I wonder how well Abelas would fare with a City Elf companion? I can just imagine the disgust he has at first... followed by a growing tolerance for the no doubt relentless series of questions this poor little elf would throw at him. It's the idea of having this commonality but being from such different worlds that appeals to me. Not even on a romantic level- he just gets saddled with this incredibly persistent person who wants to learn and sees Abelas as his or her opportunity to do so, and Ableas can perhaps question them in turn.

I think it would be interesting. With a Dalish you'd have sort of the fan-girling over lore.  With a city elf - depending on how much they assimilated into human culture - not so much.  I really could see the city elf being like 'dude i could give a ****. what has mythal done for me lately.'  I think it would be more of learning experience for Abelas than the elf.  This elf that has completely disconnected from their culture.  Abelas, though still apart from the Dalish, would be able to find some small sliver of connection to them. They are still shadows of his culture.  With a city elf, it would be different.   Would be kind of funny methinks.

I could see a City Elf being interested in learning about it, but in a way that's really disconnected. Like "Oh hey, that Mythal figure sounds cool. I wonder how they made her up?" And Abelas would just choke. 

 

If I write the thing, I"ll have to stick at least one city elf in there, because they may as well be humans, as far as Abelas is concerned. Though I'm sure that if he actually saw the conditions they're forced to live in, his heart might not be quite as hard. Maybe.

I'm sure I will start writing something. Just probably not today haha. I'll need to make notes and really think things over and have a full arc planned out with details of a chapter to chapter breakdown, just so I feel like I'm getting what I want out of it.

I could write doofy banter, but that's about it  I'm currently trying to edit/clean up/somehow fix 100+ pages of blatant Solavellan wish fulfillment.  Oh, and work up the nerve to post it somewhere, that too. And the DLC feels are taking up the rest of my available fanfiction brain real estate.

Haha, people on Tumblr /tend/ to be nice as a whole, but there are some strange fringe elements out there. People on AO3 are universally wonderful and deserve all the praise they can get. 

 

They won't literally break my legs. I'm not actually behind on owing anything right now, but I just need to prioritize a bit. I might go take notes on Abelas ideas though, just to get out of the house and into the fresh air.

Because I love Coleridge, and the albatross is known for its migratory patterns. There's a species literally called the wandering albatross. But then, Coleridge's albatross wasn't exactly the best omen. Then again, they did shoot it with a crossbow.

I like Solas because he's a Fade nerd with an interesting, somewhat contradictory and complex morality. He's also very grounded and confident despite being a reclusive nerd. None of that geeky shyness thing.

Abelas, we know hardly a thing about. I don't see how anyone "ships" him with anyone. IMO it's the fact that he's a cipher that lets people project romantic fantasies on him. But eh, if you think there's not a bit of "I'm so special" about the idea of getting a thousands-year-old mythical elf to be your waifu, then I think you're kidding yourself. It's the same dynamic as the wolf god thing.
