There were several very opinionated individuals against it. They were all caught up on the "but he's dead in my..." "retcon!" "you are just thirsty." And several folks I see over here defending Abelas to the DEATH!!! I hope more people find it and shower it with love!

Sad, but expected. I'll stay optimistic and hope more and more people will join us in the Thigh Frolicking! I thank those of you that already did  <3

I keep forgetting Abelas is a slave. I don't get it. Mythal and Solas best buddies and she has slaves. I stay confused.

Precisely. Solas goes into Mythal's Temple, and what does he say? "So Mythal endures" and (about Abelas) "He clings to all that remains of his world, because he lacks the power to restore it".

Not "By all crotches that are golden, Mythal, what you asked of these people is kind of sh*tty"

Not "So Mythal still has slaves? That kinda b*tchy, b*tch."

Grrrr I have to remember that beautiful last scene between Solas and my Lavellan to not make a big maul with all his contradictions and hit him with it.

However Solas did say that she was a voice of reason among their kind. He respects her. At one point in the temple(?)he called her a mother a protector..i don't remember the exact quote(i'm looking for it) but i remember the mother bit. So perhaps even though she had slaves and Solas was against that he could over look that fact because she treated them better than the others treated their own slaves?

My likes have reset wtf???

Well.. perhaps we will see that Solas has set the sentinels free in the next game. I hope the reason they were not free is because Mythal was murdered before she could set them free. Then again... why she have slaves in the first place o.O How was Solas ever okay with it? She get a pass because had a nice rack? What is the deal?

One day it will all make sesne o.O

Btw... Flemeth's grimoire as a leafless tree on the front of it that looks like Abelas's tattoo.

As for the haters... well bringing Abelas back really doesn't have to mess up lore. There are clever ways to implement it without it seeming cheap.

She be the all mother.

My likes sometimes reset at strange times (like now, for instance)

I think that Solas is more emotional than he likes to think, and tends to overlook faults in people he cares for that he doesn't forgive in people he doesn't care for. So he was ok with Mythal having slaves because they were close and he justified it with thinking that she treated her slaves better than the other Evanuris. Same as he can forgive an Inquisitor he his friends with or romanced even when they make choices he is clearly against, such as not banishing the Wardens. I may be wrong, I think there is still much we don't know of the relationship between Solas and Mythal, but I definitely get the "I always see my friends' actions in a better light" vibes.

@Babelas is that so? Mythal's symbol on Flemeth's grimoire? Those b*tches had it all planned! I'd have loved to say "Wassup Mythies" with my Dalish Warden and her bold Elgar'nan vallaslin  :D

Abelas related: do you think Solas would offer to remove Abelas vallaslin if he joined him? And would Abelas accept?

I would like to think that regardless of if Abelas joined him or not that he would offer to remove it as a sort of reparation for ya'know the whole mythal scene.

That right there tells me that Abelas is not going to fall for Solas' sweet talking about joining the rebellion.

Abelas may come to realize that what Mythal asked of him was shitty, but he's not going to throw away his loyalty just because Fen'Harel tells him that there's a new world out there full of sunshine and rainbows.

Or it could also mean that once he knows that Solas has the power to restore it, he won't cling to the past anymore.

ARGH I don't think we'll know for sure until the next game is out.  If only I could go into uthenera for the next four years.  :(

Most characters in DA:I didn't actually snuff it on-screen.  Abelas does if Morrigan kills him, but considering Leliana can come back as a lyrium ghost even if the Warden chopped off her head, I'd say the writers can use just about any character.

Though personally I don't like it when dead characters come back, even if they're characters I liked.  Awkward though it is, I preferred the Mass Effect 3 approach of having another character take up their plot role, and getting some sort of benefit for saving the intended character.

All I can say is that if they go this route, I hope the new sentinel is at least as hot as dear Abelas.

All of the ancient elves seem to wear that golden armor, even Solas.  Which means they will all have glorious thighs :)

Cooking right now... but thought I'd drop this off:

GB_plt_ico_flemeths_grimoire.png Flemeth's Grimoire Category: Miscellaneous Type: Gift Installation: Base Installation An old but lovingly cared for book, bound in leather of questionable origin. The pages smell of herbs and wood smoke. Intricate stitching on the cover marks out a leafless tree, strangely ominous in its stark appearance. This gift bears special significance to Morrigan. Obtained: • The Korcari Wilds (Flemeth's Hut) - Found in chest within hut

You mean as in Solas, Abelas and the Happy Shiny Sentinels find out Mythal is alive by meeting her?

That right there tells me that Abelas is not going to fall for Solas' sweet talking about joining the rebellion.

I could happily go into uthenera until friday afternoon  :D

I don't really like the dead characters coming back either, so this would really be a cool option. You killed Abelas, you get another shiny sentinel; you saved Abelas, you get His Almighty Thighship.

Ah, I see what you're saying!  It's been a long time since I've played the ME series.

I thought what Sable was saying is that we'd be getting a new sentinel by default since there's a chance he could die in DAI.

Needless to say, I like your answer better.  :)

And this is why i should not frantically search. level headed searches bring better rewards. :D

More like Solas feels like a giant ass for killing/hurting the one thing in Abelas' life that he was fiercely devoted to and is wracked with guilt so he offers to remove it so Abelas doesn't have to live with the reminder that his duty has ended, and his goddesses temple despoiled in such a horrible manner.  But sunshine works to i guess. (I would love that reunion more though, all these elves need a bit more happy)

:D And yes more thigh cakes. yes.

I'm pretty sure Sable meant that there are certain options only accessible if some characters are alive and otherwise you get a new character with a similar role but less options (I have Wrex in mind specifically) So you can respect the choice of those who killed the character while rewarding those who kept him alive.

I hadn't thought about it and it's brilliant! Thanks Sable!

Ohhhhh I see now. Like "Abelas it's my fault you had to spent all those centuries locked in that temple and defending it to death. I remove your vallaslin and we ok?" It's classical Solas too  The poor man, everywhere he looks there is a reminder of what he did, no wonder he's overridden with guilt.

Off to bed, good night sweeties! Hope to see a lot of new posts tomorrow!  <3

Yup :)  Thanks for explaining it better!  Sometimes the new characters in ME3 wound up feeling a bit like replacement goldfish, but they can be well-done.  Mordin's replacement in ME3 was IMO a decent character in his own right.
