Ah well I guess there are enough baby sitters back home at Skyhold.

Imagine Dorian with the little rascal toddling around.

Oh Creators save us from that combo of rascality

In my headcanon, Dorian is a bit of a disaster when it comes to many practical things.  He probably had servants or slaves back in Tevinter, so he doesn't seem like the kind of person who would know how to do things like cook, clean...or change diapers.  And even in Inquisition, he's not exactly roughing it.  I think he'd be a great cool uncle, but personally I nominate Josie to babysit any potential bundles of joy.  She's responsible, and she actually had little siblings.

"Uncle Dodo! I found a dead bird! Make it fly again!"

But I think Abelas could be a good father, who knows?

He's very firm and when I think about it, he'd be patient enough to raise a child. .. okay not the one I pictured there XD

Maybe I should write a little fic about her ( she still doesn't have a name yet ... )

I think Abelas would be a great father. Below that harsh exterior is a big softy. Besides, people are usually different with their children than say how they act when at work. As far as patience goes... well he has watched over a well for thousands of years. I'd say he is patient :) You should write it :DDD

I don't see why he couldn't be a good father. We just met him briefly and he was grumpy but you were  a stranger to him and he was trying to protect to temple from red templars and he probably knew that he was going to loose that battle so he probably wasn't in a good mood. Maybe he is caring and loving at least those who are close to him.

I did not intend for this to be three parts, but there you go. Here's part two. There's one more coming up at some point.

I know them feels. I once wrote a chapter that was supposed to largely be smut and only be 1 chapter. It ended up finishing at like 60 something chapters. Damn elves. Take your life away! They are all high maintenance. Never doubt it but oooo so worth it especially when you get their clothes off.

I am fighting my natural reticence so hard to write this next part. SO HARD.

... I am actually really shy so ... I don't know. I want to write it, but it's like I'm about the color of a tomato as I do so.

Has to be smut then :) When I wrote my first smutty fanfiction I was so embarrassed. It's an odd thing in a way dealing with character's sexual relations. But you should always write what you feel comfortable writing and it does get easier. Sounds weird, I know! Just don't pressure yourself into doing something you do not want to do. It's not worth it.

So. I'll just leave this here. It's super NSFW and probably just like... absolutely /awful/. My first time writing anything of this nature, but it's something I had to get over sooner or later, right?

It was very well written! I especially liked the description of him as he undressed. Never doubted for a moment that he had the perfect ass :)

It gets easier as you continue to write smut.  Though I still can't do it when my boyfriend's sitting next to me.  We share a computer desk, and he could be off in his own little world for hours, but I just can't write with him sitting RIGHT THERE  <_<

Haha, I don't think I'll be doing it again in the context of Dragon Age. Maybe in future novel writing endeavors.

If you're wondering what to do with babies in the world then turn to the world of soaps....kids disappear all the time, never to bee seen for months sometimes years at a time... they're at uncle so n so's, or at a mate's or gran's or....travelling with Uncy Dodo...ooh now I've pics in my head of Dorian being followed by a little elf tike, incessantly yapping at him and asking questions... Brilliant!

An upside to being Inquisitor is having an entire fortress of potential babysitters.  And arsekickers if anyone decides to cause trouble while mommy and daddy are away  :D

I feel like Varric would make a surprisingly good babysitter.  He's a bit mother hen-ish, and he did wrangle Hawke and co. for the better part of seven years.

Varric would give the child a terrible nickname though.

I have a strange question... so there is a person who is reading my story and messaged me. They requested that I write in a sex scene between Bull and Dorian since I have them paired in my story. The problem for me is that 1. I am a woman. 2. I have never written a homosexual relationship. I would really love to try and write it but would that be doing the right thing? I mean, I don't know if I can do it justice. I'm not stupid. I have read slash but I had no intention of writing it because I have always felt that maybe it is doing a disservice to homosexual men since I am a heterosexual woman. Love is love. I get that. But the act is different if you go into detail. What I also found curious was that he asked me if my story was an AbelasxLavellan love story. I'm like it says that at the top of it. It says: AbelasxLavellan and LavellanxSolas. Am I missing something? I do enjoy writing Dorian. He is a wonderful character to write but I worry I might write the wrong thing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you're not 100% comfortable writing it or are worried that you wouldn't quite do it justice, you shouldn't feel obligated to write it. Alternatively, you wouldn't have to go into detail to write a sex scene. But just because someone asks, you don't have to answer. It sounds like the person is just out to see what they want to see, and that they aren't actually reading the story.

Possibly, though they discussed plot details with me. I don't know... it's starting to feel like a tricky situation. Anyway, thanks for the advice. I appreciate it.

You could always write it and then decide what to do with it. If it doesn't fit for your story then the whole situations is solved.

And any reasonable reader will understand if you simply say, "Sorry, but I don't think I'll do it justice."

Well you could always write it and not publish it if you don't feel comfortable publishing it. I mean if you want to try out writing it.  I wrote a sex scene to my Abelas story but I didn't  publish it because I didn't want to do it. I just didn't want to share that.

Eh, I'm sort of against writing anything you don't really 100% want to write, because it just makes the writing so painful and slow, and you end up second guessing every word far more than you would otherwise. I actually really did not enjoy the process of writing that smut, and I'm not going to repeat it. I only did it in the first place because I felt like it was a challenge I would eventually have to face in my career as a writer. But the process of getting it there was like super not fun.

By the way varricschesthair could you post the link to your Abelas fanfiction here? I would want to read it.

That's exactly how I feel about this but the guy is insistent to the point of it being odd. That was also why I said to you not do it if it really bothered you that much but you did a wonderful job and it was tasteful.

I appreciate the advice everyone. I think I am going to have to just say no to this person and hope they don't start a hate campaign. I say that because I've had 5 private messages from them in the last half hour o.O Surely there is Dorian and IB smut out there???
