I'm serious, they recognize their fault in Red Crossing Massacre and send the Halla as an apology and a show of good faith for the future. It's not like they can pay reparations. They do admit fault, why are you so angry at them?

I just like the idea of and saying apology Halla.

they can drop the delusion that humans were responsible for anything besides defending themselves

But they don't, the Keeper keep going on and on how about "it seems that there was fault on both sides....."

No, no, you old codger, your people fucked up, own it instead of waffling about.

Humans who follow the command of the elven Inquisitor, and view him as a holy figure who was chosen by the Maker and Andraste. The same place where the Dalish can walk around freely, and where the Inquisitor's word to treat the mages as equals is accepted.

Why is your precious Slave to Mythal serving the voice of the Maker's Bride then, oh wise one? Ask the voices. Tell me what you hear.

I don't see how the murder of an elven woman by the humans of Red Crossing - either on purpose or by accident - had no bearing on what happened there later. If Siona's sister hadn't been killed she wouldn't have been half so desperate to get her brother Elandrin back. The codex entry literally says they went to Red Crossing to get Elandrin back, not to destroy the village. So it's not premeditated cold-blooded murder as you keep saying.

So what you're saying the fact they butchered an entire town is a okay and/or not cold blooded, cause the go to excuse is "Gee whiz, we definately did mean to THAT! Hugs?".

Seriously?

...

Allrighty then.

The elven Inquisitor doesn't need be Andrastian in order for Andrastian humans to see him as a religious figure; even when the Dalish Inquisitor is adamant that he isn't the Herald of Andraste, people believe that the Maker delivered him to save the world.

It's a terrible burden those humans bear.

To be the most powerful beautiful race in the setting... Those elves don't know how hard the humans have it.

That's not what I asked.

This thread is rapidly growing less productive. What say we give the opposition a chance to respond before we reply in their stead, hmm?

Skyhold is in the Frostback mountains, which is under Ferelden's sovereignty. Not that I think the crown will try and take it back, but it is nominally in his territory.

It's actually implied to be in Orlesian territory. Haven is in Ferelden.

The Inquisition's position with respect to Orlais and Ferelden in terms of sovereignty is, however, a total mess that is not really cleared up. That was almost certainly intentional on the writers' part, and it was a smart decision, but it means that we can't really make sweeping proclamations of what the Inquisition can and cannot legally do.

With that said, I think that describing Skyhold under a Dalish Inquisitor as "Dalish" territory is more than a little silly, but I suppose Lobsel's welcome to that headcanon if he so desires.

Which assumes the Inquisitor drank from the well, which is not true in all playthroughs.

Certainly not mine.

...I think you're being sarsactic, cause if so, right on man.

If not...well, "hey Humans, sorry that we killed an entire town and sparked a 10 year war and then spend years wrongly blaming humans for our own stupidity with a painful air of arrogance, but hell, have a halla."

....

It's a cultural thing you twit. I don't see how demeaning a cultural act of apologizing should net you any points. What the hell more can they do at this point? They have no land and are reviled throughout the land, deemed heretics and accused of performing ghastly acts. Not much being liked on their part (not that the Dalish perspective on humans s much better in some clans).

At its core, it's a goddamn start to proper diplomatic ties.

Would you say the same thing of Orlais? "Oh sorry we invaded your country and brutally repressed your people after conquering you and killing thousands. We promise not to do it again."

*does it again to a different nation*

...But that is exactly what it says, so I am not sure how else to react?

Because humans killing an Elven man in a fit of pique who's holding a woman and clearly grieving isn't worthy of blame.

The border skirmishes seem to suggest that both sides were aggravating each other until the incident. One of them could have stopped and it wouldn't have escalated to the point of war. That's where the 'fault on both sides' comes from. But they do recognize their fault in Red Crossing, hence the Apology Halla.

Well, it doesn't matter anyway what Lob wants to do. It's not like Mythal is going to let him ruin her plans, or whoever he's slaving for now.

The Frostback Mountains are on both sides of the border. Skyhold is also stated to be located in the Dales. "Following the destruction of Haven, an abandoned castle in the Dales known as Skyhold now houses the only thing keeping Thedas from its darkest hour."

Yes it would have. Some random elf woman got jealous her "brother" was going to sully his bloodline with smexy human genes, so she got pissed, got her friends, they killed her. They killed the people who saw them kill her. Then the human killed the one they saw surrounded by bodies and covered in blood, and instead of admitting they were wrong, they sacked the town and killed everyone.

I'm not talking to you, tbh. But the question is the same. There is no "pro-Dalish" Inquisition. Just a bro Dalish Inquisitor.

Hmm. Thank you.

Well, that does complicate things tremendously. A very important question has arisen, and Bioware is going to have to answer it: "What is the purpose of the Inquisition now that the Breach is sealed?"

I'm sure Lobsel would declare for the Dales and try to secure a homeland for them. Xil would probably try and ensure the freedom of the mages. To be honest, I'm half convinced disbanding it would be the best solution.

Maybe they hoped that torching down the village and butchering peasants would hide any evidence of their involvement.

And the Apology Halla is for that whole incident. But everything leading up to it is what the Keeper means when she says there's fault on both sides.

Welcome to the land of story DLC.

Characters ask the Inquisitor this question several times in-game, by the way.

It's still glaringly stupid, cultural or otherwise.

And the Invasion that happened because the Elves enacted an unprovoked act of war...actually, wait, the Elves the ones pushing into Orlais and burning cities. The Exalted March was called after that. Why would I have anything to say about Orlais?

Because humans killing an Elven man in a fit of pique who's holding a woman and clearly grieving isn't worthy of blame.

Was it redundantly stupid? Of course.

Does it have any bearing on what was to come? Nope, cause the Elves already began the war with their little act of savagery.

Your point?

Except Siona didn't know Elandrin was getting down in the dead of night with a human. No one did. By the time they realized what the hell was going on not only was she dead but they were being attacked by humans who thought they had murdered the young woman in cold blood. I won't say whether Siona did it in cold blood or not. It wasn't her intent and she could've had reason to suspect the woman was going to attack her (she was running towards them in the dead of night with something in her hand that they weren't sure what it was until after the fact), but then Siona was also in a precarious state of mind where she wanted vengeance.

But I mean, people use that same defense for cops. Emerald Knights are essentially mounties with attitude.

All Siona had to go off of was that he was seen with a woman looking at the Chantry. For all they knew she was a priest. That's exactly what everyone had suspected anyway until the young woman had died.

The reason why both sides are at fault is a combination of haste and vengeance on everyone's part.

Actually, Leliana as Divine can handle the mage issue.

Personally, I think it's unethical to use the Inquisition for issues that can't be justified by its original remit, and partisan cultural issues are sort of that. However, acting as an attempted bridge between the Dalish and the Andrastians is totally fine.

I'm just laughing that the Dalish figure that the apology of the slaughter of an entire village of people is worth one Halla.

Yes she did. She then went back to the other elves and saying he was being taken away by the humans. She felt betrayed, "She had already lost a sister. Must she also lose a brother?"

Go read the codex entry again. You need a refresher.
