We need more fanfiction. NEED.

 

He appears in my fanfic as a sort-of party member, but I don't think he's going to be romantically involved with anyone, annnnd I don't do smut.  So I can't satisfy that particular desire, if that's what you are hoping for.

 

Hehe, we all have different tastes, I guess.  Though if you want to headcanon that he just shaves his head instead of being an egg, go right ahead.  

 

It does seem like BioWare is going down the "ancient elves have to look like aliens so we're making them bald" route.  Which is lame, if you ask me.

 

And I'm still trying desperately to play a male Lavellan, but I can't seem to get past his narrow boy-shoulders.    I need a body-switch mod, like yesterday.  Even Cillian the Dalish Arcane Warrior in multiplayer has decent shoulders.  

 

Some have pointed out that it appears Solas shaves.  They said if you look closely in some scenes, he has some hair/stubble on his head.  I haven't noticed this, but I don't doubt it - he also has some fuzz on his face in his texture, apparently.  So, Abelas probably does shave, and isn't just bald.  Perhaps it's something to do with being a priest?

You know that codex makes me wonder what it was like when Mythal was alive and kicking around with her people. 

 

Is Abelas sadden by purely by her absence or is it because his elven pride is hurt by the new generation? 

 

I mean Mythal must have had some great side if they dedicated their immortal lives to serve her.

It might be a bit of Blue and Orange Morality.  Perhaps the ancient elves were devoted to their gods for so long that good and evil no longer particularly mattered as far as the gods were concerned.  Things that players or modern Thedosians would find horrifying (like the elven sacrifice or lakes of blood) might not even faze Abelas.  Just part of the gods doing their thing.

Yeah, who knows what the culture was like back in those ancient days. 

 

Still makes me curious though. If the ancient elves had similar caste systems as Tevinter, then I guess being a sentinel was rather high up in the social food chain than just slaves or elves.

Mmmm... I tend to disagree with that theory because I believe that in order for an audience to fully understand the horror of a storyline, morality must be consistent.  I'm not really sure about Thedas, but at least in DAO morality did seem to be defined the same way we define it.  And question it, as in Loghain's case.

 

I'm more inclined to believe that, since the ancient elves were immortal, time just went by so slowly that when things changed, they changed so gradually that they didn't even notice the change.  I believe that their gods were corrupted very slowly over a very long period of time, and by the time everyone noticed, it was too late.

 

If Abelas is the senior sentinel he appears to be, then I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be pining for the good ol' days, before everything went to hell.

Agreed. I am rather disappointed at the lack of armour variations in Inquisition. I expected to loot an enemy's armour and weapons after defeating them.

Also, do you think they go all the way down like Fenris' or the Inquisitor's cards?  Personally, I would love it if they gave us this option for our Dalish characters in the future.

Abelas is just full of potential imo.Even if he wasn't a LI(which would be a shame),I'd certainly want him in my party.
Especially after what Solas and Dorian told him.
