Yes, yes, before you start in: Dragon Age characters as a whole are wonderfully written, three-dimensional special snowflakes. The alignment system doesn't work in a world where characters like Anders and Loghain and Meredith exist... round peg, square hole and all that. This is just for fun. And possibly flames.

At first glance, where do you think DAI's companions/advisors/enemies fall on the alignment chart and why?

Cole - quintessential Neutral Good. Just wants to help people and ease their suffering; wholly unconcerned with law vs. chaos even if he does occasionally burn turnips.

Cassandra - Lawful Good. Believes very strongly in goodness and order, and that the best way to achieve goodness is through order. If it comes down to it, will choose being Good over being Lawful.

Sera - Chaotic Neutral, maybe veering towards Chaotic Good. Maybe. If you squint. tobynater described her as being "basically 4chan on legs" which has got to be the most accurate statement to ever come out of the BSN. Probably sees herself as a CG Robin Hood type... but I'm less sure.

Yeah, that's all I got for now.

Sten probably sees himself as lawful neutral, others who look askance at the Qun probably see him as lawful evil.

Shale is Chaotic good, I'd say. Enjoys brutally squashing things and birds, but for the right reasons.

Zevran is Chaotic Neutral. If the money's right, he's down.

Greagior is Lawful Good.

Leliana is I'd say Neutral Good, in a "whatever it takes" sense, unless you soften her in which case she's probably more Lawful Good.

Dog is True Neutral, in that he goes along with whatever The Warden feels like doing.

Edit for Inquisition focus; DAO's characters just came to mind first.

Dorian: Chaotic good.

Blackwall: Lawful Good

Varric: Chaotic Good

IB: Lawful Neutral if under the Qun, Chaotic Good if not

Cole: Neutral Good

Vivienne: Neutral/Lawful Good

Solas: Neutral Good/Chaotic Good, depending on narrative position.

Hmmm, interesting. I need to take her with me more, then.

Gonna go ahead and peg Josie as Neutral Good, 'cause despite being an orderly person she doesn't seem beholden to the law. Or inclined to break it for the sake of breaking it.

Cullen's maybe Lawful Good. Seems like it, anyway.

Gotta agree that Viv is Lawful Neutral. I don't think she actively does anything for the good of anyone else, which is what D&D capital-G "Good" is all about. Very much about the self-advancement, that one.

Leliana is either Chaotic Neutral or Chaotic Evil, depending on if you harden her or not.

Cullen is Lawful Good.

Josephine is Neutral Good. She likes order, but she has too many bardic wiles to be completely lawful.

Cassandra is LG, obviously.

The Iron Bull is True Neutral, and I would say he shifts to either Lawful Neutral or Chaotic Neutral, depending on how his personal quest ends.

Blackwall was Neutral Evil, and desperately wants to be Lawful Good. I guess it's debatable whether he makes it there or not.

Cole is obviously Neutral Good.

Varric is Chaotic Good.

Sera is Jack Sparrow-style Chaotic Neutral.

Solas is Chaotic Neutral. I mean come on, that's practically the Dread Wolf's MO.

Vivienne is Lawful Evil. Brutal, uncompromising, utilitarian, enjoys manipulation, ambitious. Textbook Slytherin.

Dorian is Neutral Good-ish? Not quite sure about him.

Dorian, Chaotic good

Blackwall, Lawful Good maybe more Neutral good

Varric: Lawful Good, he is a standing member of the merchant's guild, which is structured cutthorght socitey so he does follow rules.

IB: Lawful Good following the Qun, Chaotic Good if not

Cole: Neutral Good, or just stright Neutral

Vivienne: Lawful Good, clearly want to go back to hte circles.

Solas: Neutral Good/Chaotic Good, depending on what his goals really are... tho I have to say he is one Naitive ******

I see a lot of ideas.
For starters,I'll avoid spoilers, but post spoiler info will be considered with my alignments.

Cassandra - Lawful Good
Varric - Chaotic good
Solas -seemingly Neutral Good, Possibly Lawful Evil, but might be Lawful Neutral. (spoilers for reasoning)
Blackwall - has become Lawful Good, spoilers indicate he was once Neutral Evil.
Cole: Neutral Good, with a whole lot of Butterfly Effect added in.
Dorian - You have to dig deeply (no pun intended), He is Lawful Good, But plays it off as Neutral Good. (before someone raises a brow, family Moral Codes can trump National Laws. Dorian has a Moral Code that he strictly follows, but Spoilers to find out about it.)
Iron Bull - Lawful Good, but not in the way a Paladin does it, since he is actually faithful to his Moral Code which is a Mix of the Qun and Family Loyalty.
Vivienne: Neutral Good, although you have to really get to know her to see it.
Sera: Chaotic Good, with an added touch of Trolling.

Well that's certainly different, care to explain why exactly?

She doesn't do things for the pursuit of good, so she's not there, but she always has a method and plays within the rules. She rarely cares who she hurts along the way (the noble at the party?) and will manipulate anyone to gain more power.

And her being a divine is scarier than Leliana.

Cole, neutral good

Blackwall, neutral good. Wasn't always the case, it seems.

Cassandra, I would say Lawful Good, but she kind of gave 'the law' the finger this game. Still, order and all that.

Dorian...chaotic good, perhaps?

Solas seems pretty true neutral to me.

Iron Bull, chaotic neutral.

Vivienne, Lawful Neutral.

Varric, chaotic good.

Hell if I know for Sera.

Leliana has taken a dance across the morality spectrum as of late. Not even sure one would fit. Used to be pretty Neutral Good, now almost seems Chaotic Neutral. Might go back if you unharden her. This system is too simple for this. :S

Josephine...neutral good. 'Niceness before knives, Leliana!'

This woman prefers that you use the powers of bureaucracy to defeat assassins coming after her for a preposterous reason rather than some good old fashioned counter-assassins. It feels like she's a little beholden to the law. She wouldn't want to just kill some perfectly law-abiding assassins, after all. (have some self-respect Josie!) I only did her quest her way b/c Leliana was on a day-trip and wouldn't be back for hours.

I am always incredibly bad at calling these things, though.

Maybe, but she lacks the hard edge that is common in Lawful Good, I don't think she fits in super well to the DnD rules because while she is extremely lawful in many regards she's also lacking the convictions that are required to be Lawful. That's why I put her in Neutral Good, she's clearly good, but she is also too... open, to be Lawful.

Oh previously, yeah he was, but he went through a change and upholds the ideals of the gray wardens, turned himself in because he wasn't adhering to his lawful-ness, and then redeemed himself.
