If you tint the DLC armor golden, it kind of looks like an Inquisition version of the sentinel armor.

So I noticed something today. The black smoke coming out of Abelas when he is going to destroy the well also comes out of Solas when he sucks up Mythal's power.

 

 

 

Any thoughts on this strange voodoo?

That's interesting.  I wonder if it's some manifestation of Mythal's power, something acting through Abelas and on Solas rather than some graphic representation of "god-stuff" in general.  I'm very curious to know how tightly Abelas is tied to Mythal, whether as what seems like her "head priest/protector" or is he's got some portion of her power within him as a sentinel.  Because she (as Flemeth) seems at least partially prophetic I wonder if she was able to divest herself of some of her strength before she was killed--and, if so, how much and what kind Abelas and the Well may have gotten.

So I have to ask, because I'm annoying, if it's just to enhance magic why does it only happen where it concerns Mythal? From what I understand the woman who pops out of the well after they go through the mirror is Mythal in her original form. The well was preserving that essence of her? We know Solas gets her power and smokey eyeballs. I suppose it could all be coincidence. I also understand why Abelas was protecting that well so fiercely. Naked goddess in well = happy sentinel. That's one hell of a hot tub party.

I'm with Kestrel on this. I think it was just like 'crazy powerful magic causes weird smoke eyes'.  developers have to be economical in their uses of assests - that's why they reuse stuff. that's not to say that none of it has meaning but just that more often than not it's just design, money, time/resources.  i mean look what they did in that scene  - they reused a human model and everyone was flipping the eff out originally. come to find out they made a boo-boo and the art team forgot to put an elf in there.

Damn... I was hoping someone was going to suggest an Abelas/Solas/Mythal threesome in her newly renovated well of hotness. If only Abelas had known he had been protecting a Shem all those long years... oh the irony!

I'll have to find a video of the Inky's trip to Mythal's altar. I'm curious whether Mythal's influence on her/Morrigan is shown the same way in that scene or whether there's similar smoke in that scene at all. That wouldn't answer the question as the same objections would hold about reused resources but I'm curious whether it's there. IT could also be an "ancient elfy magic" indicator, meaning when we return to His Glorious Thighness we'll see it againt

Thanks for finding the video, alien! I'm at work and it would have been hours of wondering. Now the only question is whether other ancient elf mages (say, Solas, for example) have the same smoking habit, whether other mages do it, or it's only ever Mythal-related.
