@Sable-Well, hey. Nobody's gonna like the same character. I did enjoy blackwall (mainly because he REALLY reminded me of one of my favorite webcomic characters) and I do feel that revelations is one of the best companion quests in the game, but I digress.

 

Abelas is quite fit, isn't he?

 

As for Mythal that is a good point. Judgement from a deity would be a whole lot different then let's say...a council. That being said, I don't think a guy like erimond would be gloating with one of Mythal's judgements. And I still think, he'd be getting off easy then let's say big daddy vengeanc--I mean Elgar'nan. I do need to refresh my mind on the elven pantheon, but perhaps being judged by Mythal during the elven gods rule was a reprieve as opposed to Elgar'nan's wrath.

The Judgment of Mythal codex entry does mention how Mythal's judgment was preferable to having Elgar'nan burninate everything.  Though given what we know about Elgar'nan, just about anything might have been preferable to that 

 

Also, have some Sera banters.  That'll wrap up the companions, since I think Abelas would join the Inquisition after Corypheus's defeat.  So Solas would already have left.  I'm not entirely happy with Sera's stuff, but I wanted to do something a little different from her and Solas's "AUGH ELFY" stuff.  Let me know what you guys think; I'm always down for critical feedback

Abelas: Magic is not a blunt instrument, and it is not the solution for every task.

Sera: Drinking, you daft t*t!  Maker knows you need it.  Gotta pull the stick out of your dusty butt.

But alcohol related mistakes are hilarious! 

 

Mostly I love awkward, goofy dating shenanigans as a trope.  It never fails to make me laugh, and the idea that heroes and badasses have as much trouble with dating as us mundanes is pretty heartwarming

I don't think there will ever be a universe where there isn't at least some awkwardness when you're trying to get to know someone on a deeper level and change your relationship to a romantic one. But it works well for my particular Inquisitor as well- she's not exactly a person given to warm and fuzzy feelings, or those overly soppy first date moments. Plus, I don't think she quite knows how to process her own feelings, so she ignores quite a bit of them, until they come back up to bite her, and she /has/ to confront them.

Cullen: ...what exactly are you doing?

Abelas:  In my day, Tarasyl'an Telas was known for gardens of legendary beauty that flowed down the mountainside like water.  But I do what I can.

Cullen: I can't send soldiers all over Thedas just to pick up flowers for you!

Abelas: The silver flowers to your left produce a tea that clears the lungs and throat.  The seedlings you just stepped on are a variety of embrium that grows better in mountain air.  Beauty and utility should be as one in all that we do.

Cullen: Point taken.  I'll get you your damned plants.

 

Abelas: I am told that templars swear oaths of fealty to their Order.  You broke yours to serve another master.

Cullen: My fellow templars forswore their oaths when they turned on the Chantry.  

Abelas: Yet you did not remain with the Chantry.

Cullen: Actions mean more than words, and Cassandra was the only one doing anything about the crisis.

Abelas: Yes.  As I recall, Cassandra broke her vows too.

Cullen: I don't think you and I mean the same thing when we speak of vows.

Abelas: My service to Mythal could not be forsworn until my world became a memory, the Well I had guarded for millennia despoiled by your Inquisition.  No, I do not think we mean the same thing.

 

If the Inquisitor recruited the mages:

 

Abelas: Commander?  A word about the mages you have recruited.

Cullen: If something else is on fire--

Abelas: Nothing is on fire.  

Cullen: Good.  First time this week. (sighs)  I'm sorry.  What did you want to talk about?

Abelas: The mages are no army.  They have no discipline, no experience.  Like giving swords to untested children.

Cullen: You judge them too harshly.  Just like I did at first.  They have the potential to greatly contribute to the Inquisition's cause.  They just need time.

Abelas: Time is not something you shemlen possess in abundance.

Cullen: No, it isn't.  So we shouldn't waste it standing around.  Are you at least willing to try training them?

Abelas: ...I will try.  I make no guarantee of success.

Cullen: Well, with an attitude like that, I'm hardly surprised.

 

If the Inquisitor recruited the templars:

 

Cullen: Do you have a moment? Ser Barris says you've offered to help our templars train.

Abelas: Your Chantry's anti-magic techniques are effective but crude, like using a lake to douse a campfire.  I can teach your men to fine-tune their control.

Cullen: Oh?  That's very generous of you.  I was just...surprised by the offer, that's all.

Abelas: I am an apostate by what little remains of your law.  Does that trouble you, Commander?

Cullen: No, not at all.  I just didn't think you'd know defenses against magic.

Abelas: All of the People had the gift in my day.  Defending oneself against magic was the first thing any sentinel learned.  

Cullen: Then, did you have anything like our templars?  Warriors dedicated to preventing the misuse of magic?

Abelas: Not as such, but the elvhen did develop methods of neutralizing magic.  Some were temporary, used in the heat of battle.  Others would turn the stomach of even the most callous templar.  Let us leave it at that.

Haha, I swear I'm actually working on my next thing. I finally started it. I'm also replaying the game to do a completionist run through. I won't get to the Well of Sorrows for a long while, but I'm sure I'll have more insight when I finally do get there.

Thanks . I really wish I could get Solas' voice down, but it's really difficult, and I can't quite get the hang of it. He's such a particular character, and so well written. I would love to write more about him and my other Lavellan, but it just ends up feeling stilted and difficult. The best I could do is write something that's meant to be funny, so it wouldn't matter as much as to whether or not he'd do those things.

That was the idea!   Sera's such an immature brat, and I love her for it.

Solas's voice is a pain in the f***ing ass.  Not all of his lines follow the "Hallelujah" rhythm, but even the ones that don't have a certain archaic quality that's hard to pin down.

 

I write his dialogue a little bit like Galadriel or Elrond's from Lord of the Rings.  Their movie dialogue has that lyrical quality to it without sounding as stiff as their book dialogue.

Abelas: Pilgrims came from all corners from Elvhenan to pay homage to Mythal.  The ones from what you call Antiva had the unpleasant habit of spitting when they spoke too quickly.
