Hello all,
I got my copy of Mass Effect 2 last night. But I have encountered this bug
twice now. It appears when I get close to tables my character decides to go on
them and then he is stuck. Can’t get back down. Also while on the table I can
clip into unavailable areas of the game.
Minor Spoiler*
This has happened on the Omega station, as well as the initial escape from the laboratory
plot

Ouch sounds like something QA and bug testing teams should have cought early on. Or they could atleast say how to access ingame console and use noclip so you can continue playing when this happens.

There are a few of these bugs throughout the game..it is a clipping issue. You can occasionally get stuck behind an object (I got stuck in a ceiling once was neat
). I guess we can try to identify the various areas.

BUMP! Ugh, everything was going so well for me until I entered the clinic (on Omega) and shifted up. All of my team is now walking on air. And when I say walking, I mean we're only able to take 2 steps. Tried re-starting the game and loading back in but I'm still there, levitating.
Waiting for a fix, a patch, a console command to fly/ghost/whatever.

Also happened to me on Omega and in the intro level. I just get stuck on a table or some vehicle and have to reload. Luckily I am a habitual saver.

It happened again,for me.
Is there console for this game?
Went to a random planet. Not sure on the planet name but you had to explore a alliance ship that went missing (its near the next relay)

The clipping issues in ME 2 have ruined my mood more than a few times. And since it can happen so easily and has happened to a lot of players I wonder how this got past the beta testers.
Or are we looking at another example of adherence to deadlines rather than quality?

this is an issue for me as well, no fixes in 5 months. I have just had this happen for my fourth time...

Sadly the only fix there is, is to avoid hitting the corners of objects. And quicksave often
Oh also if you are using a PC you can bind keys to "Fly" and "Walk"
http://masseffect.wi...Bindings_format
I have not tried it myself.
P.S. Be careful to read the instructions at the top of the page, or you will break your ini file.

Ok, yes, I have found a work around. Although I would prefer if they just would alow characters to fall in the game engine [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/pouty.png[/smilie]
go to your mass effect 2 folder:
program files\\\\mass effect 2
or
steam\\\\steamapps\\\\common\\\\masseffect 2
inside there you will have these folders
BioGame\\\\Config\\\\PC\\\\Cooked
Although this link
is confusing for some I imagine there is enough information here to
bind the plus key to noclip (so you can go any direction as if there
were no walls or floors. After you edit the file it needs to be
rebuilt. The link covers the info.
Now below is my config file
that I decided to upload. I'm going to hope that my game's serial
number and any other possibly confidential information isn't in it
(I did glance through it but its too large to tell). You can use this
file at your own risk. Backup your file before you replace it.
This
config file is already setup to have the plus key bound to no clip,
release the key and you fall to nearest ground. I don't know if you use
this whether or not you will also have to 'rebuild.' My hope is that
you dont.
