I... I never played ME1. I got a copy of 2 for free, so I played 2, and then I had to play 3. Somehow, I never went back to 1. I know, I'm a monster.

Oh, I did forget about Garrus and Kaidan in the stable boyfriend club (hugs Garrus even though I never could get his romance to trigger).  Garrus' scene on the roof shooting the cans is still the best friend scene in a game ever. 

 

Here's a challenge - Abelas needs a scene like that - friendship or romantic- but something that shows the depth of relationship he can develop.

I think I'm working up to it? But the story I have in my head just isn't there yet. I'm playing with all that fun stuff that comes the start of a relationship or the realization that you're developing feelings for someone. I have it all mapped out in my head, but it's following some strange timeline that I seem unwilling to put to paper.

Abelas and Cassandra banters!  I'll probably keep doing these until I 1) get bored of them 2) resume working on the actual stuff I should be writing or 3) hit a character whom I can't write well.

Cassandra: Inquisitor Lavellan sent troops to secure the Temple of Mythal.  The area is still dangerous, but someday, scholars will be able to travel there and preserve its lore.

Abelas: Chantry scholars.  It does not matter.  What remains is less than a shell of what once was.

Cassandra: Surely it is still worth protecting.

Abelas: The fate of the Temple is no longer mine to decide.

Cassandra: (disgusted noise) You could at least try to sound grateful.

Abelas: For what? Shemlen, I failed in my duty, and you are reminding me of that failure.

 

Abelas: Have you ever met your god?

Cassandra: No.  The Maker will only return to us when we are worthy, and all corners of the world sing his praises.

Abelas: What of your prophet, does she speak his will?

Cassandra: Andraste is at the Maker's side.  She still pleads with him on our behalf.

Abelas: How can you claim to do your god's will when he is silent?  How do you know?

Cassandra: The Maker is in everything.  I hear him in the Chant.  I see him in the sunset over Skyhold.  He doesn't need to dictate His will to me.

 

Cassandra: Let the blade pass through the flesh, let my blood touch the ground--

Abelas: Let my cries touch their hearts. Let mine be the last sacrifice.

Cassandra: I--how do you know the Chant of Light?

Abelas: I hear your priestesses singing it every morning.

Cassandra: Then you should know...there is room in the Chantry for everyone.  Even someone like you.

Abelas: (sighs) I am not ungrateful for the gesture.  But I heard Mythal's voice, gazed upon her face, felt the weight of her wisdom. I was an extension of her will.  I could never bear your Maker's silence.

Abelas: Thank you for lending this to me.

Cassandra: Don't tell Varric.  I'll never live it down.

Abelas: It was...enlightening.  The courtship customs of this age are very strange.

Cassandra: (laughs nervously)

Nah it is okay, it was already spread out - but I am actually sure majority of people can connect this style to me by now to know that it belongs to me in that case someone would try to steal/profit out of it.

I only put watermark on my works (especially fanarts) if they spread people can connect back to me and they cant resell it as their own. I am confident about that people recognize my speedpaints :>

It's like a mutual dragging down. Someone is threatening to rise above the dumpster, and someone else writes something so heartfelt that they just get dragged back in. You can never leave. I'm pretty excited to do the temple again for my second play through- I'm hoping I'll catch more details that I didn't get last time that will help me get a better grasp of his character. I feel like how I see him might be slightly skewed from how others see him, and while I know there's quite a bit open to personal interpretation, I don't want to cross that line where people think I'm not doing a character justice.

I'd also caution and say do not worry about how others see him otherwise it's easy to write what everyone else is writing and fall into that trap. I like reading new aspects of his character that I may not have considered because right now he isn't well defined and everyone is very creative with him.

 

IMO it's part of the appeal of minor characters like Abelas, Samson, etc.  The character's not as well-defined, so there's variation according to personal preference and even a certain degree of wish fulfillment.  And that is A-OK.

I think they also made a lot of the minor characters incredibly sympathetic.  Ser Barris, Abelas, Samson, Calperina...you feel totally bad for all of them.   Also - what I've noticed - there's a theme of "Lady(usually) Inquisitor and her sexual healing magic saves broken man".  Which is fine...and I love it...but it's sort of hilarious.

Are you talking about the DAI and its romances? Because I haven't noticed that kind of healing magic.
