Hi dear thigh worshippers, I'm having the crappiest day at work but I was reading you during lunch time and now I feel a bit better ♡

I think the knee faces are a very very poor design choice and I hope Abelas first decision as a free sentinel is killing them with fire And take a honey bath afterwards.

Babelas, you.definitely are onto something. And the Silmarillion connection, brilliant! I love that book, but it's sooooo long since I read it. I must read it again.

Only thing is, Corypheus claims the Black City was already corrupted when the magisters entered. So I think a possible timeline would be:

Mythal goes to the Deep Roads to mine lyrium, she severs the dwarves from the titan > Andruil hunts and kills it (or was it Mythal? Ugh my negative codex memory) > The blight is created from the death Titan > the blight somehow reaches the golden city and corrupts it > Mythal is murdered and Solas creates the Fade to imprison the Evanuris and the blight > meanwhile human Evanurs equivalents i.e. Old Gods were plotting to invade the Golden City and manage.manage to do it when it's already blighted.

I know, it's a very raw and kind of crappy theory.

Makes it sound like Mythal to me. Clawing her way to Flemeth. I've always loved Flemeth but I never realized until DAI how much it's all about her. I don't mind. I think it is wonderful that world revolves around a woman for a change

What a day! Luckyly it will be over soon. Had to get the oldest kidto the doc to check his finger,no fracture but the boy is sporting a nice blue finger!

 

Took a 2 hour(!) nap and still feel like falling over in a fog... *sigh*

 

Played some DA:O today. Yesterday when I played the beginning and saw that leafless tree I got that strange feeling so Babelas you are not alone with that feeling! I can be wrong but someone in the beginning of the game said that the main horde was gathering in Korcari Wilds and Flemeth claimed that her magic would not let the darkspawn to find her. Why would it be so? And why would someone as Flemeth be so close to Alistair to save him(not the king). The whole talk after saving Alistair felt to me as Flemeth was running in circles with her talk,almost taunting the wardens that she had the knowledge of something that the wardens didnt know. I havent read most of codex yet so my information is not complete.

 

I just feel it is so odd also that Solas would be ok with Mythal having slaves as Abelas and then to say actually to Abelas in the temple (be4 he killed/absorbed Mythal) if I believe the translations to be correct that his duty is done now(or something similar)? Why would Solas have the right to say so to Abelas? And the question "Elvhen such as you" was said with so much venom and resentment that...the more I read the more questions I have.

Hey you! Sorry about the kiddo I had the same scare with my daughter about a week ago. She hurt her ankle at school and it was swollen and nasty looking. But she turned out to be fine. They are so resilient. But it doesn't stop them from scaring the crap out of us. Give him a hug from me.

 

I know that feeling. I just did two loads of laundry and some actual work. But... I'm my own boss so I make the hours when I want. LOL though money is always good

 

I actually got goosebumps when I watched it. I was like Mythal! Ooooo she mean. Then I associated Abelas and was like Mmmmmmm Abelas. Life was good again. 

 

ummmm I just realized I have no idea how much of Origins you have played so I don't want to spoil anything.

 

I think you are right. Flemeth was taunting them LOL. That old Elvhen/human woman has too much fun with humans. Flemeth is all like: you think this Blight is bad? Be glad you never met my family.

The more I think about the more I believe Solas had no idea those sentinels were in that temple still. I suspect that Mythal had freed many of her people if she had slaves. These Elvhen may have voluntarily dedicated themselves to Mythal but! I remember what Solas says if you drink from the well. He knows your bound now. So it really does suggest that Mythal had slaves. I'm thinking their relationship developed and Solas changed her mind at a guess. He made her see how wrong it was. I mean he says she was the best of the Evanuris not a saint. So... plus I think Mythal had to keep up appearances and when she failed to do that they murdered her to try and stop the rebellion.

 

That is a really good observation about Abelas and Solas. SS was the first to mention to me that Abelas seemed annoyed with Solas. I didn't catch it because he just seemed annoyed full stop I love his annoyed little face. Reminds me of Cassandra. They could make disgusted noises together.

It's also why I do not believe Abelas would necessarily support Solas. I don't think it is that simple because I suspect and it is just suspect, Abelas may blame Solas for Mythal's murder on some level. All that trash talking the gods and getting the goddess on board for rebellion may have angered him.

Plus, I just want to add that it was very uncertain that DA3 would be made after the unhappy performance of DA2 and yet we see Flemeth get summoned at Mythal's shrine. It's always been there. I think it's kind of cool now when I talk to Flemeth. I'm like: I'm so not worthy! You have the loyalty of his Royal Thighness. *dies*

Sable Rhapsody in ME3 there are also cases when nobody replaces a character. I think this could also work with Abelas. If people killed him then he doesn't come back. Maybe that reduces options what people can do but at least there would be consequences of killing him. I think people have also wanted more consequences of their choices.

gods? Anaris could be Dumat. They could need to bring back the forgotten ones to help take down the Evanuris?

The forgotten ones were banished. Maybe they shapeshifted themselves and become Tevinter gods so that they could revenge to Evanuris. Maybe Tevinter magisters tried to enter the golden city because these forgotten ones provoked them to do that. I'm not sure did that thing go wrong because they caused the blights or was it intended.

If you didn't ally with sentinels then Abelas goes to that well and then Inky can talk with him. After the talking has ended,  he does something and Inky and his/her companions fell backwards and then he starts to destroy the well. And then Morrigan decides that it's for the best that she sneaks behind him and stabs him...

That's true.  I forgot there's no extra character for Miranda or Samara if they die, but other characters in the story basically assume their role (Oriana in Sanctuary, Falere on Kallini).

 

Although I don't always like the idea of giving players less content for a particular character being dead or absent.  Sometimes it makes sense, like how it was implemented in Trespasser.  And sometimes it honestly feels like the game's just being petty.  I'm all for consequences, but I generally prefer consequences to lead to different options/outcomes rather than a lack of options.  Though I totally understand why developers would go for the latter--it makes for less branching and mess.

That's true.  I forgot there's no extra character for Miranda or Samara if they die, but other characters in the story basically assume their role (Oriana in Sanctuary, Falere on Kallini).

For me it does't matter whether there is less content if you killed a character or you made a choice. I mean depending on your actions you can either ally with mages or templars so not all the missions or content are available to you in every playthrough and the same thing is with romances. If I don't play all the romances then I miss out some information.

Obviously you can't do everything every playthrough.  But you get more-or-less the same amount of story. The story is just different if you went to Therinfall vs. Redcliffe, or if you romance Bull instead of Dorian or whomever.  The game doesn't lock you out of content altogether; it just gives you something else to do.

 

IMO that's different from saying, "Well, you didn't save Abelas.  Sorry, you don't get this quest chain since he's not here."  If the story with Abelas was important enough to put into the game in the first place, show me its importance via an alternate storyline if he's dead.  Make me feel the fallout of having lost this character beyond absence of content.

Fair enough, and it's ultimately a question of personal preference. And a lot of it has to do with implementation. For example, in ME3, I'm fine with Samara being absent during her mission because Falere picks up her story role. If, say, we lost out on the Kallini mission altogether because Samara's dead, I'd think that was crap, particularly since there's an easy way to have the mission without the character.
