idiotic strawman for once and all. Show me the post that says this. Show me the person saying you should value totalbiscuits opinion over your own. If you cant do that, then just knock it off.

Also, you seem pretty butthurt. Why is famous in quotes? Hate to break it to you but he is famous.

Actually, i am pretty sure all these attacks on people saying "ur a sheep why do you care what this guy thinks more then your own opinion" are pretty much just thinly veiled jealousy.

Jealous of what? A podcast? Pretty sure all these people that are acting like sheep are just afraid to have their own opinion, because then somebody might question them, and they won't know how to answer. I mean, if we want to just throw **** around, I can play that. However, there are plenty of "have low standards/easy to please", some of them by you, in this very thread. Sorry, do you not like being called out for things you say, but would rather hide behind "but look, someone agrees with me, so you must be wrong"? I realize this is BSN, and you feel like you have to be part of the mob, but really, coming out with this, after some of your posts in this thread, and whats in the podcast? Sorry to disappoint, but hey, you like what you like, I like what I like. If those two overlap, that's great. If they don't, it in no way indicates that one or the other of us is more "right". Personal tastes are, at the end of the day, personal. I'm sorry that you can't wrap your head around that, but really, that's nobody's fault but your own.

Oh, and before you try to lay out the age makes you more experienced, call me when you grow up. I'm 51 years old, and know what I like in games. Any doubts you have about my personal tastes can be checked at the door, because, quite frankly, I'm going to like what I like, whether that gets your panties in a bunch or not. In fact, I sort of hope it does, so that I can watch you trying to untie them while telling me I shouldn't like things I do because "famous reviewer said...".

Jealous of the money he makes for simply playing games and making videos. Yeah, the people complaining about "sheep" reek of jealousy, yourself included.

Pretty sure all these people that are acting like sheep are just afraid to have their own opinion, because then somebody might question them, and they won't know how to answer.

Here you go again with this bs about "sheep" So anyone that agrees with his points on the game is a "sheep" and anyone that disagrees isnt. Yeah that makes sense.

I mean, if we want to just throw **** around, I can play that.

You can play that? Wow man thanks for sharing, try not to cut yourself on all that edge.

However, there are plenty of "have low standards/easy to please", some of them by you, in this very thread.

Really? There are? Here is every post I have made in this thread.

I mostly disagree, buuuuuut, the vast majority of the side quests ARE boring. And there are just. so. many. of. them.

Literally no one in here is saying this.

Soo yeah, where are the parts where I say anything remotely close to "have low standards/easy to please"? You are either the dumbest liar ever to spout this bs about what I have said, or you have me confused with someone else in some sort of demented fit. Sorry Gothfather, but I'm 37 years old and have been playing (and writing for) RPG's (computer and otherwise) for close to 25 years now. Fantasy has ben an integral part of my life and is one of my biggest passions. So, you may not like my choice of words, but, for all intents an purposes, I am more then qualified to judge whether a game in "my" genre is crafted solidly or lazily... giving my background, however, I am also not that easily excited by a new game anymore, the way some of my younger/less experienced fellow gamers might be, and I'm aware of that. That's what I meant when I wrote: "Easily entertained".

Also, I didn't post the vid to change anybodies opinion on the game, I just posted it because TB pretty much makes all my points for me, far better then I could off the top of my head... that's all.

LMAO

You just made an argument from authority. You don't actually address any points you just say my opinion matters more because I am in a position of authority. This is a classic argument by those who have a weak position. http://en.wikipedia...._from_authorityYou make a claims with no proof and simply say i'm right because I'm in authority.

Yet another post on the internet of people claiming things with no way to verify.
