I remember seeing something about Patrick Weekes saying the medicinal properties of elf root were discovered in the year 4:20 soooooooooo....
SS it's the spirit that travels to the Fade during sleep not the physical. It's the spiritual realm man... like all the colors... I can see all the colors... totally awesome.
I haven't figured out what I think about elves and their spirit form and such. But I have been thinking about the world when fade was part of the physical world. How was that possible? How physical world and the dreaming world could coexist? So the physical world is like a conscious world and the fade is like a unconsciouss world. Back then people were aware of the unconscious world. But then Solas created the Veil that prevents people from entering the unconscious world. I think the dreaming world and the physical world are the "same". We just don't see the fade and the spirits in fade don't see the physical world. But they must exist at the same time. When we enter the fade it looks like we move to another place but it think we are just staying in same place but we just see things differently. Why this sounds so familiar? Is there a theory of unconsciousnes and the fade? I have no idea where that unconscious thing came from. This is weird.
I'm starting to think that back in the day, physical and non-physical were just two different states of being, not two different worlds. For example, we don't think of water as either ice or vapor or liquid water. It's just H2O and has the potential to be in any of the three states depending on its surroundings.
My new crackpot theory is that the spirits of the Fade are basically the ancients who happened to be in spirit state when the Veil went up. And the modern elves are descended from the ones who happened to be in physical state. The surviving ancient elves, like Abelas and Felassan, might have been in an in-between state like uthenera, so they held onto their immortality but were trapped with the physical beings when the Veil went up.
And over the eons, what had once been one world and one people evolved into two. The spirits forgot what it was like to have a physical body, and the mortals forgot what it was like to be a spirit. It would certainly explain why Solas identifies more with spirits than with the modern elves.

Oh I like this theory!
I likey that theory and it makes a lot of sense. You. Are. Not. My. People. You know Abelas had a point especially if what you are saying is true SS. Evolution took over and the elves developed into something new. Now I just want to hit people with the truth upside their Abelas hating heads.
The thing about Abelas all sexiness aside, is that I honestly believe he could have killed Inky elf at any point. I think he even tries to spare Inky elf at the end even if you are disrespectful doesn't he? He's trying to destroy the well. I suspect highly that Mythal taught her people that all life is sacred sort of thing. I know hammer guy comes after you but I really do think Abelas could have ended Inky.
Also explains why when spirits do come through they are so confused by the world. The world isn't supposed to be like that and they haven't evolved with the new world order. It would be like getting ripped through a black hole and expecting to come back out the other side in one piece.

He certainly has numbers on his side, and he makes no secret of his dislike for the Inquisitor regardless of race. But I think practicality might have been the deciding factor, not the value of life. Quizzy got there with Corypheus hot on his/her heels, and it's Corypheus who's been throwing his forces at the temple doors. So IMO it's an enemy-of-my-enemy situation. He could expend his sentinels killing the Inquisitor, but it would be a waste because every moment he delays, Calpernia/Samson is getting closer to the Well.

I still don't see it as dislike, although I'd take that over him being labelled a hateful racist. I mean to truly dislike someone you have to know them. I think it's posturing. He's letting Inky know that Inky isn't welcome and that he will fight to the death for the well. I don't know how anyone can do that politely. People bring race into this but it isn't about your race. It's about the fact you have come into his temple uninvited and that you are after the well and he knows it. I mean isn't nice and sentinel a contradiction? I agree with the practicality argument. It makes sense. I was just thinking about the moment when he is actually at the well. I have never played that scene or watched but I saw the picture the other day of him throwing magic about. He could have ended Inky there imo but he doesn't and I find that odd because he didn't have enough time to destroy the well with Inky still alive. o.O

I know that. I was trying to sound like a stoner
I think I'm pissing the thread off today. But I'm going to leave with this:
Like Sable Rhapsody said it think it might have been that the people could be either in their physical form or in their spiritual form. Although I'm not sure was it that simple. We see in the Tresspasser when we are in the library that there is one of the Varrics books which he hasn't yet written. So it seems that people's plans or dreams etc. exists also in the fade. If they all would be in the same world everything would be chaos. That's why I think there must be two worlds but back in the ancient times elves most likely could move from world to another much easier.
Babelas I think that makes sense. When Solas created the veil all the slaves were in their physical form Abelas included and the gods were left in the fade with the spirits. Then there was chaos and some time later the people from Tevinter came and took the slaves as their slaves and because elves can die then some of these immortal elves died and the new ones were born mortal and when more time passed by all the elves were mortal.

As for the moment when he's actually at the Well, I honestly think that's a case of the plot saying But Thou Must. For the plot to move forward, either Morrigan or quizzy has to wind up with the Well's power. So his actions there are kind of glossed over.

Or maybe the gods were unique, and could exist in both states at once. Solas does say that they don't die easily, which leads me to believe that they altered their natures in some fundamental way. I'm personally a fan of the Old Gods=Evanuris theory, so then when the Veil dropped, their two states were sundered form one another. Their spirit forms were trapped in the Fade, and their physical bodies (the Old God dragons) were trapped in the physical world, separated from one another.
I believe that elven gods didn't die easily because they had gathered a lot of power to themselves. I think that's why Mythal survived. She was powerful enough to survive from being killed but because she was killed she wasn't the same anymore.
I'm sorry. I'm just... ugggggggg. School for my daughter is going badly because her new teacher is simply awful and now I have to decide if placing her in a new school is the right thing to do. I'm stressed. Everything feels stronger than usual. Just ignore me. Emotional wreck. I need a drink and a nap.
But....

Thank you! Even my Abelas porn isn't cheering me up today :/ That's just bad. Might throw new sex scene in story for fun.
I know the gods were getting power from their people. It talks about one opening up a new dimension using the magic from the mass. I think with the Elvhen being spirit in nature it's just harder to kill off a spirit for good. I wonder if it is like Tolkien in that when the immortal elves died their spirits went to the Halls of the Dead until their old hurts were healed. Once they were healed they were reborn. I wonder if it's something similar. If you don't kill them in the spirit realm maybe they can't die for good.

Angry sex?
I meant spirit form. Say Mythal was physical when murdered... it didn't completely kill her. So if you don't kill the spirit form then they just come back.
Angry sex?
Actually that would suit the next chapter. He is... all that power and golden buns and chain mail and honey and thighs... it's sex on legs.

Are we now talking about Abelas having angry sex with somebody? Go Go Go!
Yes... well I was imagining it. Does that count? Honey FTW. I once wrote a chapter with Hawke and Fenris using honey to liven things up. Perhaps I need to do that with Abelas and Ellana. No one but the thread will know the secret of the honey. shhhhhhhh and coffee afterward.
