To answer your question, Abelas definitely seems to be very self confident (I would too, with those thighs and magnificent nose) But I don't think he's vain or minds whether others find him alluring. I think he'd rathred project an imposing image as the dev text said, to make potential trespassers think twice before confronting him.
100 pages really? It wasn't that long ago that I thought if SS and I spend any more time alone together we'd have to start picking out curtains
Oh yeah... on first meeting him I get nothing but bad ass vibes. But then once at the well, he just seems so incredibly vulnerable. I'm probably reading too much into it.

I think it's very hard to say what Abelas's future looks like at this point, assuming he wasn't killed at the Well. We don't know exactly what Solas is up to, or how he's recruiting aid. We don't even know where Mythal is, or who she's with.

I think he's so singular minded that he probably hasn't thought about it in millennia. Once he's reminded of it... hm, not sure. I'd hate for him to become all vain.
Another thought hit me, if the Elvhen are basically spirits incarnate, does this mean that he is now an incarnation of a spirit of Sorrow? That's what Cole calls him, right? What was he before? Antonyms for sorrow include "comfort" and "pleasure". Rowr. Though I could see him more as a Victory, myself.
Y'all are going to laugh, but I caught a cold from one of my dogs. She was sneezing and coughing for a few days, then got over it. Now guess who's sneezing and coughing? Yes, it does happen. One time I was just getting over a cold and I could swear that my dogs were a bit warm and acting a bit subdued. Took them to the vet and sure enough they had low fevers, but nothing else wrong. The vet was amazed.
Also, why does cold medicine have to make you loopy? I'm loopy enough as it is. I had a strange Dagna-like experience in the car last month some time, and my husband said, "Gee, it sounds like you're tripping." Uh huh. No drugs necessary. 
And while I'm ranting, what I really hate is when headcanon is so much better than the game that you have a hard time playing the game. I can't be alone in this, can I?

I can't see Abelas as ever being vain. Maybe I'm fooling myself but he's so obedient. I think Abelas might not have a high opinion or even a good opinion of himself outside of fighting. I don't know. I see two sides to him. The side that has to stand up for Mythal and the side that has been a slave. That's a weird thing to reconcile.

Nope not at all. Then when you write that head canon down it becomes personal and then the game seems very bland in comparison. It's why I sometimes worry what an Abelas romance in DA4 would be like. I'd still like to have one but I do worry.

Nope, that's how I am too with my 'Verse. I have a HC world-state where my Aeducan led other Wardens against the Blight and my Cadash recruited the other Conclave peoples into the Inquisition, and keeps in touch with his siblings (Vaida, Viktor, and Soren Cadash). And then there are headcanons concerning other characters, like Merrill and so on.
When your headcanons are better then the game, replaying the game reminds you of what could've been.
And it sucks.
