Hi everybody! I need this thread like I need to breathe. It's been a long time since I found myself on the Bioware forums. I tend to lurk  . Aaaaannd... I have a weakness for elves. Especially if they're dark/mysterious/etc. I would LOVE to see more of Abelas. Either in Inquisition or another game further down the line. He's just so... unf.

I despise Abelas simply for the fact that his mere existence makes every one of my male Elf Inquisitors look like ass in comparison. Thank you Bioware for making the NPCs look cooler than anything I can crap out of this CC.

It would be nice if the CC wasn't dark and green. It's hard to get colors on the faces right when they're not even in real light.

I don't ever write in BW forums, I only lurk, but I giggled so much when I found about this thread, it's completely taken over by my art of this grumpy sad elf and I'm not sure if I should be really ashamed or really proud ;D uh oh. I love Abelas okay. if that wasn't obvious enough...

 

Honestly tho how do we convince Bioware to bring him back in the games in the future? It would be such a waste of a perfectly fine butt character if they forget about him. :c he has so much potential, both backstory wise and personality wise and let's not even talk about that face and bod Andraste save me

ikr, but from what I've seen it's getting better for us, more and more people seem to be falling for this elf.. ;D I remember when I first saw Abelas I went all 'oh no he's hot why is this random npc so hot i need to draw him just for the lulz' and suddenly I spiraled into full Abelas sadness and I can't get up.

I hope we'll see our beloved ancient elven grump again, despite his very brief appearance in the game he has piqued my curiosity,there's much potential for a character like him.

Ummmm, he liked my Inquisitor.

 

My Inquisitor, a mage, knew that disturbing sacred rites was an absolutely terrible idea, and would likely get him and his party killed.

 

Now, as for his vallasin...I don't think they are the same slave markings necessarily that the elven slaves wore of old. I would almost argue that they represent a symbolic enslavement to Mythal. But, then again, as another poster postulated, Abelas and his fellow Sentinels could be elite slave warriors similar to the Janissaries.

 

Well he technically is permanently bound to Mythal, so I find the latter more likely.

Welcome, Morty! I love your tumblr art blog with all the Abelas and Solas fan art. You're amazing! 

 

I just realized the male elves (at least in DA:I) all have dancers' bodies! That makes sense of why I'm drooling over them this time around, lol.

 

I just hope Bioware decides to use Abelas in a future game and explains away how he didn't really die when Morrigan stabbed him (if she did at all). Anders, Morrigan, Lelianna all got this treatment after they were sometimes killed in Origins or Awakening. He has so much potential and needs a new lease on life!

Oh a nice thread - is there anyone here could kindly make some print screens of the armor from the multiplayer for me by any chance?

I not playing that - but ever since I figured the armor is wearable by a character it could serve for me as excellent reference source for future works.

You forgot Oghren's miraculous survival which was p much 'haha nice try' But yes I have a theory of Abelas surviving due to the spirit (Mythal? Flemeth?) in the well helping him, I know it's probably very far fetched, but I need something to believe in! Actually I'm working on an art piece based on this (presumed) scene.

Because this is sort of the current topic of conversation, I thought I'd add to the discussion about music that might suit Abelas and/or ancient elves in general.

 

I regularly listen to Adrian von Ziegler and Brunuhville, two composers who have MANY Celtic-inspired songs, mostly instrumental. (I mean, Brunuhville just composed a song titled, "The Elven Prophecy.") Completely amazing songs....

Wow! I've never found another fan of those guys outside of their regular fandoms! That's so amazing..... Glad to find another fan because they seriously deserve to be working professional composers of video game soundtracks and movies (Adrian doesn't want to be, though, but I don't know about Bruno). I listen to their music while playing the Dragon Age games, especially the more Celtic-influenced stuff while running around in the Emerald Graves. It's perfect! 

 

Also, I think I've heard there's a mod for Adrian's music to appear while you play Skyrim.
