Might be a dumb idea but it might work well to have a screen like this before queuing up a match, at least on the higher difficulties:

 

[ ] Tank

[ ] DPS

[ ] Support

 

Players could select their role and matchmaking would(hopefully) matchmake a well balanced group.

 

I know this is asking a lot and it would probably cause a bunch of other problems(one of them being queue times for lesser-selected roles being increased) but I'm getting tired of joining a game with 3 other DPSers and having to switch classes to make the run smoother.

That would probably work, too. And be much easier to implement, I bet.

I'd rather see the matchmaking takes player ping to the host, host upload speed, host CPU, desktop/laptop (laptop overheats affect CPU clock) into account.
