Why do people talk like "DLC" and "expansions" are two completely different things?
I mean, all DLC adds to and expands the game, and you download expansions. It irks me.

I'd love to see expansions, DLC and whatever since that would mean new content for me to play! And there's plenty of room to expand the story, perhaps more war table stuff, meaningful sidequests, skyhold upgrades and maybe even some old character from previous games, as I kinda want Justice to happen ![]()
Anyway, my most wanted of any DLC stuffs would be something with The Warden from Origins. He's my favorite character of the series, alongside Morrigan. How convenient.
But as this is a no spoilers section, I won't comment on it anymore, I just say that there's plenty of wiggle room to any direction with this game.

Im hoping for maybe a bit of everything, 1 major expac an some dlc hopefully some fluff aswell ie cosmetic dlc like armors hairs etc
I'll take a little of both if the price is right. I don't mind DLC-type side quests, but back it up after 2 and put out a full 25-30 hour expansion.
Yeah, when I see expansion, I just assume its DLC. I guess I can see how a PC gamer might think otherwise, but I'm a Playstation guy. Mass Effect was the first game I'd ever played with add on missions via dlc and I've been gaming since the 80s.
I hope they go the way that they had planned with DA2. A couple of dlc's and they have to be in the range of 3 - 5 hours and an expansion at the end to cement the story of the Inquisitor. And then we move on to DA4 or DAwhatevertitleitwillbe

There was an expansion planned to DA2?
Re the difference between dlc and expansions: dlc is limited in how big it can be by the distribution services's filesize limits (e.g. 2GB for xbox360 I believe?), where as a full blown expansion can be much bigger if it's sold as essentially another game, and would probably be sold in boxed form for some platforms.
Awakening was an expansion that lasted 15-20 hours. Essentially a game.
Bioware has stated they will not do awakening sized expansions for DAI. However they are doing story based dlc, the first of which is in the works already and will unfortunately be released on Xbox one before the other platforms.
This was stated by the devs then? Have a source handy at all?

Irked by a question? maybe you should put some relaxation music on such as waterfalls or raindrops, it helps.

Bring back Desire Demons in their original hot forms in future DLC/Expansion please! Male and Female models would be awesome based on your characters LI gender. They are the most interesting enemy, please bring them back!

There was a recent interview with Mark Darrah (which I can't find - curse you, Google!) where he said they have no plans for a full expansion. Apparently Awakening took too long, cost too much and didn't sell well enough to justify the investment. This may have something to do with why Exalted March got canned.
I'd expect to see two or three installments of DLC comparable in length and content to Legacy and Mark of the Assassin.

I thought I'd seen it mentioned that an expansion pack was unlikely. I remember feeling disappointed when I read it, but if they've got doubts due to historic experiences, then I can't argue that.
As for the DLC being exclusive to the xb1 before everyone else, I'll take that, particular seeing as everyone else seems to get patches before the xb1 ![]()

I'm a playstation guy too, and there was a significant difference between, say, Lelianas Song, and Awakening. Don't get me wrong, both were great, but Leliana's song was like an extra quest, 1, maybe 2 hours long? Whereas Awakening was a collection of quests, an entire new roster of characters, new level caps, a new world map (opposed to one or 2 single area maps), a new overall story arc and home base, etc. The difference was certainly unmistakable.
I could see it going into smaller chunks with the story getting tied together. I think the days of a full-blown expansion are behind us now. Most companies don't do expansions, they do DLC. Which is smaller and easier to test.
I loved Awakening, I did, but I have a post full of PC bug fixes designed by modders. That game had some serious issues.

For my taste I'd rather have a bit of a shorter but sweeter experience if that means a less buggy game. Well, as long as the DLC plays nicely with the core game on a technical level. <big glare at ME2, ME3 and DA2>
alhough i would prefer expansion, i want this expansion to remain focused on the story and characters we met already. like expanding directly upon the ending and adding more meaningful side-quests in exisiting areas that are now a bit inconsequential.
so in this regard i believe multiple story dlc's would also serve the same purpose, so it doesn't matter to me how we call it. but i agree with what was said earlier- DAI feels like a really good foundation for adding stuff into and on top of it. entirely new side story seems kind of a waste since main campaign begs for extended length and side quests for more impact.

Price was the reason they aren't going to do a full blown Awakening styled expansion. It's essentially a medium sized game. They're still doing story based content, it'll just be their average DLC. (Mark of The Assassin, Legacy, Omega, Citadel, etc.)

I can very much appreciate that.
I'm a huge fan of Dragon Age.
I like Mass Effect.
As a huge fan of Dragon Age, I literally threw a £20 note at my TV without much thought in exchange for awakening.
As someone who just 'likes' Mass Effect, I thought £20 was a bit steep for Citadel. It's £12 now, and I still think it's steep.
So yeah, I get that the appeal of a bigger, more expensive expansion pack probably only really appeals to the more hardcore fan base, and is ultimately likely to produce a loss.
hoping expansion the game is glorious and playing further regions would be awesome.
Dont forget RDA, sales are just numbers and wont take note of the buyers remorse numbers or actual replay value of the product.
By EA, just sale numbers counts and customer satisfaction or even loyalty is not part of their metrics. Already the multiplayer is a big sign of this.
You haven't even played the game. But you're always here telling everyone it sucks and it's selling poorly with nothing to back it up.
As for OP i hope we get an expansion the world is too big not to build on, they could easily keep this game alive for a very long time.
I suspect things are moving towards dlc. They might make DLC the size of a traditional expansion, but I wouldn't expect it like in the past. A lot of recent EA games have done the DLC and no traditional expansion. For example, Dead Space 3.
A big expansion would be nice, if they expand on all aspects of the game. Including romance arcs etc. ![]()
