I think this is first bioware game that has sold poorly not even in top 10 of month it launched in...

So ether all games sales were digital or dragon age could be done.

The top 10 best-selling games for the month are:

1. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (360, Xbox One, PS4, PS3, PC)
2. Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3)
3. Super Smash Bros. (Wii U, 3DS)
4. Madden NFL 15 (360, Xbox One, PS4, PS3)
5. Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (3DS)
6. Far Cry 4 (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)
7. Pokemon Omega Ruby (3DS)
8. NBA 2K15 (PS4, 360, Xbox One, PS3, PC)
9. Assassin's Creed: Unity (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
10. Halo: The Master Chief Collection (Xbox One)

To be fair, those are some BIG games on that list. I only have one of them at the moment and that is Pokemon Omega Ruby, which I have played almost as much as I've played Inquisition so far.

Those are all well established franchises.  So not many people are familiar with Dragon Age then say GTA or Assassin's Creed.  But hey, at least it won GOTY.

...Maker's Breath DA I is being outsold by THAT list.  *headdesk*

Dragon Age and BioWare in general have yet to pull really blockbuster numbers, though ME3 did pretty well.

Still is unclear how well DAI is doing compared to predecessors, which seems more relevant to me than how it does compared to CoD or GTA.

That's a shame to hear. I think it's not unexpected that DA was going to die with DA:I, though. Like the poor PC UI, this is an outcome I was prepared for with DA:I.

Of course, EA has the brand so we can get a very different action game with a terrible story and no Bioware elements later on.

the interesting thing in these charts is: not a SINGLE game that would interest me! Amazing indeed. Also not a single RPG for that matter, just the usual mass-compatible console-stuff + north-american sports the rest of the world hardly is interested in..what Top ten is this btw?

I'd play Halo and may try AC...but other than that...yep.

This literally means nothing. For one, this month had a crap ton of games. a lot more then usual. Two, this says nothing about the actual sales of dai. show me a comparison of this game's sales since launch(3 weeks?) to DAO and DA2 in those same early weeks, and I might consider it  a bit relevant.

Quite a few goty awards now.

I sincerely doubt they're going to stop developing dragon age because it didn't stack up with as someone mentioned very well established AAA franchises that the masses play. This game is doing well, and has won a few goty awards now which is incredible.

I agree that it's cause to worry.

what Top ten is this btw?

Top 10 total US retail sales for the month of November.

Inquisition apparently couldn't even move 600K.

What is the source for this list? What are the raw numbers? Why is any information we have considered accurate? Even if accurate, why would we know what EA's target is or what the studio needs in order to turn a profit on the game?

What is the source for this list?

NPD.

What are the raw numbers?

Confidential. But leaked to be <600K (total physical retail across all platforms).

Why is any information we have considered accurate?

Because the industry trusts NPD.

Wouldn't that mean it did worse than DA2?

That 600k number from the link in the other thread doesn't seem to include PC sales.

PC physical retail is always last, so it doesn't really matter. It was probably too statistically insignificant to include when breaking down the percentages.

I have to wonder how vgchartz arrived at 700k for ps4 and xbox one in week 1 alone, then, if NPD is the real ultimate source of truth and proof of BioWare's impending demise now.

It doesn't take into account digital copies either (as NPD never does).

DA2 did 525k, and I believe Origins was 380k.

vgchartz is fantasy.

I don't know, and I don't want to think about it.

Putting aside the fact that it's a kind of death kneel for Bioware Edmonton (which saddens me a lot), I have to say that from a business POV it's really interesting to figure out what killed this franchise.

And what is the fantasy based on? You didn't answer my question. Usually people say that in the context of them lowballing PC figures due to not considering digital download. Apparently that's also true of NPD.

You seem to be assuming a lot here. And sort of ignoring what is potentially a large digital sales pool.

Don't think the origin store is on there either and that's what a lot pre-ordered on I'd imagine.

Than there's digital sales also getting tacked on.

For consoles that number seems about right to me though.

But yeah tough month lol ssb only did 700k or so in November sheesh.

The one in the other thread adds up to 100%, I know it's approximate but I find it hard to believe PC shares were less than 1% or so.

vgchartz is just pure fantasy. Their numbers are generally made up, and they're not a reliable source for this kind of info, when real numbers come out they sometimes fix it, sometimes they do not. They've been off by millions of units before. NPD also isn't infallable, nor are their numbers telling the whole truth due to only working with physical numbers.

All that said, the game's been out for less than a month, and I find it highly unlikely that it only sold 600k copies, I know I went digital, and I'm sure others did as well.
