Yup, but here he is with hundreds of years of conditioning to be stoic, and perhaps even cynical, to hide who he is and what he's feeling, to serve Mythal, whatever she might ask of him. He detests the modern world, feels no kinship with the shemlen elves (though perhaps he could; he does respect the Inquisitor, at least). And from his dialogue I'd say he has a vested interest in Not Becoming Mortal Like You Guys.
Well, he may not even be immortal anymore now that the Well is gone. We simply don't know. But yes, I can see him totally not wanting to be like either the Dalish or the city elves. But I believe that both Solas and the Inquisitor have given him hope that there's a place for him somewhere (assuming, of course, that Morrigan didn't stab him).
