Does anyone have success using kb/m for melee? Seems awkward for such action twitch oriented game. I'm slamming stuff in hard on my 21 ke, just finished killing all the dragons, and pretty much rip through everything. Am interested in rerolling a dw rogue though, and was wondering how painful close in fighting is, with having to run around and position while using 1-10 for skills at just the right moment. Any input?

I did a Sword and Shield Warrior on Casual.  You just pretty much just press ability keys.  It takes awhile to get use to pressing the left mouse button for regular attacks.  I think it's a lot easier than two-handed Warrior.

I think I took payback strike and grappling hook.

You don't. You rebind your ability keys so you don't have to fumble around like that. I use Shift for Charge, my mouse thumb button for Block etc. It's all about making it easy for yourself.

I played KB+M only, once on Normal/Hard as DD Rogue, the other time as DD Rogue on NM.

The controls are bad, and a mess in the tactical view, but you can get used to it.

That said, if you've never played MMOs, you'll have a much harder times getting used to them.

For a person with an RPG-only background, they'll be new and bad and unintuitive.

For a person who's played both RPGs and MMOs, they'll be bad and unintuitive... But at some point, you get used to it.

DA:I doesn't recognize my mouse thumb button(s). How'd you get it to work?

Just assign keystrokes to your thumb buttons in your mouse control software. I have 'k' set to TB1 and 'l' set to TB2.... Which correspond to Spirit Blade and Fade Step.

To be honest, it was a bit lazy for bioware to leave out these kind of assignments. The last game I had to do this for was FEAR 2.... Every previous Mass Effect and Dragon Age game seemed to have these bindings already set.

I'm on my third nightmare run and always play with keyboard/mouse and tactical cam. You can use autoattack on rightclick and only manage your skills.

Ranged works best in this mode. Melee will be better with controller or third person because the AI movement (active with tctical cam) has trouble to get in melee range if there are rocks or other obstacles.
