[Abelas Forever!]

Where is it said that Mythal summoned Solas? I think I might have missed something. Is it something that Cole said? I only remember something about cows and gold. It might have been something like this "The cow takes all the gold." I have no idea what does that mean.

Anyway. I think Solas might have been pride spirit or demon. Because he says that Solas was first. This makes me think about the spirit in Crestwood who was stubborn and didn't want to go back to fade unless Inky completed its mission. Anyway it might been that for some reason Solas is stuck with his plan like that spirit was stuck. More about this later.

I doubt that we will find out that Mythal is completely evil because her motives have always been complex and there has always been more to them than we have seen. I suspect like Babelas suspected that there might be a third party who has involved in this whole thing. I have no idea who that might be. Anyway we know that Mythal was killed and sentinels locked them up in the temple. We also know that they are preparing for the one who killed her. I really doubt that person is Solas because he created the Veil because somebody killed Mythal. It could have been anybody of the gods who wanted her power. But I think there is also a possibility  that somebody killed Mythal because that person knew what Solas would do so somebody also tricked Solas. I think that would explain Mythal's words that the world was betrayed like she was betrayed. Maybe that plan is still going. Maybe tearing the veil was also in that plan. Those people are immortal. Time doesn't have the same meaning to them than mortals.

If Solas is a spirit/demon then I believe that it might be harder to change his plan. We have seen this before with spirits. There is need for some other methods in convincing them than just words. Mythal must have known this. Maybe she sacrificed herself because she knew that she couldn't convince Solas to change his plan. But she was cunning and send her godhood to Morrigan and Mythal had made Morrigan earlier to promise that Mythal can use her.

I suspect that we will deal with Solas one way or another in DA4. But maybe the end is just a beginning and he wasn't the bad guy after all but there is somebody else that pulls the strings.

I think Mythal must have made Morrigan as a goddess or she is now living inside her. Anyway if Morrigan is going to stop Solas I think she definitely needs Abelas and his sentinels. Solas might have get all the other elves but he might not want to touch those thighs because of his guilt.

Sorry I forgot to mention, the part that seems Orc language is "he can die" translated to rot13 encryption code. Weekes doesn't like people making spoilers and he asks that questions containing them are coded that way. I doubt that Abelas can die is a spoiler anymore, but just in case.

PCs sure can't completely trust Flemeth, but as player I love that she's so ambiguous that we can't be sure of her intentions after three games.

I wanted to ask, since we had the did Abelas recognize Solas discussion before Trespasser, what do you think know? Solas must have become quite famous (or infamous) in his time, so I definitely believe Abelas knew who was in front of me.

I missed the sentinels preparing for Mythal's murderer info, does Abelas say it?

I think Abelas definitely knew who Solas was and Solas definitely knew that Abelas knew Solas was squirming so much that the whole situation must have been very painful to him.

Yes, the more I think about it, the more I think Mythal is the true villain and not her pet wolf.  So this would mean, in the case of Abelas, "be careful what you wish for".

Firstly, why would the removal of vallaslin cause a scar? My Lavellan doesn't have one. Why would Mythal even insist on putting vallaslin on Solas? I have a hard time believing you are going to take something like a pride or especially a wisdom spirit and convince it to let you mark it as property. It's just nooooo. The reason I believe that is that you might think the Elvhen are old but I guarantee the spirits are even older. Mythal may have coaxed Solas out of the Fade but just like Cole he isn't going to do things against his nature. Why? Remember what happened to Solas's friend when it was forced to do things against its nature? Spirits are very... stringent in respect to the aspect they embody be it pride, wisdom, rebellion *cough* etc... At a strange guess, I wonder if Mythal had been friends with this spirit for a long time and then when the Evanuris became increasingly cruel she asked for help. The spirit decided the best way to help was either to possess her until her murder (because we are assuming he had physical form all along or become his own entity like Cole. The problem that I have with the latter is that Solas seemed perplexed by Cole's body formation. He never made it sound like it was something he had come across before. It was new territory. 

 

I do not believe for one second that you can take a character like Flemythal and say she is good, she is bad but nothing between. Flemeth is the embodiment of grey area. I also believe her to be a protector of sorts. Don't get me wrong... I think she has an agenda. But I think unlocking the gods and f*cking them up again is too simplistic of an agenda. No... there is some major sh*t about to go down in Thedas and I think it is to do with something that is not the veil coming back down. That's Solas's deal. I believe Flemeth could have dropped the veil long ago if that is what she was after. Think about how crazy powerful Solas is now. Flemeth was packing some serious power. I also firmly believe Morrigan would find the plan to destroy humanity insane. It wouldn't benefit her and she is all about benefiting herself. If Abelas was created and she does take the godhood, she will be able to recreate him. She will potentially also have a hold on Solas, though I doubt it. Dude is all about not owing anything to the Evanuris.

I think Mythal created Abelas from clay and Solas' mark was caused by Mythal when she summoned her through a pipe and when Solas materialized in front of her she took the pipe away and that leaved the mark. So he is marked by Mythal

 

I think one interesting aspect is that did Morrigan accept that Mythal will take her body when she met Mythal in crossroads? Because Morrigan did promise something. Maybe Mythal now controls her body because of that and can continue her plans. It would be interesting if Mythal would still controls those who are bound to her. I'm thinking of Abelas and I think that would be best for him. I don't think it would be good for him if Solas would control him because his plan is a very bad idea. I also don't want that Morrigan is controlling him because I know that she wouldn't keep her hands of him! I know that!

Perhaps he was offered to join with someone? Because what's weird... I get the impression Solas didn't do the Cole thing and create his own body. Solas was first so that's the spirit part. Where the f*ck did the body come from? Did the Elvhen have that power? F*ck me. 

 

I think it depends on whether Solas was a seperate entity running around or if he was inhabiting like Anders II except Mythal I in this case. Cause I'm still not sold on Solas having bodies created for him theory. He also seemed really amazed about Cole's body. So I'm still leaning towards Mythal being his host at first. The body came later perhaps from a newly dead Elvhen. Yeah... don't think about that too much. Then again... it would explain why Solas is the same height as the modern elf. If he can shape shift his body then he can change his height and other attributes. Winky wink wink. Cause there is no way Solas was anywhere near the same height as Abelas. Mythal loved them tall. B*tch had taste. Respect. That's why I think Abelas didn't recognize him at first. Not only was he still half asleep and damn grumpy but Solas may not have had a body when Abelas was around. Even if he did have a body it might not have looked like it does now at a guess. This crazy voodoo sh*t is making my head hurt. But it leads me to the next thing which I think sums up the relationship between Abelas and Solas and makes for a beautiful confrontation that will hopefully happen in the next game.

 

So here is the codex: (stick with me... this is some interesting sh*t)This codex is actually incredibly important when it comes to the Elvhen rebellion, Mythal and the Dread Wolf.

 

The new ones are faithful to Mythal, but do not understand what she was in her fullness. Without the wise to lead them, they will lose what they should have been.

I will teach them. They must serve. We must prepare for those who cast Mythal down.

 

Abelas says they needed to prepare for those who cast Mythal down. So what does that mean? Cast down means to humble or to lower. So Abelas is saying we need to prepare for those who lowered Mythal (take her off the throne.. denounce her I suspect). He isn't saying those who murdered Mythal because she has already been murdered so they aren't going to come back into the temple and do it again . I think he's talking about the rebellion and those rebellious Elvhen who probably walked into the temple and had the gall to say she is a false god. (I doubt they said it to Abelas's face) More likely they walked in and mumbled it quickly and walked out. But you can imagine the chaos and the looting and rioting that's going on. It happens whenever a government is being overthrown. People lose their sh*t. Lot's of them were slaves so... I don't even want to think about how awful those times were in Elvhenan.

 

Abelas didn't go to the rebellion. In my opinion he shut the f*cking doors in the Dread Wolf's face.

 

 This is my theory: Solas is telling the Elvhen that the gods are false, remove your vasallin, grab a six pack and let's tailgate back at my place. Then when we are fully drunk we will go kick some *ass. Seriously, I believe Abelas did not take kindly to being told that his precious goddess was not a god. I suspect it only made him even more stubborn. So he says f*ck you Solas I'm shutting the temple doors. Don't bring your blasphemous *ass in here. So if he had recognized him back at the temple I think there would have been a confrontation. Now it's possible he did and he tolerated it. But I do think there is some bad blood between these two it just hasn't come out yet.

I think Morrigan has to agree to joining with Mythal. Mythal has been sent through an eluvian to.... ? Wherever the hell Morrigan is which is either Tevinter or Rivain because we are going to one of the two next. Might be going to Rivain. The devs kept going on about how much they want to do that. Lots of people think the Inky stabbing the map near Tevinter meant that was going to be the setting for DA4. She/he is actually stabbing the town named Solas. Egg boy you in the sh*t now. 

 

Mythal definitely still controls those bound to her because it is most likely a spiritual bond. Mythal's power is not the same as her godhood. In other words, it's like you could take the petrol out of the car but that doesn't make you the owner of the car. You just got the raw energy not the power behind the wheel, which is Mythal.

 

Mythal is all like B*tches I have some sh*t that I need to f*ck up here in Thedas. Ain't no puppy wolf thing goin to get in my way. She just has to do a trade in every couple of thousand years. Morrigan is the newer model. Better mileage, new set of wheels...

 

What I think really happened? Elgar'nan cheated on Mythal and she wants a woman's revenge. Actually, I do wonder now if Elgar'nan and Mythal were ever a couple or if it is all just fabricated and completely wrong like a lot of the lore. And why is it Mythal is starting to sound lonelier and lonelier to me?? Like... let's say she was in a relationship with Elgar'nan right? Why is she going out and finding spirits to bring into her life and creating smoking hot sentinels? Was this a repressed relationship? Was Elgar'nan crap under the sheets? I mean WTF??? I need to know. F*ck humans in Thedas. The elves are far more interesting.  

 

And that brings me to my last raving point... because what I think... what I really believe would be the ultimate revenge for Mythal is that she has a plan to take the complete power of the pantheon in order to return herself to her true form. I think she knows a way to do it and I think that's how it ties into Solas. And I'm really annoyed at myself for giving away the plot of my story but... it is what I believe regardless.

I wonder if it means that Solas has yet to fully become a person since he seems amazed by the prospect that Cole is getting closer to obtaining what he hasn't been able to in forever. Or maybe Solas turned back before he could become fully elf... can't say human because he's not one. Abelas says we are trapped. Why? The door stopped working? I think it means that if they were to leave then they would be confronted by the rebellious Elvhen. The new ones risk being influenced by what Abelas considers blasphemy. So they can't go out and they have to protect the well, so that would make them trapped. When I say go out, I mean like go to town and return etc... not leave permanently. They are still guarding the well no matter what. But if you have a bunch of people outside who are going to do everything in their power to tell your acolytes they believe in a false god what else can you do but shut the doors?

 

"We are trapped. The ones born here do not understand the keenness of what we have lost, or why so many of their elders weep as they enter uthenera. The new ones are faithful to Mythal, but do not understand what she was in her fullness. Without the wise to lead them, they will lose what they should have been.

I need to review the conversation with Solas to get a clear timeline. I'm not sure what happened first, Mythal's murder or the rebellion? Could the turmoil caused by the rebellion have made it easier to murder Mythal or use the rebellion to justify it? Anyway, Mythal didn't agree with Solas plans, she kept her servants after all, asked Abelas to guard the temple and kept the geas on the Well. Also as per the codex "the new ones are faithful to Mythal", i.e. they aren't raised in the freedom preached by Solas. Did Solas end up antagonising Mythal even if she.was her closest friend or lover, the same way he ends up antagonising Quizzy even if friend or lover?

Questions, questions. That Enavuris bitchin' sure makes my head hurt, yo.

It would have been perfect! He then either warns you of Solas in a cryptic way, or challenges you. I feel they missed out with that.

Damn now that would be a major point of contention between Abelas and Solas right there. Need to find out the order of how it happened.

Exactly! It's just that until Trespasser was released I always wondered about that codex because it didn't make sense. I was like... why is Abelas preparing for the gods when the gods are locked away? It's not what he means at all. It makes much more sense when you factor in the rebellion. Abelas must have received orders from Mythal not to participate and to ensure the safety of the well no matter what happens. That's why he is willing to die for it until circumstances change his reasoning. 

 

Did Solas end up antagonising Mythal even if she.was her closest friend or lover, the same way he ends up antagonising Quizzy even if friend or lover? 

 

After visiting this again, I think so. I wondered when the codex would finally make sense. It doesn't mean Mythal and Solas hated each other because of the rebellion. Now I highly suspect Mythal was secretly supportive to a degree. But look at the position she was in. There are also a few codex entries that support this. She used her wit to outmaneuver the pantheon and to change their minds often. So here she is probably put in the position where best bud is out rebelling the f*ck out of Thedas. All the pantheon turns to her like: what the f*ck? Do you support what Solas is doing? How much you want to bet that she died in the end to save Solas's *ass?

Aye that would make sense in that context. But I still believe that Abelas was against that rebellion. I also believe he did shut the doors because of it and any new elves born in the temple were forbidden to leave it. Wait... so Abelas mentions the new ones born in the temple. Ah man... f*ck that's awful. I just realized... those new Elvhen were born mortal I'm going to go cry now.

 

It depends.. if Abelas blames Solas for Mythal's death no way will he be on his side. Also... Abelas has accepted the death of his people probably because he believes Mythal to be dead so what would be the point in bringing it back? Abelas is all about Mythal. Just another reason I see him having some real hate for Solas. But not like stupid hate. It's more of a reasonable well thought out hate born from all he has suffered because the veil was taken away. It's actually quite understandable.

You have a very good point, but I think that it's one more thing why Abelas wouldn't support Solas;

after all, he lost everything, possibly including Mythal, because of Solas rebellion. It's probably wishful thinking on my part and maybe as my bf says Solas offer to Abelas is some kind of recruiting, but it seems to me that Abelas isn't so convinced that the good ol' times can be brought back. Anyway it would be a very interesting situation, Bioware you have to bring Abelas back in DA4!!!

 

Babelas I  everything you said. It's not that Solas and Mythal hated each other because of the rebellion, in the stinger it's clear that they cared for each other deeply. But they couldn't have agreed on that, and Solas wanting freedom for slaves at any cost and Mythal wanting to keep her power and her servants must have been a sore point between them.

This thread feels like home now. I enjoy coming here everyday and never shutting up. But more than that I consider everyone here friends and it's nice to be able to just talk without fear of getting shut down.

Went back and visited Solas there at the end. Is it just me or is the editing in that scene off? Like one minute my Inky is looking one way and then it just cuts suddenly. A shame too. The music is epic and Solas... he really pulls at the heart strings there at the end. 

 

So what I did learn for sure is this:

 

Mythal was murdered and the veil went up. So I'm going to guess... Rebellion, Mythal murdered, veil. That would make sense and now I really do believe Mythal died saving Solas's *ass. There is no way Abelas would be happy about that. He obviously didn't agree with the rebellion. They got to bring him back. He has to confront Solas over this sh*t. F*ck him up Abelas. I'm teasing... kind of. But you have to admit an exchange of words between those two would be epic.

When you go looking for Kieran and you meet Mythal/Flemeth who then makes deal with Morrigan. I don't remember anymore what the details were but Morrigan wanted to save Kieran and she made some deal with Mythal. I'm too lazy to check was it. Luckily there is wikia:

Kieran will enter Morrigan's eluvian into the Fade and Morrigan chases after him. Joined by the Inquisitor, they find Kieran with Flemeth. When Morrigan attempts to attack, Flemeth magically commands who drunk from the Well to make her stop, revealing herself as a vessel of Mythal. She then offers a deal: Flemeth keeps Kieran and Morrigan is freed from her, or Kieran returns to Morrigan but Flemeth will keep hunting her. Morrigan refuses her offer, willing to even sacrifice her body to her mother to spare her son. With that, Flemeth only takes the Old God essence of Urthemiel from Kieran. She then tells Morrigan that she could never possess an unwilling host before departing.

[Abelas Forever!]

After beating Trespasser last night, I feel we missed an Abelas cameo! After Solas says he has a place for him at the Temple of Mythal, he should have showed up when you first speak to the guardians. It would have been perfect! He then either warns you of Solas in a cryptic way, or challenges you. I feel they missed out with that.

I would have loved to see Abelas again! But then he might have been "dead" again and because I would love to see him in DA4 it would have complicated that matter. So I would like to think that he is in Tirashan with other strange elves.

Oh that part... Flemeth was testing Morrigan. (actually Mythal was testing Morrigan) I think it has something to do with Mythal being the goddess of motherhood. So you know... would Morrigan give her life to save her child sort of thing. She past the test.

 

And here I thought I was crazy. So he is alive in your game too Raynah? I was like what the... when I heard that line from both of my Inkys pt's.

 

Abelas isn't dead and there is nothing that can be said to change my mind. Hehe.
