I'm still not understanding what "Focus" does? I found a unique belt that grants 30% to Focus bonus. Can anyone explain what focus does for your character?

Its allows u to use a Focus ability.

Focus is a special ability either as main character or unlocked as part of a specialization, all that happen right before or after you reach skyhold. Each have varying degrees of use, usually as an "ultra" ability for each character. It builds up based on the damage you do, or, if you take the passive in it's specific tree, through cross-class combos. As it builds up each level can be triggered to activate it, then it is reset.

In my opinion, if using on main character or a Tempest Rogue/Templar Tank, it is definitely worth equipping.

It would be really, really nice if your Focus abilities were on the tactical Radial menu instead of taking up your precious 8 ability slots.

 

The focus abilities are cool, especially in a crunch, but given their power-up times (to regen focus) I use them so infrequently I feel like I'm "wasting" a spot.

I dunno. the only one I use regularly besides Mark of the Rift is Cassandra's Rally on a Tank build. I have it preferred in Tactics and not on the ability slots and she uses it whenever she can.

As powerful as these abilities are im always saving mine, so i end up never using it. I should probably start using mine more, or switch it out with another spell i won't save as much.

Cassandra's Rally is awesome, and the AI is pretty good about using it too. Unlike Dorian with his Haste  . AI never wants to use it.
