I'm hoping that the sentinels are helping Solas because they have chosen to do so and not because Solas have made them to do it. Even though Solas wants to help people who suffer or who need help, he also thinks that sometimes there needs to be sacrifices if it helps you to achieve your goal. One of my Lavellan let Celene die and let Briala to be in control of Gaspard. In the balcony I could choose a line where my Lavellan was doubting her decisions and Solas comforted her and I think he said something like sometimes you need to make sacrifices or something similar.

I think Abelas could also lean against the wall smirking and not say anything. He could be so confident of himself that he knows that you are eventually going to approach him.

There are so many possibilities! Maybe he is really straightforward or maybe he flirts  or maybe he has amazing pick-up lines. I actually would like to see his pick up lines.

Lavellan laying down the ground rules early in a relationship with Abelas.

Lavellan: I'm not starting anything unless right now we agree to some real commitment! I'm done with "I love you but I gotta go now!"

Abeleas: No problem.

Lavellan; What?

Abelas: I think it should be clear that I am not afraid of commitment.

Lavellan: Yeah, well the world likes to kind of fall apart with me around and people either worship me or want to kill me, you ready to deal with that?

Abelas: I endure.

Lavellan:.......

Abelas: *wink*

Lavellan: *over Solas*

Lavellan on a date with Abelas. He has taken her to some beautiful ancient elven ruins to teach her about the ancient ways and walk in the moonlight.

Abelas:....and this was a library, full of books and texts explaining some of the great mysteries of the world.

Lavellan: Did you read any of them?

Abellas: All of them.

Lavellan: To bad they're not around anymore. I would have loved to read them.

Abelas: I read them, ask whatever you want to know.

Lavellan: Ask anything?

Abelas: Anything.

Lavellan: And you will answer? A complete answer?

Abeleas: Of course, why wouldn't I tell you everything? That would be counter productive in trying to preserve our ancient knowledge and ways.

Lavellan: *looks down at feet*

Abelas: Great Mythal, the Dread Wolf was a terrible mate wasn't he?

Mmm...how about this, dump some prompts and I'll see what I can do, cause this is surprisingly fun. And also helping me cope with the inevitable gut punch feels of Solavellan Hell.

I'm thinking this mostly because it's funny:

*snip golden gloriousness*

After Andraste's flaming knickers now we got Mythal's shiny pants  :D

You know I still haven't forgiven Sera for her comments after Solas removed the vallaslin from my Inky. I was reminded of that last night when I was trying to tidy up my game. I really don't like Sera at all.

I hear you, I don't like Sera at all and it was good that I knew about the vallaslin comment, otherwise I'd have punched my TV  (Sorry if there are Sera fans on the thread or lurking it)

MayriyaNoori Bioware needs to hire you to write the Abelas romance RITE NAO. I have a couple prompts suggestion (only if you really feel like it!): Abelas joins Lavellan's team. Or for strictly romance content: first kiss.

RE: the dragon I honestly can't see a thing  I think that it is walking on qunari pavement but I'm not sure at all, I'm amazed at people who are able to see so many things in trailers. But I thought I saw several dragons? That would be very cool, several dragons helping you on the way; they are beautiful creatures, the playthrough were I killed all of them broke my heart  :crying:

Sera's comment made me so angry that I told her to leave afterward LOL. I had to load my game back up and bring her back. I am sorry too if there is a lurking fan. I just don't get the character. At first, I wanted to be like a big sister or best friend. But to constantly have someone remark on your culture in a negative way really makes it hard to be friends. Maybe if i had romanced her, I would feel differently. People tend to be more forgiving with their lovers.

Agreed! I love the Abelas you are portraying in this snippets. It's exactly how I would want him to be in a romance. The flirting was excellent.

Ooo Vorathrad first kiss prompt! Mmmmm... sorry got distracted.

I'm going to go right for the first time they have sex because I'm a pervert.  Don't write that if you don't want to... I can't help it.

Let's see...

First kiss

First time they have sex

Abelas gives a gift

Cooking together

Inky gets sick. How he handles that.

Picnic

Abelas gets drunk with some of the Inquisition

Why he worshiped Mythal

Abelas is part of the Inquisition when Inky goes to Winter palace

:DDDD Are you regretting this yet?

Vorathrad I hated killing the dragons :( But the best rare materials in the beginning were from the dragons so it was hard to resist. But ever since I saw Flemeth turn into a dragon I have hated killing them, plus like you said, they are so much more realistic in DAI than ever before. So sad  :( I wish there had been alternative before Descent came along. I hate killing animals of any kind.

Mmmm...well, I seem to have opened a can of worms. But good worms. Like Gummi Worms. That's enough prompts to start some kind of tumblr blog.

Well, let's get started. Just a disclaimer I guess....this would all be largely based off of what is going on with my Lavellan and choices I guess.

Here we go.

It's late and I"m tired...but it's  a start. I'll try to stop by and add some more later!

Also, I hate killing the dragons in the game also. =( I love dragons so much. Have a dragon tatoo in real life even and my favorite all time book series is the Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey. SO yeah.....I hated killing the dragons. But that drop good crafting materials......

Hm.  I am not so sure Abelas would be willing to tell you All The Things, at least not at first.  Reading his codex entries, he's disappointed that the younger Sentinels don't know what they've lost.  He's also not that eager to go teach modern elves anything.

If you pick certain dialogue options, Solas remarks that it might not be a great idea to teach city elves what they once were, because they would probably either be hurt by knowing what they could never have again, or they would get themselves killed trying to reclaim it.  I suspect Abelas might feel similarly.  Modern elves, including potentially the Inquisitor, don't know what they have lost--and without it tying in to any specific duty, maybe it's better to let them be ignorant.  Besides, they are not his people; he might not feel that they have any right to know lost lore.  They are just shemlen--their lives are quick as a breath and any knowledge passed on to them will be lost in short order.

Yes, I agree with you if we are talking about the current Abelas that we know (and love).

I think we're all just fantasizing about what he might be like two years later, after wandering the world, or following Solas or whatever the heck he's been up to.  We're thinking he's totally mellowed out, since he's had no choice but to accept that he is most likely also a shemlen now.

After two years, he's probably weary of looking for other Elvhen, and/or very lonely.  He might be ready to give up and enter uthenera, or he might have decided that he should take it upon himself to cure the ignorance of any elf who will listen to him.  ("No.  You are not Elvhen.  You are not one of my People.  You are shemlen, a mere shadow of the greatness of the People.  You wish to learn about the past?  You wish to understand?  I will teach you.  May you not regret it.")

He is disappointed that younger sentinels cannot see Mythal, therefore they can never fully understand what she was like in her fullness. It's a fair observation. Again, we do not know why Abelas says: 'You are not my people.' We don't have all the facts yet. He doesn't seem like the type to be mean just for the hell of it. I suspect there is some piece of crucial information we do not know. Again, if I met my ancestors tomorrow I seriously doubt they would consider me one of their own. Time and space removes that bond. This is a unique situation because normally we cannot meet our ancestors. Honestly, I get tired of this being brought up. There were many other things Abelas said and did to show he is not a horrible person and that he isn't heartless. Plus, who isn't scared of the thing that could kill you? My Inky would feel horrible if she found out that encounter cost Abelas his life because he caught her cold. If we are going on the assumption illness can kill him. Again, he said this while trying to decide whether to kill the intruder in the temple. Not the friendliest of situations. I do honestly believe if Abelas were given time and a chance to come to terms with the present he would come around. He has been shut away in a temple since the fall of his people. Solas, on the other hand, has had time to adjust. Besides, imagining romantic Abelas is much more fun :D After Tuesday, none of this is going to matter. So I'm just going to enjoy the light-hearted Abelas while I can. Nothing you say is going to make me stop loving the thighs. <3

What? Are you somehow assuming I am here to hate on the character?

I am simply being logical and pointing out that for him to share info, he would need time, time around other modern people. Possibly more than just the Inquisitor. In fact, probably--change does not happen in a positive way from isolation or codependency.

I definitely disagree with the idea he would immediately be willing to share more than Solas would, when Abelas seems to clutch his culture tightly to his heart. Again, "at least not at first," which is a statement you seem to have ignored in my post. If I saw a fic or game that showed his progress, I could see him sharing many things, but likely with the caveat that knowing would not bring happiness (his name is Sorrow, after all). Your mileage may vary, as it is allowed to. My opinion does not erase or invalidate yours, nor does yours make mine objectively wrong.

I am fine with mushy romantic fantasies, but I prefer more conflict in getting there. I don't see Abelas as a magical replacement Solas who is better than Solas and will explain and share everything Solas didn't--he might share some, but I suspect there would be a lot he wouldn't share, out of pride or grief. What Solas obscures is more because he doesn't think sharing is necessarily a good idea. So, I would want to see Abelas and a future protagonist grow warmer with time, and as he becomes closer, he shares more knowledge--but still doesn't become an encyclopedia of elven lore or share everything he knows. Some things are too painful, and others he simply wouldn't know.

Long story short, I ultimately know little about him, and suspect he has his own personality issues (I.e. Not too keen on shemlen)--I doubt even someone that old could work past all of them.

I don't know. I hope not.

He hasn't had time to adjust to the modern world because he has been shut away from it. But what came across is that he hates everyone because they are mortal. I don't think that's what you intended after reading your latest post. I apologize. The thing is... his life, his past and present are all wrapped into one for Abelas. He would share knowledge not because he is being pestered to share it but because it is who he is. I don't see him being able to separate it out. Unlike Solas, he has the luxury to say who he is without fear of being hated. Solas is Fen'Harel. You know what the Dalish think of him, so he would always have to hide who he is in order to find some sort of acceptance because history got it wrong. Abelas doesn't have to worry about that. His name isn't going to bring about panic and fear. It's why i have always believed he would have a better chance of educating the Dalish than Solas. Whether Abelas would ever want to educate... I have no idea. It's all hypothetical.

I'll admit that I became defensive when the 'you are not my people' comment was made. It's been thrown around as a reason to hate on the character and as some sort of weird way to say that means he is crap compared to Solas. Abelas and Solas are two different people. One was a slave and one a god. I am certain they have very different views when it comes to life. So I get defensive when I see it because it's only one aspect to his character.

I only lump Abelas with the Inquisitor because otherwise I have to make up some Elvhen scenario and I can't do that on the forum. LOL. That's for fanfiction. I'm just using common ground in this scenario. We all know the Inky. It's all 'what if' in my mind. No hard rules here. Just trying to have fun especially because I know people have a lot more invested in Solas than I do and I am worried this dlc is going to be upsetting for them. But! Ask me if I think the Solas romance left a lot to be desired... yes. I think that is what people are expressing. This isn't an Abelas/Solas peeing contest. If it was... Abelas would win the thigh contest and Solas the backside contest. But there is nothing wrong in imagining Abelas the way you want to imagine him. People have different ideas of what a romance would be like with him and some of those ideas are how they feel it would differ from Solas. And that's okay.

So, I would want to see Abelas and a future protagonist grow warmer with time, and as he becomes closer, he shares more knowledge--but still doesn't become an encyclopedia of elven lore or share everything he knows. Some things are too painful, and others he simply wouldn't know.

I agree with what you are saying. If we are talking about Abelas as a romance option in DA4 I would want it to be a very slow paced romance. I'd want that trust to be hard earned and I'd want to work for every bit of info. Because, in the end, if Abelas were to fall in love with a mortal, it would be beautiful yet tragic. Someone who has been locked away in a temple for a 1,000 years plus is bound to have issues. That fascinates me.

I don't see Abelas as a replacement for Solas nor would I ever want him to be. But what I do see is an elf that is in a position to be more open and honest because he has that luxury. That's part of the pain of Solas. No matter what he does or says, he will always be Fen'Harel. He will always have to hide things because his knowledge has the potential to be extremely dangerous in the wrong hands.

Mmmm.......I'm going to hop in on this discussion and put up some points on why I think Abelas would actually be pretty interested in a Lavellan Inquisitor(by interest I mean getting to know or following around).

This is spoilered for length....cause yeah....I sit around and think about Dragon Age way too much.

Spoiler

But, let's face it, at the end of the day the snippets are for fun and fantasy. Our world of Thedas could be shattered next week.

I would like to ask though, do you guys think that the purple glowing sentinel looking guys in the trailer are maybe dead sentinels? And if you allied with the sentinels at the Temple we get to see them and not purple glowy guys?

Also, another really funny thought I had. How hilarious would it be if Abelas did join up with the Inquisition and Quizzy convinced everyone that he should join the Chargers? I don't know why, but Iron Bull and Abelas conversations would be great I think.

And for fun, here's a snippet of Abelas meeting the only city elf I think he should meet.

Your post made me emotional. This part: Also, if after a second meeting Abelas found something worthy of following I think he would. Quizzy, like I said, has become like a modern day elven god walking the face of Thedas. I also think that if Abelas found anything that gave him even the slightest bit of feeling of real happiness he might make a hard turn and just run with it. 2000 years of being sad with some serious, forever looking worse job is a looooooong time. If Quizzy even caused him to crack one honest smile or laugh I bet he'd like her even just a little. And doesn't even have to be romantic.

So, yeah.....I think given certain things Abelas would be a lot more willing to chill with Quizzy post game.

Seeing him smile for the first time or laugh would be so touching. Take my fangirl tears. Take all of them.

I am so very happy you do think about it too much. I loved all your points. They were so very well thought out compared to the trash I spouted. Hmmm... it makes sense that if Flemythal was impressed by Inky, then that could easily be felt by Abelas. I had never considered the geas in that respect. You know it compels them but I wonder exactly how it effects them, like if they feel what wisp Mythal feels etc. That's so fascinating.

Do you think Fen'Harel is inhabiting a different body then? Because surely Abelas would recognize him otherwise. Just curious.

But, let's face it, at the end of the day the snippets are for fun and fantasy. Our world of Thedas could be shattered next week.

Don't I know it. That's what I fear and I just have this really bad feeling about it all. That's why we should have fun now because come Tuesday things will change.

OMG! I love your Sera! (I don't actually like Sera in game but this was too funny) I forgot she is an alienage elf. Your writing is amazing!

@Babelas- Glad you like my points! When I was typing them I thought "This either makes sense or I'm going to come off like a totally looney toon." I'm glad that even if it is looney toon, there's at least one other looney toon out there that agrees. :D

As far as Fen'Harel goes.....I really wonder how the ancients did see him. All ancient depictions of Fen'Harel are as a wolf and not an elf like the rest of the pantheon, which has made me wonder if anyone at all ever really saw Fen'Harel that much even in ancient times. That, or there was some serious PR efforts trying to keep his real face hidden, in which case as awesome as Abelas is, he is still just a servant of Mythal and may have not been among the ranks to ever meet or see Fen'Harel. That, or it is still a possibility that Fen'Harel has done some kind of new body thing in his own way.

The main thing is that if he did recognize Fen'Harel, I really doubt he would have acted the way he did when they all first meet. Mythal and Fen'harel seem to be buddies, so if he recognized him I think he would have been far more relaxed about the Inquisitor's group from the get go. I believe he also would have spoken directly to Solas in those weird kind of cryptic sentences sooner.

Another clue that strikes me that Abelas really doesn't know the people standing in front of him is how he treats Morrigan. Flemythal is looking for her at that point in the story, so if it dawned on Abelas who Morrigan was he probably would have tried to keep her there somehow or may have even outright offered the Well solely to Morrigan.

I'm also glad you both liked Sera in that. I didn't know if it was going to come off like her or not.

And yes! We need to have as much headcanon fun as possible over the next few days! We have no idea what's about to go down. I'm excited though, there is the possibility of so much elven lore being dropped and I'm sure it is going to be awesome!

Partners in loony :D It made perfect sense. I'm one of these people who knows what they want to say but it always sounds wrong. Your writing is eloquent and your points were ones that I felt, but couldn't find the right words to express. Plus, I'll be honest here... I've been on the defensive on this thread for a long time. It's really nice to have new people, new perspective, new everything. I love SilentShadows to death but we've been holding down the fort for too long by ourselves. LOL (Does that even make sense?)

Hmmm that's a really excellent observation. I wonder if perhaps a spirit inhabited a wolf and it evolved over time? And you worried about sounding loony ;) I do know that when you do the quest in the Hinterlands with the possessed wolves you get positive points from Solas after you complete it. No doubt he has an affinity for wolves but maybe it goes deeper? I'm giggling at the PR efforts comment. Makes me think of the Elvhen gods as rock stars more than gods. Probably not too far from the truth. I can only imagine how their devotees acted when they made an appearance from the Fade.

I always wondered about that. If he had known it was Fen'Harel why would Abelas not drop to his knees? I assume any god, not just Mythal, would elicit that reaction in an ancient elf. Maybe not but now I wonder! The weird thing about Solas is that I get this 'I was almost a god' vibe from his place in the pantheon at times or that he was raised to the rank by Mythal. I wonder if Abelas sensed that Solas was Elvhen once they were closer together. I wonder if the Elvhen see more than just the physical world. Some people have said that Solas's words to Abelas actually mean something different that what he claims he said. What do you think?

I still have my weirdo theory going about Morrigan and Abelas being father and daughter. The eye color bothers me but it's probably nothing. I agree. If Abelas had known who Morrigan was he would have kept her there. Maybe he is the one who told Flemeth that Morrigan was with the Inquisitor without even knowing he was doing it. I do have this strange feeling that Flemeth felt it was a win/win situation regardless of who got the well in that scenario. I think she knew. I also think she could have prevented Cory from getting it if everyone else failed.

Ah I do love the lore. I think it has been hinted we are going to get tons of it and I really am looking forward to that!

First be careful where you look. People have managed to extract info about Trespasser from the new patch. Just be careful or you might get spoiled!!!

Duuuude. tumblr has broken out into a sudden Abelas heatwave. So many people begging for him in Trespasser. Must post this gorgeous art. These artists are simply amazing! I need to go find something... cold...
