When we finally get a way to change our Inquisitor's appearance in the game, I will share my sliders of how I designed my Quizzy Abelas. I have the PS3 version, but I don't think anything is so different between the last gen consoles and the current gen in the CC. I can't make scars, but that seems to be about it.

I'm pretty sure he is because he will attack you if you don't solve the puzzles at the Temple and just barge into it, instead. He uses a blast of blue energy from his hands that can only really be interpreted as magic. I think the Quizzy and Morrigan will get shocked and fall backwards from it, too. It happened to me the first time I played Inquisition because I didn't want to solve those elaborate puzzles.

According to lore, everyone in ancient Arlathan wielded some degree of magic.  Now, is Abelas a mage the way Fen'Harel or even Flemeth are mages, not likely.  But, compared to circle mages in the Dragon Age -  I think it likely he would be on par, at least in some respects.  I would guess in Arlathan he might have been an arcane warrior as it seems a suitable spec for a temple guardian, but I could be wrong.

Just thought it worth mentioning that I *think* Tavin- the Dalish guy hanging out in the Emerald Graves- has the same voice actor as Abelas. Maybe.

I agree on Arcane Warrior for Abelas. I also think he could be a Spirit Warrior (from Awakening) since it's all about warriors with magical buffs.

So maybe he really isn't a mage after all. Maybe he is just an ancient elf who guards the temple of Mythal.

 

Maybe he has trained his thighs or statis has some special side effects to his thighs
