I'm hoping Abelas becomes a companion for the new protagonist of DA4. And of course an LI. I also hope there's a huge time jump. Like 100 years or something after what ever Solas does or happens in expansion/dlc.

That would be grand, but it would be nice to see someone like Hawke trying to navigate the new world.

I have to say, the scenery isn't so bad with the Arcane Warrior.     The RNG gods hate me, though, so his nice armor hasn't dropped for me yet.

That fanfic I'm writing, I think, is going to have Abelas in it.  I do not think he's going to get romantically involved with my Inquisitor, though.

 

I think it'd be cool if he could be a companion in the next game, somehow (even if we'd "killed" him)--or one of the other Sentinel elves.  If he were then a romance option... Well, I am not sure he'd work as such in the first game he was a companion in, because he'd first have to get over his hatred of shemlen (which to him includes the modern elves).

 

So:  He'd show up for two games.  First game he appears in, he's this hard-nosed jerk who hates you all but everything's been screwed up so he's going to help you fix it.  Second game, he's pretty much softened to the shemlen, realized that this world may be different but there is plenty within it worth saving.  And at this point he becomes open to romance (bisexual maybe?).

 

I doubt it would happen... but it would give people lots and lots of Abelas.

Though I think he does soften up a bit at the end of the Temple scene, especially if Solas is present.  I think he is more confused than hard-nosed.  Still his integration within "modern society" will be more than a bit difficult and painful for him.

Yeah, this one is pretty much the only one I've been following.  I'm finding the way they wrote him a bit robotic, but maybe they'll expand his emotions as they go.  It's entertaining.    I wish more people would write about our favorite sentinel.  The last fanfic I wrote was for Warhammer Online about 5 years ago, so I'm very rusty, but if I get inspired I may try again.

I think his name tells us everything about that:  He's filled with sorrow and regret, and all he's been able to do for perhaps two thousand years is guard the Well for Mythal, waiting for her to return.  Oh yeah.  And sleep.  And dream.  And watch the world become farther and farther away from what it once was.

 

I believe he's stoic, and probably all of the Sentinel Elves have this quality about them.  My guess?  It's less that stoicism or cynicism is his personality, and more that it was part of his training in the process of being the guardian to a temple where judgments took place.  Need to at least appear neutral, after all, right?

EDIT:  Or should I say, everything that he was trained for is all gone now, not that I imagine his stoicism is suddenly all gone.  But he may come to find that he doesn't need it anymore, or that he doesn't want it anymore.

Yup, but here he is with hundreds of years of conditioning to be stoic, and perhaps even cynical, to hide who he is and what he's feeling, to serve Mythal, whatever she might ask of him.  He detests the modern world, feels no kinship with the shemlen elves (though perhaps he could; he does respect the Inquisitor, at least).  And from his dialogue I'd say he has a vested interest in Not Becoming Mortal Like You Guys.

From what the developers said about not being able to even add in DLC companions easily, my guess is "probably, because modders are crafty and determined sorts, but it'd take more work than it's worth because it would require meddling with the very framework of the game."
