Speaking of art...

Okay, this is now in my headcanon. 6-8 months after Solas leaves, Abelas shows up at Skyhold, and Lavellan has to basically teach him how to fit into modern society.
One day she puts a ring of flowers on his head and he spends the entire day thinking it's a show of strength until she tells him that she did it just to make him look cute. Then he avoids her and gives her kicked puppy cold glares for two days.
Tielis, your headcanon story just made my week 500% better

It's the least I could do since you give us such amazing art! ![]()
I really really hate advertising "myself" but this is actually a gift for the fandom and as I seen many of you here into headcanons and fanfictions, so...

Just enjoy, as a gift the image can be used for cover/icon/avatar/whatever - it is my contribution to the fandom. :>

Haha thank you - though I personally see the mistakes in it, more likely I am really not a vector artist and now checking again the heart cards more should be seen of the upper body, but I tried my best ;D
Hard to imitate a foreigner style and I thought the fandom could appreciate to have visually a bit closer their fantasies and vision of a possible "what-if" continue.
Also I hate working with "perfect symmetry" - but still it was a fun-fun project. :>
*pops in the follow tag* Oh goodie, I thought there might be a thread here for this guy. I'll have to catch up on it when the boy is napping. :3
I have come to realize that Abelas has replaced all others in ma vhenan. Don't know how or when this occurred I just know that it has come to pass.
Irrelevant, but I realised that the Halla Keeper at the Dalish camp, that can be found at the exalted plains has the same voice as Abelas.Although his voice is less severe and sounds a bit more youthful.I hope we'll find out for sure who his VA is eventually, but until then...

And my search for the perfect icon has now ended! \o/

Me, too! At least when it comes to the characters in DA:Inquisiton. While I'll always be fascinated by Cole (my son) and Solas, Abelas just blows me AWAY. I don't even understand why. Part of it could be that I've never seen anyone like him before. It's like being fascinated by an alien, or something. ![]()

My Favorite part of this is the earrings. I love when artists include little things like that.
And my search for the perfect icon has now ended! \o/
All right, glad you enjoy it :>
(wish the under eye tattoos would seen better in the smaller version :< )

I think it's still pretty obvious who it is. ![]()
I don't know why, but I sort of got the impression that "Abelas" was a general name for the elves in Mythal's temple. Similar to the way qunari don't have names (minus IB), but roles. It would kind of make sense in the whole Arlathan/slavery deal if slaves weren't deemed 'important' enough to have individual names.
Would also make 'our' Abelas wanting a new name a little bittersweet.
*edit* It WAS 4am and I was like 5 drinks in when I came across Mythal's temple.

There is a codex entry in the Temple of Mythal that you can only read if you drank from the Well. It was written by Abelas, and he writes about taking the name "sorrow" for a few different reasons.
Ah, found a transcription here: http://omglolopworld...emple-of-mythal
Untranslatable Elven Writing
This veilfire script was hidden in the Arbor Wilds. It’s so old it cannot be translated into any known language.
There are whispers from the Well of Sorrows. It’s impossible to understand the entire text, but certain parts suddenly reveal a shadow of their original meaning.
"We are trapped. The ones born here do not understand the keenness of what we have lost, or why so many of their elders weep as they enter Uthenera. The new ones are faithful to Mythal, but do not understand what she was in her fullness. Without the wise to lead them, they will lose what they should have been.
I will teach them. They must serve. We must prepare for those who cast Mythal down. I shed my name the day I began her service. I shed my new one again, now that she rests. I will only be known by the sorrow that cuts my heart.”

Adding to that, after finishing the Arbor Wilds and talking to Cole he says, might not be entirely word for word, "He meant to watch forever. He called himself... Sorrow." in one of his random speeches.

Is this only if you bring Cole with you to the Temple of Mythal?
This is the scene in my heart. Oh, Abelas...

Thank you for sharing this!
I came across some "unreadable elven texts" in the Temple, but didn't realize that you can read it after drinking from the Well of Sorrows. My Lavellan wears Mythal's vallaslin and drank from the Well of Sorrows, and rather liked and pitied Abelas despite how he dismissed her as a "shadow wearing vallaslin," so... yeah, her heart would get wrung like a wet rag reading this. As is mine. ='(
