I accidentally stumbled upon a cool thread where many aspects of ancient elven lore were being discussed. It started with the Elves in Tirashan and their worship of the Forgotten Ones, but ended up discussing many other subjects, such as the defeat of Elghar'nan and even many possible correlations between different religions in Thedas, such as the Avvar gods and the Elven Pantheon.
Here it is, folks, in case you are interested, too: http://forum.bioware...the-last-court/
I was particularly impressed by references to an impact crater in Orlais, the site where it's said the Sun collapsed when Elghar'nan was defeated.
There's also mention of an Avvar ritual which involves singing to the gods, as a means to help a spirit be reborn. According to someone in the thread, such ritual would echo what Solas mentioned about Arlathan having spells that lasted for hundreds of years, the so-called eternal symphonies. It's been hinted there's a possible connection with the immortality of the Evanuris.
Someone even suggested there's the possibility that Mythal was Tyrdda Bright-Axe's lover. Seriously, it felt like I was rediscovering stuff from the lore that had previously made no sense. As if the scattered pieces of a puzzle were coming together and forming a picture. Overall, many interesting topics were brought into discussion that may help lost people like myself shed some light into the life of the elves from Arlathan's time.
If more Sentinels like Abelas and the elves of Tirashan might figure in DA4 (please, Bioware!), then let's hope the game will provide us with a chance to better understand what happened in Arlathan, the empire's connection to spirits and immortality, why the Evanuris banished the Forgotten Ones, their possible use of red lyrium and many more. Oh, and more Abelas, please. Make him a companion. At least in a quest. Please, Bioware?
