@Babelas: there are a ton of really good writers out there (far better than I am) but if I was asked to pick my favorite of the works I've posted it would be "Seeker's End" even though it is not canon (I wrote it before we knew Seekers didn't use lyrium).  "Seekers End" is fairly short (less than 1,800 words) but pretty dark.  If you want fluff my "Stray Bits" collection of Zevran weekly prompts is a mix of fluff and darker stuff (Adventurers Again might cause cavities - you have been warned), of the "Stray bits" collection Birthday is one of my favorites. Links are in my sig if you are interested. 

 

But, back to the amazing thighs, UM, I mean Abelas.  For all his grumpiness at the temple I'm finding it surprisingly easy to write young Abelas with a sense of humor.

Why is it when I read PW's twitter replies I am secretly happy that whatever horrid thing he is planning for Solas isn't going to happen to Abelas? I suppose there is something to be said for liking the Haldir of the DA universe. I just pity the Solas romancers. He could be joking, yes?

He was.  They have been so insanely tightlipped about everything to do with DLC that I don't think he's going to even hint at anything other than we know that they are doing a Warden one. (Maker help me if I have to kill off Alistair...I am not prepared for that one)

 

As far as Abelas' death scene goes...I actually mapped one out(since it's what I do to all my favorite characters...give them a good death). It's really sad.  But good.  Works for him.   I am prepared for Solas' death. It's highly likely. I just hope it's a good death. One deserving of him.   Bittersweet.

Regarding the Warden DLC - Yeah, the devs did a Kotaku AMA and someone was like - will we ever see the wardens again or have something more focused in DLC. And one was like 'Funny that you should say that..". Not like a fer sure but a heavy hint we are getting one.

 

Regarding Abelas: Yeah. If he lives and ends up with the Inquisition. I like death scenes. They are fun to think about and ridiuclously dramatic and angsty....for obvious reasons. 

 

I could see Solas dying at the hands of the Inquisitor or frankly just self-sacrificing.  We'll see. I'm not married to either his death or him living. I just want it to be good and meaningful. I don't want it to be cheap.

I did get a chance to read Albatross on tumblr but because of my leaky roof and weedy garden I haven't had a chance to read the others yet. Enjoyed it. That bit about Abelas feeling responsible for the outcome in the Emerald Graves got to me. Evil woman!

Serious question here... I remember a while back the Wiki had Abelas's age. Did I imagine this??? I know I'm insane but it's like all info for him disappeared. I need this for writing. I also noticed they changed the person they had up as his voice actor or rather corrected it.

Must have been just wiki cleanup.  I don't remember the DA wiki ever showing an exact age for him  Then again, it shouldn't have one unless we got more information in the preview pages for WoT 2.

We don't have his age.  The wiki is notoriously flawed.  I don't trust the info. unless it's actually in game somewhere - Abelas' age is never told(he's immortal he may not even know anymore because why keep track if it doesn't really matter) - or it's externally sourced news. In the case of the V.A., David Gaider confirmed this. Also, if you listen to youtube clips of Matt Gravelle, it's definitely him.  I put a video clip a few pages back.

The wiki is not run by BW. Or owned. It's maintained by random people.

Well yeah. He'd have to be by virtue of logic. Arlathan fell a thousand years before you meet him.  And we have the runes that he was alive at the fall and Mythal's murder and seemed to be an "adult".  So I think "Old as balls" works too.

No. Abelas is tall. he's taller than solas. who is tall...for an elf.  he'd likely have to bend a little.
