That was smexy! I do tend to believe he can be good with women when not protecting wells or facing extinction. I think in the right circumstances he is a smooth talker. He has had plenty of time to perfect his approach.

Ah! Well I have to say Alistair was walking funny in my pt... but honestly, it was all very tame considering what her mother had supposedly demonstrated or didn't. Uggg let's face it. That hut was small. 

 

Those thighs... I can think of so many uses. Abelas needs to be naked but failing that I will go with seeing his legs. It's really not too much to ask is it? Abelas has nice lips. I'd love to see him after he has been out of the temple for some time. His skin complexion would go back to normal and I would hope he would grow out his hair.

 

I have a new theory. We know that Flemythal can have people bound to her through the well. But I was thinking... what if she has some sort of bond over Morrigan because Morrigan was born to Mythal. Wonder if there is something there that isn't as powerful as the hold the well has on her but enough that Mythal can sense where Morrigan is most of the time. Just a thought.

Lmao... I noticed something and... well it may not be well received but hey it's me and I'm going to say it. All of the sentinels were men. The one woman we did see was the enchantress and she did not fight. That enchantress must be one of the oldest, if not the oldest, member of the temple still alive. Anyway... I got the impression that in the case of the sentinels women were either not permitted to fight or they had different roles within the temple. We know the First Enchanter in a Circle is seen as a parental figure. This woman came across as authoritative. I highly suspect she tells Abelas off regularly. But anyway... back to my point. I wonder if during the time of Elvhenan if women did not fight or if they were never arcane warriors. Any thoughts? I mean because I know there were women in the temple because Abelas talks about children. I think they may have been hidden away. I'm all for women's rights (being a woman) but I could handle Abelas being my protector. I'd be okay with that. I wonder if women served more as lore masters etc... in the temple. Any thoughts?

Babelas I would be very ok with many things what comes to Abelas I would love it if Abelas would be my protector but then again I would love it if he was some cold hansom man and I would have to seduce him. I would also love it if he would seduce me. I would also love it if there would be friendship first which would develop into love. I would also love it if the romance would start casually without feelings and that would develop into love. You know friends with benefits and I got carried away

Ok. About women. I have no idea. I think Mythal is the only one we have seen but it could have been that she used other methods than fighting to get where she was. Maybe she used the same methods as Flemeth/Mythal did. Maybe she summoned Solas because she didn't fight herself.

I wondered that about Solas. I remember when i first saw the wolf statues in ToM all i could think was protector. The Emerald Knights had the same statues that represented their wolf allies and protectors.

I know Solas says the Evanuris were like war heroes at first. But that doesn't mean they actually fought in the wars. They may have made the decisions and plans that led to victory. I'm just wondering if there were rules. It's an ancient society. It wouldn't surprise me if it was a bit backwards in regards to social norms. I'm not saying Mythal can't protect herself because that's jsut funny. She can turn into a bloody dragon. But I wonder if the specific discipline of Dirth'ena Enasalin was a male oriented combat style. Or I may be on the wrong path completely and they just reused the same model because it was cheaper that way. It's just interesting that the one female is not an arcane warrior but an enchantress.

Now that you said it, it makes sense that the gods didn't fight in those wars personally. Although they might have at first. I think there must have been rules that you can't kill gods for real or then there wasn't but I think it might have been possible and maybe that's why Mythal's death was so huge thing.

 

It could have been that they didn't add that woman as a warrior for example because then they would have to create a model for her and that would have required more resource etc.

Hehe... in DAO Leliana and Morrigan have a conversation and basically Morrigan tells her about her mother's ummm habits. She says something about how Flemeth had "visitors" and that basically she ummmm used them to death. I don't know how that works. It might involve coffee but ya know. I was just thinking if Morrigan inherits Mythal the Warden might want to take some unusual precautions.

Anyhow, Mr. Hawke, totally devoted to Merrill, will let her finish the Eluvian (*hums that "The Things We Do for Love" tune*), not sure if her clan survives.  No, probably not.  Hawke is a walking catastrophe, with Merrill at his side... yeahhhh, not looking too good for the clan.  Thankfully he was smart enough to make Bethany a Warden before supporting Anders and going all rebellious and stuff.

 

But... Fenris.  I simply cannot have a worldstate where Fenris dies.  Especially since, down the line, and this is where the fun begins:

I always romance Fenris in DA2 I can't stay away from him I have friendromanced him while supporting mages. I actually didn't think much about that or does it make sense. Well love conquers all I guess my Hawke understood that he had a hard life and let him rant because of that.

Not boring at all! I always love hearing about people's set up and pt's. The description of the Hawkes, Wardens and Inkys usually have something amusing in them. Yours did not disappoint!

 

You're right. Your Warden is set. Mmmmm Zev. I have to admit, I am always best friends with Morrigan too. It kills me when she says the line about being friends. Sends a chill up my spine. I have Morrigan love in DAO

 

I really like Loghain. I didn't the first time I played the game because I didn't understand his story. But once I did, there was no looking back. He's just interesting as hell.

 

Oh yeah... man I used to have this huge hard on crush for male Hawke. I fell in love with him after the trailer for DA2. That beard did things to me and his voice! Maker... I'm going to go all Frankenstein on your *asses one day and do this: Zev's hair, Hawke's voice, Abelas's thighs (though I love his voice too) I need a torso! Who is the torso!!! Maybe keep Hawke's torso. Dude is built.

As I remember if you max out friendship early on with Fenris it stays maxed out. Make sure you do Questioning Beliefs quest or he will come after you. Make sure you get all his gifts and do the personal quest. be selective with what you say around him. Mostly I try and max him out as quickly as possible.

Having Fen and Hawke get together at first is an interesting option, considering Fenris is definitely not in a head space that is ready for romance at the beginning of the game.  Hm...

 

And I am glad that it is possible to side with the mages and not have to fight the Little Wolf.  Argh, that broke my heart when it came to that in one of my games.

You're really going to laugh at the way I fell in love with maleHawke.  I mean, yeah, the voice, the trailer, that was what convinced me to buy the game.  In DAO, what was that templar's name in the chantry in Lothering with Mr. Boulton's voice?  Yeah, anyway, I wanted him bad.

 

Anyway, so after at least 20 partial playthroughs through each of these games, I have finally figured out that I can only play two classes effectively -- the sneaky sneak archer or the Arcane Warrior.  Since there is no Arcane Warrior in DA2, when I played my first manHawke, he was a mage, and I just took control of Varric the whole time.  Ever notice maleHawke's swagger when you're not playing him?  Holy cats... yeah, that's what did it for me.  Shades of Abelas walking away...

 

Since I'm going to try to keep both Fenris and Merrill happy, yes, maybe I do need to engineer it so that I max out Fen's friendship first.  I think I remember seeing a guide on the DA wiki somewhere.

Well, the DA2 experiment ended rather abruptly since I am getting the dreaded missing textures bug.    Ah, at least watching my Warden's Dalish wedding again was quite nice.  http://www.nexusmods...age/mods/1985/? I had forgotten that Zathrian still lives in this game!  He looks so much like Solas.

 

Oh well, I guess it's just back to just creating the worldstate from the Keep and seeing Neanderthal Hawke in Skyhold.  

 

I guess I'll see Abelas that much sooner though.

Yeah, I just read that if you have full rivalry with Fenris he won't fight you in the end (WTF?) so maybe I'll just go that way with him.  That is, if I can get over Aveline's lower body being completely missing.

 

I think the best part about this worldstate is that if feral Lavellan wakes the **** up and gets over Solas, Fenris is still single.  I think they'd be good together, way better than he and Hawke.  (I refuse to accept that Fenris went with Isabela.  No STDs please.)  And, as always, hopefully Abelas is still single as well as available.

 

Also, the bitter part of me hopes that Solas will see Lavellan choosing Abelas over him.

Ooo that's right... you get 100% rivalry he won't attack. Huh... my memory is like a soaked sponge.

 

I like a bit of broody mixed with difficult to obtain and voice that makes you melt. Zevran is one of those characters that I think is genius. I know some people love him and others absolutely hate him. But I always loved how he used sex to learn about other people. They are so freaked out by the questions he is asking that they do not even see what he is doing. It's genius really.

 

I don't think Abelas is taken. Don't see him easily falling in love with anyone even Elvhen. He's got some tragic backstory besides the obvious. I just know it. I need the Bioware. I need the feels. And I really need people to stop painting him as a racist. I saw something on tumblr that made my blood boil by someone who claims to love the character. I mean can I just ask all of you because maybe I am too blinded by the thighs... do you think Abelas is a racist? Let me explain what I see. But I would be interested in perspective here.

And well, only my Dalish Warden wanted Zathrian, because she's right up there with him with all the shem hate.  I was just saying that Mr. Russ' voice is another one that is just melty.  His model is also nicely done.  

 

As for Abelas being racist, I think he goes through the same transformation that Solas went through, but at a blinding pace -- at first they aren't people, but when he sees that they are just truly ignorant and still show respect for Mythal, he changes his views.  If you don't show respect for Mythal, well, what else is he supposed to think/do?!  It's his job!  (Cue Kim Davis meme:  I saw an elven mage enter the temple and still did my job!)

 

I really hope that Abelas' "humanity" comes out in the new installment, and that he doesn't just turn into a blind follower of Solas' evil plan.

 

EDIT:  Oh, I have no idea when that mod was made.  The good news is, you can just add it to your game whenever and have a looksee because it plays when you exit the last door at the end.

 

I call him "Neanderthal Hawke" because in DAI is brows and beard are so wonky he looks like a caveman.

I didn't at the time because I was afraid of the guy, that temper! If we think Abelas is grumpy before his morning coffee, I can't think what Zathrian is capable of.

I also see Abelas as the difficult to get type. As someone said in the Solas thread (sorry I don't want to dive in that rain of posts to find the author): Heavy risk, but the thiiiighs 

 

I don't think Abelas is racist at all. All ancient elves seem to regard their civilization as far superior to the rest, and given what we read about it in Trespasser, they may have a point. But mostly Abelas is uninterested in modern races, to them they are greedy shems wanting to stole his preciouuussss well. And like Tielis said, he goes through the same process as Solas but at the speed of light. All it needs is you showing respect via rituals and he's able to give you much more credit than Solas in a year with the Inquisition. He may still think that times of Arlathan were much better than modern times but it doesn't make the Inquisitior any less worthy.

I also don't think that Abelas is racist. He doesn't like Dalish but I think that is understandable because it seems that Dalish have tried to invade his temple. Dalish haven't respected the sacred ground and they have tried to invade the temple and fetch the riches from it and maybe drink from the well. I think he is also right when he says that Dalish are shadows wearing vallaslin. They are shadows of the ancient elves because ancient elves where immortal beings who lived in an amazing world build by magic. The Dalish are mortal beings who live in a forest and try to survive.

Abelas is also quite angry at Tevinter but I think that is also understandable because people in Tevinter think that they conquered Elvhen empire and that was a huge victory when in reality there weren't much left from the Elvhen empire. No wonder that Abelas is angry. Besides I don't see him showing disrespect towards any particular race. To me it seems that the world has changed into something very different than he had used to but because he had to protect the well he has been forced to see the change while he couldn't have changed with the world because he was trapped in that temple.

I'm here damn it. Just  very disheartened though... after I read the comments here I have to admit I was surprised. I am so used to people spouting crap when it comes to Abelas. What happened was this: someone who has been writing a roleplay of Abelas for a very long time said that they believe Abelas would view an elven blooded human as an abomination .They then went on to apologize for the character and that made me angry. Abelas never said those words, they said them, yet I feel like people are going to take it as gospel. It does nothing for his image, which we keep fighting hard to show in a positive light. So I don't know how you can profess to love the character on the one hand and then make him out to be this awful racist piece of work on the other. I simply do not get that. I write him too. I've had to deal with his past. I've had to explore the character at length. Some things about Abelas will never change but I think if anyone could sympathize with another, regardless of race, it would be a slave. But how you can get total, horrid racist after 5 mins of gameplay, I do not know. Also consider, like many of you have said, he treats you like a person if you are respectful. 

 

Firstly, I don't agree with them. They are entitled to write what they want, but I do not have to like it. I think Abelas sees Shemlen and I think he sees Elvhen in the world. That distinction does not make him racist. It's just a fact. A human with elven blood is human for all intense purposes. It's why the Dalish do not want their people having relationships with humans. It is a big deal if you are an elf. It means you will not be producing more of your people. Elves are already declining in Thedas. Humans have taken so much from them, so I don't see this as racist. I see it as survival. Now take the Elvhen. There are even less of them and as far as we know, there is no way for them to return to their natural state. They are on the brink of extinction. So... even though Abelas may or may not hold the view that he needs to get happy with another elf, I don't think Abelas would see an elven blooded human as an abomination. He would see them as Shemlen, human Shemlen. You know, it's kind of funny if you start seeing the world through his eyes. Ooo shemlen everywhere. 

 

But I think after reading what everyone posted here, it makes sense that if you respected his culture and his beliefs he is going to treat you like anyone else. I remember that he warmed up towards the end of my visit to the temple. I also remember that if I chose to say something like: 'this must be hard for you' he really started to tell me his woes. He appreciates it when you empathize. He's willing to say, 'yeah this has been effing awful.' He wouldn't bother if he saw you as something he scraped off his shoe. If we had more time with him, I'm certain the biscuits and tea would have come out and he would have told us about the last 1,000 years staring at temple walls. Poor guy.

 

I keep reminding myself of one thing: Abelas didn't die in any of my pt's. Does this mean I get punished for other people's pt's?
