It's not like it was an uncomplicated case of a murder being the sole reason for the war, imo. :) Both sides didn't exactly seem to work strenously at staying out of conflict.

The elves were the worse at that. They did not even attempt to talk things threw on top of alienating everyone around them.

The Dalish have my utmost respect for steadfastly believing in their gods and refusing to bend knee to one god.

After all, that is the real crux of the situation and basis for any argument, no matter what argument; albeit circular and unending. At the forefront before any gauntlet or dagger is thrown; any arrow loosed, there are those who will not be broken. There are those who will continue to fight for the right to worship the "god" or "gods" of their choice.

I can say living in the US, a country that has a 97+% Christian populace, when you do not, is not easy, even in 2015.

I guess that puts me proudly on the Pro-Dalish brigade...Oorah!

Do we really have that many? Lol it seems like I meet more atheists nowadays than fellow Christians, especially in college.

Perhaps, monotheism would have been a better word choice. *Corrected that*

It just seems like the Dalish are the perfect example of a people trying to hold on to their beliefs despite the whole world siding against them, which just may indeed now include themselves.

And all of this...36+ pages seem to point to one incident...no matter how horrific, no matter who is to blame, as a catalyst for something that really happened when "war" (the original Inquisiton as revealed by Mother Giselle) was declared on their "religion", their belief.

I for one, certainly hope, BioWare doesn't intend now to take away their "gods" as well as their pride by painting them in such an unfavorable text, literally, most indicative by these very forums.

Dalish need to move on and stop blaming everyone else for their misery.

That ship already sailed n DA:I. The Elven Pantheon may have been powerful, even godlike, mages, but they weren't gods.

Immortal beings that can use magic to shape the world to their whim, sounds pretty damn god-like xD

You mean ones that can be killed, or lose the majority of their power by oversleeping?

I'm sure there are plenty of stories in our world of gods being killed and slapped about.

I seen a documentary where Thor gets slapped about by some big green thing and a man in a metal suit.

No statistical analysis's have pulled up numbers that high to my knowledge, but it is quite high in comparison to elsewhere usually (I think its like 75%). But theres absolutely no doubt there are far more christians than any other form of belief in the US.

And grats, you've met another atheist =P

Christian: 83%

No religion: 13%

Non-Christian Religion: 4%

Well its not that simple, the started out secularly, assuming the Dalish did not try and justify their invasion through religious reasoning which is possible but unknown.

The war became an Exalted March when the elves threatened the heart of the Chantry (and sacked it).  From then on it was a decidedly religious conflict for the participating Orlesians.  However before that we have evidence of elven intolerance of other religions, so these aren't really desperate people clinging to outlawed beliefs.  They were powerful enough to think they could beat Orlais, so its not really a case of everyone ganging up on the weird kid.

the chantry tries to be diplomatic so theres that reason

The Chantry is not trying to be "dimplomant" its about who the Divine is. Justinia was Diplomantic, tho that dosent mean there werent  war calling Divines.
