there are lots of City elves, there aren't many Dalish because nomadic wandered who occasionally get themselves wiped out aren't exactly conducive to population growth
Your joking right city elven are in danger as well it's smaller population than it was before exalted March
smaller population yes, under pressure by humans yes, but the elven race is not about to be snuffed out after the Exalted march, there are Alienages with thousands of city elves, come cities in the Dales remain elven majority according to the codex
The more likely way for the elven race to die is if they start reproducing with humans more openly. Since the child of an elf and a human will aways look human (with some elven traits at time, such as Fenryiel). But that would likely take hundreds of years to happen.

Besides the fact that the dwarves didn't attack Kal-Sharok themselves and then blame it on the humans, or besides the fact that I was speaking on the Dalish, who abandoned their own people to play freedom fighter in the woods, yeah, I hate most of Dwarven Nobility. This is why Bhelen is king.

Were the elves fighting a war for the very survival of their species against the Darkspawn? No.
Did the dwaves start said war? No.
Did the elves have the luxury of preventing it from happening in the first place? Yes.
Did they have the option of ending it before they destroyed themselves? Yes.
There's no universe with elves in the style of Tolkien ( I mean appearance ) were they don't **** everything up, even in LOTR they fucked up majorly with Sauron.

This is why there are wandering Dalish clans. The humans were not to be blamed for the calamity that destroyed Arlathan.
And byt the time they had settled in the Dales, long after they destroyed their own civilization, how could they resist a human invasion? Or any other people's invasion? They were scattered, without leadership, without military support. And right next door there was an empire slowly in expansion.
The humans were already asserting themselves as a empire in Tevinter. And the Old Gods, for some obscure reason, abandoned the elves and started whispering their magical secrets to the humans instead.
The result was further degradation of their race. In real world Hystory, that's what happens as well. Many great civilizations crumbled and the lasting survivors were enslaved by a new power, that rose and became an empire. Such was the fate of the Greeks, who had been enslaving other peoples long before the Romans.
Who knows if the elves hadn't been enslavers themselves in the glorious days of Arlathan? They may not be the fair-minded, pure hearted people we take them for...

^ I'm talking about the nobles abandoning the lower caste to their fate. Read the context of our discussion.
My point was that the situation was quite different. Whereas the elven nobility started a war that annihilated Arlathan the Dwarves didn't.
That the Dwarves treat their casteless like **** is well known, no one would argue the dwarves are blameless in their own fall, but it seems people want to pretend the elves are nice chaps despite them being dickheads.
