seriously i am totally confused. I get schematics, but they are of weapons that are of lower quality, grade than what I currently have.

There are three tiers of schematics. Tier 1 is crap, Tier 2 okay, Tier 3 good.

The overwhelming majority of Tier 3 schematics are random drops. You have an incredibly small chance of finding them in certain chests. The low drop chance and scarcity of these chests ensures that the average player will never get so much as a fifth of the worthwhile schematics. There are ways to exploit the way chests work in order to farm for schematics but you are still beholden to the random generator, you can open ten thousand chests without getting the schematic you want or you can get it on your first try, making it extremely tedious.

So, basically, whether or not the crafting system will have any actual value on a given playthrough is completely random.

The DPS or Armor range shown is based on the current materials you have. Better materials will make those numbers go up. Empire du Lion is full of T3 metal and the Snowfluers drop T3 rare leather. And all the red Templars there drop t3 cloth. Hissing Wastes also has lots of Lurkers and Wyvern's to farm T3 leather. It also has a T3 schematic vendor in the canyon. Don't buy the Dalish armor though unless you're an elf rogue. Templars there also drop cloth. If you take the keep in Empire du Lion you'll get a vendor that sells a few more T3 schematics.

So, anyone have all the schematics and who they are good for? I keep on getting light armor schematics (which I don't need), and haven't found any good fire resistance shcematics for my archer (medium armor) and warrior/tanks (heavy)
