Telling the truth in a callous way doesn't mean you were making the right judgment. You do not believe in prayer. That is within your right. But, the OP doesn't believe that nor cares to believe your atheism. It makes you look like a callous ass.

 

Furthermore, from what little is given, the OP's uncle is debilitated in his respiration from long-term smoking. The uncle is also probably septic. There is a likelihood he is in the intensive care unit on a ventilator plus aggressive antibiotic therapy. These are difficult circumstances. But, blasting them with atheist **** isn't helping anyone. People get defensive, not contemplative about the nature of the universe. So, please have some empathy. You're not displaying any right now.
